The wallpaper as a whole took about a few hours to put together. I made the sky, cage and character separately, since PS froze every time I tried to open 2 of these pictures simultaneously OX In the end I managed to piece everything together.
The rose vectors and the textures are the only things I didn't make in this wallpaper (and the font, of course). Credits are below.
The title is inspired by Kylie Minogue & Nick Cave's song "Where the wild roses grow". I love that song, it's very sad and I wanted to portray a kind of melancholy here. Ahiru is a bird who was captured, but managed to escape from her cage. However, even when she's up in the sky, she still feels trapped (hence the cage). Story made up by me, it has nothing to do with the Princess Tutu anime XD
As you can see, I desaturated the colors on the vector, because they were too intense. I left them a bit intense, though, since I wanted her to stand out. I don't know why, but Tutu reminds me of a rose - maybe that's why I choose this song to illustrate my theme.
I'm so tired... Good thing I'm finished with this one, at first I thought I wasn't going to finish it ^_^' I think I can concentrate on my future Kaleido Star projects :D
Details: Vector: here, made by me, more details on the page Cage: vectored by me from this scan, 6 layers Sky: vectored by me, 9 layers, default PS CS2 textures Rose vectors: red rose from font and pink rose from Tutu's hand, both by anolibb, changed the color of the one from Tutu's hand (it was originally yellow) Total # of layers for wallpaper: 26

First comment.
I was really amazed how you put the girl in the cage, so amazing.
The colors are nice and good.
I like her ballerina clothes.
Very good Vector!
Keep up the good work and have a nice day n_n

it's princess tutu, nobody has edited a princess tutu wall for quite a while now! it's nice, but ahiru's pose doesn't really match the image.

The wallpaper is beautiful, but I get the feeling that it doesn't really flow well. It just seems like the image is far to different from the background to make it seem like a completed piece. Other then that it is very nicely done!

This wallpaper is really nice and filled with a bit of cuteness. I like the cage, looks a bit plain. The background is great, simple and nice, i like the "V" shaped birds the the flow of how they're positioned...

The background is superb, but I have to agree that Ahiru looks a little strange in the cage. Why not try using the image of the fairytale Princess Tutu instead? (You know, the pink-coloured one with wings instead of arms. She appears in one of the scans here.) I think that might be a bit more effective for the image you're going for.

the big blob of pink on the left side looks really weird, the bg would look better without it

Aww, I love the story behind this, very cute and sad T_T'' The colours of the sky is lovely, the sea gulls are a very nice touch <3 I think the rose on the bottom right corner is too much, maybe just highlight the rose in Ahiru's hand?

Is really interesting the concept of this wallpaper and the way you made the elements on it is really nice ^_^ I love the way you made the birds and clouds ^_^

Very interesting concept. It looks nice and clean overall. I like the background shapes and especially the colours. The only things I would change are the font of the text in the background and I would get rid of the large font - it's sorta unnecessary. :) Good job though; I enjoy a lot of your walls.

It's Nice Wallpaper. Soft Brown Colors in the Background and Black of the Birdcage with Complex Details Covering the Heroine are Really Really Impressive. The Birdcage Express Unstable and Ironic Harmony in This Wallpaper. I Think Her Eyesight and Silhouette of Birds Mean Freedom and Hope She Wishes. Her White Dress is the Point of Concentration. Thanks for Your Good Work.

My dear etoile, Please......
It was heartbeating, breathtaking, whatever I cannot describe... I just love the animation and TuTu, Ahiru herself... Thank you for vector work and wallpaper.

I think this is a nice, cute, simple Princess Tutu wallpaper. Generally when you seem images of cages, it's Rue. I think it was a nice concept to instead cage Duck (the concept fits both characters about equally when you think about it). I think that it's simple (and yet one knows it was definitely not simple to put Princess Tutu in that cage) design makes it quite nice. I don't like it when they feel too crowded. Wonderful job I think, and the color scheme is done nicely.

Gorgeous setting, but somehow Tutu doesn't feel like she's really there...

Somehow Ahiru is too different compared to other parts of the picture. It just doesn’t seem to be fit in it. Either way, I like this picture quite a bit, though I can’t say it to be (very) good.

All of it is very nice, but the way Ahiru is "standing" in the cage just seems a bit unnatural and unrealistic, but besides that...Great Wall!

Wow! I'm impressed! Thanks for battling with your computer!!

This is a neat concept, but the execution is lacking. The character vector is amazing, clear and crisp. The cage, however, is fuzzy. Adding a hint of the bottom of the cage wouldn't hurt, either. The character has some really nice colors in it, blues and greens, but you only used a dusky orangey color in the background. The problem with that is the character doesn't match and stands out too much from the rest of the wall. Also, as others have said, the character looks strange to be standing on the bar in the cage, particularly as she isn't holding on to anything to steady herself. I think going back and making a few changes wouldn't be a bad idea in this case.
