Why do skirts exist? It's hard to say really... guys used to ware skirts. You know, in Scotland and Greece and like that? They did, I saw it on Xena Warrior Princess all the time. The men wore skirts just like Xena did, really short ones too. Hercules, he never wore a skirt though, well, I don't think he did at any rate. Anyway, that's neither here nor there I guess. The thing is, they don't anymore (ware skirts I mean). So maybe why was because of the weather, you know? The weather was warm in Greece back then, you gotta figure. I'm not sure how that explains Scotland though. Maybe the Scotts thought it all some glorious and romantic test of manhood or something, who could bare their legs the most in the dampest weather and still throw a log real far? It could have been all about chafing I suppose, we do have a lot of new materials around now a'days you know. And then of course there's the theory that people just liked to feel a breeze down there or something, I don't know. Whatever the reason though, men, they just don't ware skirts anymore. And women's skirts, they've gotten truly weird in a lost of cases. Like, business suits for women? A truly cringe worthy invention I have to say. I mean think about it people. You're in the middle of a heavy work load at the law firm or whatever, and you're feeling restless. You say to yourself, "hey! I've been sitting in this stupid chair all morning, I bet it'd feel great to do a few jumping jacks, loosen up a bit. Yeah!" but can you? If you're a guy, you can, sure, but if you're a woman, hell no you can not! You see what I'm saying here? Skirts have gotten truly messed up over the years. They used to be about something, there used to be skirt equality like in Xena where there was whole armies of men in skirts prancing about as pretty as you please, so it was fair and you had a better view and stuff. But now? Now skirts have somehow become all about repressed sexual tension, widening the gap between the genders, and all sorts of other vaguely sinister things. So yeah, I'm gonna say it: Skirts have become really ugly things over the years. It's sad really, but true u_u

hmm, nice rei and asuka are lookin damn adorable but the bg is rather unsatisfing the petal/rays/whatever are kinda odd and the right side of the wall feels very empty a high quality work, but somewhat lacking in concept

The Rei and Asuka scan is fantastic, but I have to agree with the poster above me that the background really doesn't match with the scan too well. The centerish region of the background especially is very undecided and simply doesn't make the whole picture cohesive. Also, I don't think the texture really does the wallpaper justice.

I, myself, absolutely adore skirts. Though, that's another story for another time. Perhaps a forum topic for that would do!

One thing I really wish you would of done, since you made such a lengthy discussion about skirts, was include an actual description to the wallpaper. I have no idea what exactly you've done or worked with, so I'm going to go under a complete assumption with this comment. I really like the scan of Asuka and Rei you decided to go with and I'm also really digging the background too. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the background colors. It doesn't look bad, but the color scheme doesn't fit the best, in my opinion. The flower design is a bit random, but I like it.

Overall, not too bad. Minus a few changes, it's still a very well done wallpaper. On a note though, I'd recommend including a description with your wall next time. The argument isn't exactly un-necessary (though, I'd personally post something like that in the forums, not with a wallpaper), but I have no idea what you've done with this wall since that's all you did.

The title certainly did catch my attention. However, if you are looking to start a discussion, it really should be in the forums; the title doesn't really relate to the wall very much.

I also have to agree with those above me; Rei and Asuka are indeed very cute, and well placed; however, the background is somewhat lacking. Not in effort, perhaps (not knowing what it was you did), but in stylization, definitely. Set against a better background this wall would be much improved. The colors are fine, but the pattern is just seems a bit...unexciting perhaps?. Also the flower design is random, but I think something more distinguishing could be placed there, though don't ask me what, but the flower just doesn't seem right how.

On a side note, though this isn't meant to start a discussion or anything, but I have to wonder why (a) if you dislike skirts so much you have skin with both girls wearing skirts, and (b), why in anime the use of skirts (albeit short ones) is so prevalent. What would be cool would be to make an edit to your original post giving us some info on how you made the wall/how long it took, etc, and maybe if you decide to start a forum post concerning skirts you could put the link to it in your edit, but don't actually reply to the stuff here, which is meant just to comment on the wallpaper itself.

Anyways, its just a suggestion.

woot! "ate" is back! yippe! ehem! well, the wallpaper is really good... I love the scan you picked (esp. Rei ayanami... coz she is smiling! =)) the flower is nice and the background too... the argument about skirts really surprised me though... but, nice... and good job! +fav ^_^

The scan is terrific. The background is good but it is kind of sparse in the upper right. Perhaps twirling the streams around on the left into something twirling from right to upper left instead of bottom right to upper left might give some volume into that space.

There are also some color bleedings at the left pillar with the background.

nice job on this wall, desing is simple yet it works, although my only gripe is the characters is on the left side which is tend to be blocked by my desktop icons, but overall i liked this ^_^
