Please read this description, you might regret it one day..
As many of you probably know Amnesty International has launched a new campaign to aid help in Darfur. The campaign is called Make Some Noise. It mainly features a double CD with artist from today playing covers of john lennon songs. Artist that are contributing are U2 - Aerosmith - Avril Lavigne - Green Day - Jack Johnsen - Tokio Hotel - Christina Aguilera - and many more. I bought it today and i can advice others to do the same.
Darfur has been in a crisis for many years now. It has been dealing with civil wars, corruption, bad living climate, no money, diseases. It has been supressed by its neigbour countrys and is in grave need of help. If you want a good vision and a shock take a look at the green day clip of there cover of john lennons 'workingclass hero'. If you under 16 i would not watch it. Watch it here. It contains storys of people from darfur that have fled because of the conditions and terrors that they have gone trough. If the storys in the clip dont shock ore touch you then you have no hearth.
as usal we then realise how lucky we are that we are able to be living in such conditions, and that we can make a chanche to those who cant. I will not be asking to donate money to amnesty ore such intentions. I just want you to compare your situation to them and realise how lucky you are. And if you feel like you want to do something to help them go do something then. It doesnt have to be big. I mean you can go out buy the cd [its called also make some noise], ore download a few songs off the make some noise website. Ore just spread the word of Darfur and the misery that lives there.just do 1 thing:
Make Some Noise!
thankyou in advance. Feel free to drop opinions and comments below and share your reaction to this action, the situation there, ore things you want to do.
Yours dearly, ^Beckor

the with-buildings-something versions
Wallpaper Feedback Inspired by the cover of the make some noise cd, main tekst was replicated even from there. I just choose to use this scan because it showed a character that looked straight to the watcher. Furthermore because the character shows 2 sides, a side coverd in light and a other one coverd in shadow. It resembles a bit how the world is in my opinion. A half is doing good and positive while the other half is dark and not bright. It might be like a medailon with 2 sides, where there is light there is darkness. But sometimes we must enlighten the dark sides and aid them our help to come out of there darkness and misery. I made this wallpaper to show my affection to the people in darfur and spread the word on, onto AP.
Wallpaper updatesA correct widescreen version is now online. I will be adding by request of gat a version with a background soon. I will post a external link down here then. I allready have the idea of how to do it, it will become a extension of the light/dark sides with buildings vaguely on both sides but 1 half intact and 1 half collapsed. It probably will be vaguely shades of buildings and not high res sharp buildings. Expect it within a week.

aw, thats such a good reason to contribute to the wall. the wall itself is very nice, i love the simplicity. when you full view, the colors look so much better and the texture on it works well. kinda looks painted in a way. good wall beckor.

Yeah heard about the project, ve´ve been talking about Darfur on our Society Science classes back in the high school, it´s really terrible story and no person with some power to influence something should stay cold about this. I would love to see more people do the walls with some actual thinking and maybe supporting something like you did instead of just making them. Nice simple and colorful one, just can´t enjoy it completely with no widescreen version but whatever. +fav

Although I wholesomely agree that Darfur can take a bit of help and really needs dire aid, but I find the distastes for Americans and Lobbyist to totally and always disregard respect and international tie concerns by saying my homeland CHINA as a force that is always in the process of hammering and slowing aid to Darfur, good job Americans for putting CHINESE people who can actually help them nearer to look like the bad guys.
So we are on occasion and due to protocols have slowed certain aids to that country, we did not use military MIGHT to hold the country down! We are not the bad guys, and I would have demanded that they give us the ample way to extend the hand, rather than already saying this and that. That is why a lot of conspiracy and spy movies are full of shit. That said, I rest my case. Remember, it is not that we don't help, we do, we don't like when we are told that we are crapping up the process.
as for the wallpaper, I can understand your work here, you have a noble cause, and I must say, a good wall with good inspiration like this deserves much attention.
I note the striking resemblance to Uncle Sam's I WANT YOU poster, maybe it is just me, but the whole wallpaper is striking and simple, album art meet new age-style like wallpapers are always eyecatching.

i'm diggin the colors and the text, though it's a bit too simple for my taste.. it's worths it... Your words are very touching and it's a very good thing to make a wall supporting this issues... people need to know more about what happens around them... and not just live with their eyes closed in their pretty happy life :P Most of us usually forget of how lucky we are.. and we behave selfishly.. So this words that you wrote here are really nice and important to get us into thinking in others and remmember that not everyone has the change of living well and eating everyday >_< take care beckor, well done ;]

You have a really good point there. Darfur needs help and making this wall will hopefully inspire other AP members to go out and support this cause. You also forgot to mention that the civilians in Darfur have gone through genocide as well. I never heard of this campaign until now, but I'll go out and buy it myself. As for the wall, the simplicity, color variation, and icon space is nice.

