Tenjou Tenge Aphelion | A Sequel of Decay

Overall it's not bad, but there are still things that could be improved:

• The starfield is really crowded, you rarely see such a crowded sky, also remember that the amount of stars decreases as the sky meets the horizon line.

• The clouds are really dense! Usually during night scenes there are a few clouds and they're likely no that that dense (you can almost see though them). They're also heavily saturated, but that might be ignored since the whole wallpaper plays with contrast between white and dark.

• Her... wings(?) are too blurry :o. The birds also are quite big as well lol if you compare them to the size of the trees in the background... their proportion is kinda off o_O.

• The bottom part is empty... I am sure you purposely wanted it all black, but it's empty. I'd actually move the text in that area (the text right now looks kinda in a wrong position) so that it won't look that empty.

• Rework thet text style/layout: The stroke border is not always a good choice especially if you are using a line that divides it in two parts. The stroke border also looks kinda sharp and sliiiightly pixelated. If you're planning to move the text to the bottom area (bottom left corner for example) like I suggested you you might only to have your text full white, with no other effects, then duplicate its layer and blur that layer with a fair amount of pixel, then playing with its opacity. that way you'll get a nice glowing text in a dark area that would surely be better looking. Keep the same size though, you don't want to have a huge text that would draw the attention from the main focus of your wallpaper (the girl)

• Last thing (but this is more like a very personal opinion), I'd add some blood on the girl's hand and on her sword (around sword's borders), that will increase the contrast and it will help defining the borders of the scan because right now she blends too much with the dark area.

Anyway, on with the wallpaper comments.

Maybe you could make the clouds darker, and add just a little bit of color to your sky? You could also lessen the stars a bit. Night skies don't have that much stars (I wish they did). If those black things are trees, then those birds are HUGE. O.o Try moving the text on the bottom left, then make it gray or white, so it could fill up your currently empty black space. Overall, this wallpaper looks great. But I think it would look even better if you worked on it a bit more.

Well, I did forget to post one little thing - the moon looks rather jagged. And there aren't supposed to be stars in front of it, because stars should be farther back. I still think the clouds are too bright (but you probably intended that, so I'll stop now).

Well, I am an amaturer at this so I just say my opinion. When I look at an wallpaper like this one the thing I see is the whole picture in one and not all the details. The whole picture gives me a really nice, cool and warm feeling inside and the blurrynes that haunts the picture makes it fell really good old styled.

The fact that the sky is way to starry didn't pop up in my head. I just thought it was a very beaty sky and all, because it really looks like one of those starry nights where you feel like you can see the whole universe.

I can agree that the birds is kinda blurry, but I would also say that if they were to sharp in contrast they wouldn't fit in this wall at all. The blurry thing just has to be there. The birds look kind of big of you imagine that they are over the trees, however if you imagine that they are closer to the girl, suddenly they seem more of normal size.

I think the woods a really well made. It reminds me of a walk in sunset, where the sun has just set so there still light, but you can't see the sun. These silhouttes gives me the warm, cool feeling. Also notice the detail at the right. The light post gives the wall a "park" feeling or the feeling of a small neighboorhod.

Back to the starry sky and the dense clouds. If the wall has to be like real life, then there could be something about it, that the clouds are too thick and the stars should be less and less, the closer to the horizone line. BUT, if aren't going after a reality wall, then the thick clodes works just fine with the starry sky, because it ads mystique. And in my own personal opinion I think that it is okay to make wallpapers look apart from our world. Anime isn't close to reality anyway.

The moon you see however, could have been made alot better. It is way to, uhm, crusty??, and that makes you think that this wall has been modified.

About the texture, I don't know in details how it should be made, but I think it looks really great, and it would make the whole paper a lot more booring if you made the text white. However the glowing effect Shinn talks about sounds really cool. Maybe session zero could have been used here?

The girls skin color is one of the greatest thing in the whole wall. It is really has a nice warm glow of mystique to it and the way the hand and the head is connected through her tottaly dark bodysuit really feels cool.

