*cough* What to say about this...um, it's very different from my usual style; it's my first "abstract" wallpaper, if you will. This isn't how I wanted it to turn out AT ALL, but somehow it did. *sigh* I had this great idea of what I wanted it to look like: light, lilac, gives the impression of a painting...haha! But that's not what happened because I couldn't make it turn out like that! So it ended up being somewhat Gankutsuou-like (I love that anime's style). I'm hoping this isn't too crazy...it will probably give someone seizures or something.
Moving on...I love Sakura Taisen/Wars. I love the game series. XD It's so much fun; I finished all 4 on Dreamcast (imported, in Japanese)...too bad I can't play #5! Anyhoo, Sumire is my least favorite of the characters. *cough*sorry*cough* But I really loved how she looked in this scan, so I decided to use it:http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Sakura-Wars/item42180/
The hardest part, as usual, was the extracting/cleaning up of the scan. When I extracted her...well, in the scan she doesn't have the other part of her! The right side is cut off...so I had to draw her other shoulder, arm, part of the kimono...boob. *laugh* I'm rather pleased with how she turned out, though I wish I didn't end up covering it all up so much with the texture. I smudged and repainted more of her...and then I tried working on the background. I extracted several images of violets (since that's her color and what her name means) and then placed them in. Again, unfortunately, you can't really tell where they are anymore! XD I did a lot of work for nothing...but I think the end product looks ok, don't you??
After giving up on making a background by scratch and making it look terrible, I decided to try and find a texture that would look nice. And I did...here:http://polkadotvanity-stock.deviantart.com/art/Flower-Texture-81234022Then after more brushwork, color changes, filters...changes of blending and erasing things away, this is what I ended up with. I like how I erased the texture from her skin and just kept it mainly on her kimono etc. It's placed on luminosity to give it the effect you see. Umm...*thinks* I was very unhappy with how this was earlier because I seemed to waste a lot of time on it, but I hope someone likes it...
This took roughly 4-5 hours? I'm not sure...something like that? Well, regardless, I hope someone likes this piece of crap. Thank you. :3

Don't see many Sakura Wars walls around here. :) It's a shame too because I love that show too! The background has a strange effect on it. I like that it is abstract but I feel I don't like all the random textures because it makes it appear to be lower quality than it is. The way it overlaps the character's head is a bit odd too. But the colours and idea are good. :) Thanks for the Sakura Wars wall.

You already know what I think of it from my comment on TheO, but I still think I should write about it here too. I love it because it's original and not many people would attempt this style, especially the odd (in a good way) coloring and textures. I'm faving it here too because I think it's awesome :3 Try as you might, you won't change my opinion!

Well dear friend you have fallen back on your feet with this wallpaper I new you had talent, Gankutsuou is also one of my fav anime and style and I can see it perfectly in this wallpaer, I love the textures and patterns as well as the blending of colors and smooth flow from one pattern style to the next it's just lovely. Hello again Angel! Firstly, I'd like to say this wall has my download, fave, and full support of the Oboro-chan army (see my avatar for reference as to what the army will look like)! This is definately a new one from what you normally do, and I think you pulled it off well. I love the patterns that wind their way all throughout the work, and I love the flat color treatment given to the character. It gives the wall a strong pop effect.
The type is handled very nicely, so no complaints there, and the overall image itself is strong and ties itself together. The color palette is limited, which is good, and the image is nice and smooth, even with the texture effect (meaning that its clean and flowing). The texture doesn't harm the image in any way either.
Now my only complaint is this: Angel, you aren't giving yourself enough credit! You're a great waller, and I dare anyone to say otherwise! You gotta have confidence in yourself and your work. The people who download this, as I have, will greatly appreciate your hard work and thank you for your contribution to this site :3

Thanks for this masterpiece! Sakura Wars wallpapers are indeed hard to find on the web. That's a beautiful picture of Sumire and she looks very natural in the wall, which is very artistic with all the colors, textures and the brushes you've picked. Excellent job!

It looks good. I think you over did the textures, but I seriously don't think it deserve to be called... *reads your description*... a piece of crap. I can't believe after you did so much work that you wrote you'd end up by saying "I hope someone likes this piece of crap".
You use so many textures that takes away the attention from the character. Maybe a more simple style would suit your scan better. Maybe you can try using a plain light color for your background, maybe light gray or light purple then add the textures or anything you want only around the characters. You don't need to fill up the whole empty place, IMHO.
I am going to give this wall some love, since you apparently did not give it yourself.
