Greetings all and hello once again! This is my second take on a Mushi-shi wall I've been working on. At the great suggestion of you lovely folks at AP, I have tried making the image a bit more landscapish. I created a bit of a mountain range, trying to mimic the Japanese wall scroll feel, and put in a bit of sky. I gave the background a very subtle treatment for a more wintery morning feel for the image, and kept with a cool color treatment for both the background and Ginko. I also added in a shadow for him. I could not put in a shadow for the tree because of the light source. I tried foot prints as well, but they didn't seem to work out for the image. They looked like they didn't fit into the image.
With my first version of this, all i had was Ginko and the tree. I didn't want to disturb the blank serenity that the image had. With this second version, I tried to preserve that serenity, but now its more of a muted serenity I'd say.
Enough of the emo-artsy talk though. Please let me know what you think and any suggestions. They are always welcome!

Damn, I love this perfect simplicity.
If only you could improve the quality of the images/revector them so they don't look related to pixelly art, then it would be unstoppable *w*.

OMG! I love it! *___*
This is so minimal and perfect. The simplicity of the background gives to the wall a very sad and solitude look, and the choose of winter as a season really works with the concept of your wall.
Very good job! :D

One of my happy minimalist wallpapers! And a very fitting subject matter given the season... although I hardly need to be reminded of snow right now, living in the Midwest.
The weak bit in this to me is the mountains in back. They're well drawn, but they're very definitely Chinese -style mountains, based off of the famous and much-painted Huangshan Mountains in the southern Anhui Province. Take a look here for some pictures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huangshan_Mountains

Well simplicity really does make a wall better than to see it filled wit effects but there is quite a difference between simplicity and a pretty empty background!I don't know but I think you should put something more in the background like another tree,or better some shadows(snow gets dirty you know in that sense I am saying) or a few steps marks or simply to make the mountains clearer or to make it look like the weather makes it hard to see,I am missing the word right now!Anyway I still like the idea and the simplicity and I am also interested in the anime!

As much as I like Mushishi and the original scan, I can't help disliking the wallpaper. It's way too bland and the mountains simply don't look like mountains. I can see what you went for and it's very effective though I can't see that much difference (other than bringing out the detail) between the original scan.

I like the idea and it almost has it, but the mountains don't look real. I think that a nice simple fix would be to have one be located behind the tree a little. Not much, just enough to show that they are definitely in the background. Best of luck.

I love the simplicity. Really, that's what I look for in wallpapers... simplicity that can masquerade as elegance. Thank you. <3

Nice simplicity. I like how much emotion is conveyed by so little presence.

It's a nice image, but feels a little heavy on the right side. Maybe if just a small *something* were added to the mountains to balance it out a bit more, it would feel quite so lopsided. But I do like the vague empty and cold feeling of the lone character walking through.
Just fix that left side a little somehow and you'll be all set.
