"I remember the golden days when all this was a mystery and You could write a letter then or god forbid come visit me." - Necessary Evil , The Dresden Dolls
August 27, 2007 - release date for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption .
Needless to say I'm very excited. Any Metroid fan who's watched the videos posted on IGN understands why I'm this pumped for the release. It's not just the innovative gameplay the Wii provides, oh no, the storyline is set to feature quite a few surprises. Plus, it seems there will be the type of character interaction rarely seen in the series.
Alright, I've let the fangirl in me have its run, onto the wall. This scene is basically Samus flying her gunship over a dying planet.
I see AP is extremely lacking in space scenes, which is understandable as they tend to turn out 3-D oriented and that's difficult to naturally place a 2-D anime character in. So when I set out I just decided to build the space scene first and add in a character/ship in later on. Samus' gunship was an easy choice as it was not only a 3-D render but all I had to do was extract, resize, and change the lighting. I have to say, that turned out much better than I originally invisioned.
I have a soft spot for space oriented images, I love making them as you can create a stellar (no pun intended) piece with only a few objects. Not saying it isn't difficult, that nebula in particular took a few rounds of trial and error to turn out the way I wanted it to, but it's a nice break from constantly vectoring characters. You also learn to appreciate the clone stamp tool, it makes creating your own textures so much easier and more innovating.
I've wanted to make a space wall for a while now, I'm so glad I finally got the chance to do so. I'll probably be making more widescreen walls from now on as my new laptop dimensions are widescreen. My laptop... that still has to arrive. So many things to look forward to!

Wow, it looks really stunning. The background with the purple-ness going there is really nice and also the planet there isn't that bad. Fav? Most likely.

i think you did a really great job on that nebula, i'm a huge fan of space scenes (and i don't think the starfield is flat :P). i'm not a huge fan of the color of the planet but overall this looks awesome. nice work! :)

Great wall. The nebula and planet look wonderful. I don't really like the ship's shape, but there is hardly anything you can do about that :p +fav

Finally! A wallpaper with a space scene that actually makes sense. I can't wait for Metriod Prime 3. My birthday is only a few days before it releases so I really want to get it at launch date.

I really like this one its a job well done, I just dont like one aspect. The planet irks me alot. The atmosphere seems kinda just like a low opacity brush. Maybe Tutorial, how to make a planet could help you with a better atmosphere. Also the color of the planet seems kinda...just not working. Even thought yellow and purple are complimentary colors I dont think it flows well. Id like to see perhaps a brown/orange planet like jupiter. OR a turquoise/bluey color perhaps. otherwise its fantastic. I really like the nebula done and the starfield is done well. (Not just a 1px paint brush dotted 1000 times and not just a noise filter LOL XD)

Nice space scene. The starfields look like how its suppose to look. I don't know how many different variation there are for generic looking starfields. Stars are stars unless you want to get really technical and plot star points by star points base on measurements from the light source reflecting off the stars. Great work on the wallpaper. Great Metroid theme.

Wow, so grand xD
The nebula is ♥, I love the colors! The planet kind of weirds me out, though, lol. I don't think yellow was the right color to choose. Still, this is totally awesome!

I love the pink in the background. :) Very pretty wall indeed. You are right too, 2D chars in 3D backgrounds isn't so good-looking, but you have made a good 3D wall. ^^

Beutiful nebula!!! And thinking of it, the ship somehow resembles to Talym from Farscape.

Love the colors here. Especially that purplish color. <3 The planet also looks great with all the glow and shadings. One thing in particular that i liked about your wall is the atmosphere of it. It's rather empty, but this is exactly what space is like. A vast empty space. So i think you showed that well in this wall. Everything also blends well together. The only thing that you may wanna improve on is the starfields. Overall nice space wall. ^_^

Awesome. I've been looking for a Metroid wallpaper to use, and it's in 1440x900! Can't wait for next week, thank goodness I have Super Metroid on the Virtual Console to keep me going until then.

I haven't seen Metroid yet, but I really admire your style in this wallpaper. I also have a soft spot for space oriented scene, and from what I've seen it's rare to see wallpaper like this in AP.
I guess it could do with a bit less color, because I think what made space beautiful is that it's (mostly) empty. It made space looks infinity.

Samus investigating a distress call. The nebula and the space surroundings are stunning. The shadow on the planet could be improved. Perhaps the spaceship warping out might be a nice concept for the next design. Look forward to more new creations from you.

I love the vibrant colors in the space around the spaceship.

Love how you put Samus's ship all alone out in space, it gives it that silent moment to ponder and view this majestic space...well for me anyway haha.