I like that the whole lower part is dark and that Aya (the girl) melts together with it. That way you also feel that the sky is helping, litting her up, which is adding a great deepness to the wall.

Also, a nice little side note, this is one of the first walls where Ayas breasts aren't bouncing right out in your head. It feels nice to see her more naturel.

The only thing i REALLY hate about this wall is her wings. They just don't match her or the wall or the theme. They are place at a bad spot, and they are just not supposed to be there.

Either then that, this is my newest fav wall. I really like it, and it makes me feel good. But... Could it be possible to get the wall in 1600*1200???

hmz...so this is your new version? hmz...I think you took out all the flaws ^_^"... just a few little things: - I think the scan stil should need some blur on the edges, just alittle to blend it in to the bg. - you clouds looks slightly too bright, abit darker would be better and the blend of the scan will goes automatically better. - oh..and I think the 3 big black birds on the fore ground should be removed =O....cause...for me it makes the others alittle fake...cause those 3 birds looks kinda fake =/.... oh wait...I mean 2 the rigth one and the left one. - oh..I wan to ask what that recktangle thing on the lower left corner is....it's kinda sticking out..^_^".. - dun make the bushes that high on the left side....cause it ruins the perspective. now is like...you standing low and surrounded by trees and the sizes doesn;t match anymore. so just remove a bit of the bushes on the right. - and...last like what nuniko said...your moon looks kinda..jagged those are the little flaws ^_^"... it's a good wallpaper though, nice dark feeling and the effects at the sky looks good too. great one~! keep the works pal!

I liked the feel of this wallpaper. It incorporates the light and the darkness quite well. One of the things I like abou tit most is that the sky is not overly bright, it is more muted which also makes it easier on the eyes, especially if working in the dark.

Nice moody wall ;D I'd have thought you would have made the sky more sepia-yellow toned like Maya's skin, so the wall fits the colours of the scheme and as a result turns out more cohesive colour-wise. But nice nonetheless, I like how the clouds blend into a storm on the right side. I think considering the number of birds, you should have used more different shapes. It looks like most are exactly the same shape, just tilted to different angles X_x;

I didn't get to see the previous version so I'm looking at this fresh. I like how the girl is silhouetted and merges with the black at the bottom; the ends of the bare tree branches poking into the sky gives some interesting detail, I think. The white clouds look a little strange though...can't quite put my finger on it, I think maybe it confuses me a little as to what time of night it is. Cos the rest of the sky is pitch black...nevermind though, it looks good. Lol. Adds to the mood. Which by the way I think you've captured really well here: very dark and brooding.

everything seems so sharp and she seems so blurry x_x the trees are too sharp for being farther away. actually, the way the bluuriness is, it makes them seem closer than her. and i'm really not a huge fan of how all the birds look the same. it's like...synchronized flying or something. i think if tehbirds flying looked chaotic, it would really help the feel of the wall. actually, i think my favorite part is the text >_>she's just so blurry, and the background is just so sharp, it's like you don't want the focus to be on her x_x

Very nice. I like how everything all matches up. The character seems to almost blend in with the background, yet she is still able to stand out. The background brings out the mood and gives the viewer a little bit of insight on what she's possibly thinking. Wonderful job! ^__^ *gives love*

Lets see overall the wall kicks butt! The only things that bugs me are the size of the birds xD and that I cant read the red text.....Oh an a note on the birds they are also to sharp things that are seen that far off and are that small have distortion and become blurry. I must say I love how you covered her hand in blood its very subtle but it caught my eye. The sky also look really great! It's really a great wall when you take it all in :) +fav

Wow! So deep, dark and solitary. You really conveyed the setting and mood of the wallpaper. I like the addition of the very many birds in the sky. I would certainly be creeped out by those many birds. I also like the contrast levels in your wall. Just the right intensity of blacks and whites. The red part of the text blends too much with the background... all white text would have been okay. I really like your wall.