It's nice to see concern for an international problem in a community like this :) And it's doubly awesome to see support for Amnesty International as well. There definitely needs to be more done to help solve this pressing crisis.
Your wall is very good, but you have several typos in your sig. It's just grammer issues, but I believe peaceful is spelled with one 'l', not two. And it's not 'there', it's 'their'. Other than that though, that's the only things I see needing to be fixed.
Massive props for bringing attention to this important crisis. +fav

A clean and sober design ... it really fits that kind of cause ... Such a wall deserves attention It is true that we are lucky to live in a peaceful country even if it is not perfect, darfur's situation is even worst sadly ... I like the textures you added on the letters and the character and contrast of the wall ... +fav

I like the spirit. It's something sophisticated with a deeper meaning. I see you wanted it to be eye-catching due to your color choices and it really works. The only thing I don't like is that he is fading away but overall it is a nice and especially unique wall because of the purpose it serves. fav

I like how you incorporated the Darfur message into your wall. The coloring's great and it's a definite favorite for me.

this is when art speaks volumes, it's great to see a wall that makes a conscious effort to "move" people to think deeper and to just plain act. I like the concept of the light and the darkness you portrayed on Sanzo in the wall. Nice use of color and negative space as well, sometimes one feels "what could I possibly do to change anything?" but even if it's done by bringing awareness to one person at a time every little bit helps. It's plain genocide what's going on Darfur and it's sad that no one is making it a real priority to help out, thanks for creating such a conscious wall, the wall is simplistic but as I said it speaks volumes so for that I'll have to fave it

The wall is great man, and like it says above for a good cause too, but I think that its too empty, the detail in the words is great, but I would really really like to see some stock images in black and white in the background, (or just very very fade gray, almost white, images of fences and wire and all that kind off stuff that humanity uses to punish it self, that way the wall will stay simple, but once you full view it and concentrate you will see all that in the background, this is not a new idea, in fact I have seen this in some of your walls before, know what am talking about?). I will fave it for now, but I want to see that version at list as an option in your description. ok?

So true my friend. I first heard about this campaign a week ago, and it is very worthy.
And the wall is nice to boot, good colors, pretty much said already.

I think it's awesome that you're using this way to raise awareness. I'll definitely help spread the word. :D

A simple wall that really fits the cause. I'm glad to read that you care about world's problems, Beckor, and I think that using art to let other people know about things they're not informed about is great. The wall surely is eye catching and it really deserves a FAV + Great wall, man ;)

a good idea and a good wallpaper like the simpleness of the background compared to the complexity of the text-colors, and of course your idea to make a wallie for a AI project!

This is pretty good. It's nice and simple. I think it's great that you are raising awareness about Darfur. I remember watching that Green Day video on television a couple of days ago and it just reminded me how uninformed people are about the worlds problems. Stuff like this makes me pay attention to the news more. Anyway, this is a good wall. Nice job, Beckor.

i really like the text work. awesome. the simplicity reminds me of Ish, but i'd like to see more vector work x] and the cause - well, it's a great cause obviously. hopefully it will do much good. cheers.

I do believe the situation in Darfur needs to be resolved quickly as well. This is a wonderful way to get the message across. =]

I salute your push to raise awareness of such international issues, we really need a lot more of such things and people everywhere to petition their governments and leaders to take action on it. The Darfur problem has been simmering for so long and yet it is such a real shame that there is not enough real effort to put a stop to the atrocities and suffering there. And not just Darfur but also a whole host of other problems across the world.
On the wallpaper, it's a clean, excellent design that really fits the message it carries. I look forward to the enhanced version with background, the design idea sounds very apt and suitable and I am sure it will be an excellent wallpaper.

Wow! Thank you for making this wall and spreading the word!
I'm in a club at school that's trying to raise money to help Darfur!
Anyways, this is an awesome wall. Simple and gets the message across.
Definitely a +favs for me.

Apart from the Making Some Noise, this one's a really great concept. I especially love the color (you can't really see the brilliance of the color from the thumbnail) and the simplicity paired with the seriousness of the character which implies and magnifies the message of the wallpaper greatly. It's a nice wallpaper, and it's a good deed you've done by actually caring for some country you haven't even visited (or barely known). Not many people can really do that and do something to make some noise. For that, I give you my praise.

You could've picked a better series for this. Sanzo wouldn't give a flying rat about Darfur, and to be honest, I don't either. Waste of my time.
Also, Sanzo + Rainbow = Fail.

Excellent idea! This wallpaper attracts attention to a right cause... simple, sober...

Very simple. Very 80's! I love it! ^_^

Pick a different character. Sanzo and rainbows don't make any sense at all, nor would he care about such a cause. He probably couldn't care about Darfur even if he tried. Don't start such a gimmick with a random character, carefully choose it.
The open space is nice for files on the desktop, and that's appreciated. Very clean and well-designed, but again, pick another character. Seriously.