How absolutley beautiful. I love the grey tones throughout. It gives the piece a very classy feel as well as a simple, eye-pleasing color scheme.

overall change of light and darkness from top to bottom is bit to abrupt i feel and being able to see her hand at the bottom throws of the illusion of darkness

Great wallpaper, I like the contrast that is used for this wallpaper. It kinds of give me the feeling of spooky atmosphere, though the facial expression does not quite seem to fit into this atmosphere very well...

the dark feeling of it, it really looks good, the scan is very cool. typorgaphy, is done well. I can't really find anything wrong with it, the darkness, just perfect.

OOo looks different to when I last saw it. I see she's sharper...the birds and feathers flying about has changed, and the sky's gone a broody red. Nice. Well it was very nice to begin with. The grey cloud to her left though...maybe less dense...it looks a little odd. Hehe sorry, don't mean to pick.

I am into dark... I like the black background, the broken and burnt wings... they look real good, at first sight the wings look SD and you realize they are short later after you take a good look at the image and you see the feathers flying away. The clouds and moon are Great, I have no complainments over this wall, I really like it and will put it on my desktop! YEAH! ^^

I like the whole dark, gloomy presence. Kinda resembles all her struggles and her dark past.

this wallpaper is great!

even though it is predominantly really dark and gloomy, the focus is aya's face which leads the eye to the light above the trees. Though her face is sad, the rays of light portray a sense of hope, which will overcome the current gloom and doom.

all i can think of is that the bottom is too black and doesnt define aya enough. Though this was probably what u wanted, as i wallpaper i think they look better without large patches of solid colour. Thus i would have recommended a very dark colour (not quite black, but very dark) which could allow a slight outline of aya's lower body and her sword.

this is based on the small preview image only, but once 24hrs ticks over, i'll get it straight away.

This wallpaper is also part of my favorites, its probably because I love AYA... she is so beautiful. I think that the blood effect couldve been dont better, especially the bloos that is simulated in the sword. I love the background, it meshes well with the positioning og the charater. The feather brushes are well done, and again.. she looks so beautiful. Well done!

This is so dark and gritty but beautiful and deep. It makes me think she's a queen of shadows or something. I really like the way you create your wallpapers. They all seem to carry a meaning inside of them and the pictures you chose to make them with, flow together so gracefully. I wish I could make a good wallpaper like you =)

I lllove it! xD I'm usually not fond of text, but it's in a good position and helps prevent the black from overpowering everything with its...blankness. There's a good balance of sky and cloud, and the effects do a god job of making it look stormy while remaining subtle, though the number of stars crowds it a bit. It might be nice if the moon was bigger, as it could add quite a nice effect but sort of gets lost in the detail. Overall good job, gives off a great mood ^^

Wow !! That's awesome !! This dark atmosphere is just so exciting !! Wonderful background !! The sky is so wonderful with the moon, the stars, and the cloudy look !! The forest gives a mysterious feeling to the scene. The finger prints in the sword or katana are a nice idea, just like the blood on the characters hand... Wonderful job again !

come on, it's too dark, i mean that's the way it suppose to be, but it's overdarken i think too many details could it be more present in this wall.

First of all I've seen this source around, and I've only seen it done in a way I liked once. That said, I've seen it done well twice after chancing upon this. The first thing my eye scanned was of course the face, then the hand, and then the background. These are the major elements of the piece, and each serves one another well with such an intense darkness surrounding the figure.

I know it's inherent in the source, but the smiling face adds a lot considering that it's only that and her hand that are clearly visible. The rest, including the sword, are so blurred by darkness that it's almost a taunt to the viewer... an element of danger was created (intentionally or not). The aphelion reference and the stars makes sense after a quick lookup, and I suppose the decay and the intense darkness works too.

Not a bad wall at all and I like the feeling to it. However there are some flaws like: the clouds look way too dense, the bottom part of the wall is kinda empty (maybe you intended it to be like that), her wings are too blurry, the moon could of been a lot better. I guess the text is OK. ^__^
