OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME!

You can see the amount of hard work and the lack of sleep put into it XD It's a very pretty looking wall, I especially love the lighting and I only wish that every wallpaper on AP was as awesome as this! Make more walls plz!

Nice work on the background, especially the tone and detail on the lamppost and clouds - it looks awesome. The line-work of the characters feels a bit out of place though, but everything else is fine. :D

Hehe well the title sort of matches the background a little but I think it should be better "Midnight Light" at singular since we have only a lamp.But what can I say,I am really really impressed by the wallpaper.I mean of course when I hear "painted" I just think that I should look at least and if it good I should appreciate it.Well the background is simple but very well done,she looks cute and the dragon is really impressive and yeah I got to say just like you I so love the lamp,it looks really good,hehe!

My apologies for not commeting sooner.Right anyways the background look nice and so does the lamp post which looks very realistic making this wallpaper look great indeed.But their are some things which i dont find very nice.The things that i dont find nice are the dragons umm whiskers.At the top part they look a bit distorted and their arnt very smooth now.The lighting effect put to this wallpaper is indeed very nice and looks very great.Overall this wallpaper is good but the point i pointed out should be corrected and also if u would post a 1600 x 1200 wallpaper.Not these kinds of sizes. I must confess I don't like the anime at all. However: the wallpaper is amazing from the artistic point of view. Awesomely clean lines, well done highlights and shadows, nice yet clean gradients and colors. I can't think of a better way to show ones own attitude towards an anime or manga, but in perfection of the wallpaper you make. And this is clearly an awesome example!

Favorite, because I can only imagine how much work went into making it - and that is what counts a lot for me.

Really nicely done. Spirited Away is one of my favorite animes of all time, u did a very nice job with everything in this, i and think it deserves a higher grade than a B, maybe at least a B+ or maybe even an A-. But hey u did a very good job, thank u for uploading.

Finally! OMG, everybody loves LAMP /o/ Lamp FTW! Now that I got that out my system, this turned out much better than I could ever imagine (which I should have expected, coming from you). omg 'tis complete :O and 'tis beautifully painted. i love the roof thing on the lamp -- i think i told you that already lol. minor complaint though: the underside of the roof should be brighter because it's directly lit by a nearby light source. right now, minus the glow, the roof thing looks like it's lit by the moon (or some other source of distant lighting). but still, it's pretty.

and the bridge turned out really nice :3 you are good at overcoming stumpers (is that even a word?). must steal ability and finish my wips. D: what else to say...oh yeah, love the general lighting work on the characters, especially chihiro.

This is the coolest and most beautiful Spirited Away wall I've ever seen. I love the detail of Chihiro and the dragon. Everything has incredible detail as well the bridge, night sky, even the freaking lamp lol......GREAT JOB!

Wow truly a master piece fitting of such a film, if I didn't no better I'd say you painted the whole thing yourself, it looks so masterfully crafted, I love the darkened sky it's so fitting of her emotional state throughout the film, so caught up in emotion and only her love and caring heart to keep her under control, there's not a lot of flash and fancy sparkles which is perfect because it doesn't need it, it has such a classic feel and I just love the atmosphere. Great work A+ and a fav .(n_n).

Love the painting and the lighting. The rich colours are all very nice. And who doesn't love a ghibli wall? Only thing I don't like are the squiggly lines of the lineart... could've been cleaned up.

I am constantly hunting the animepaper website for the next great Ghibli wallpaper...this is one of the best I've encountered in a looong time. I love the night sky with the smoky clouds, the lit up lantern, and overall the rich tones you used. Currently set as my background and defintely added to my favorites. Great job!

The colors are so 'soft' too~ (I would prefer it if the outlines are not black, but that's a minor issue - everything else looks great~) And the LAMP!!! >xD Oh, and the background....enough said *.* Love the clouds, love the sky and the bridge too~

ok... first of all, great wall, great painting technique, and great lamp! however... - though i like the night scene, this to me is just a tad too much on the dark side. but then that suits ur wall, coz its midnight and all. - lovin how u'v done the dragon but... if my memory serves me correctly, i distinctly remember him having shining scales. yes, i know u painted it. however, a few glimmers or scale-like features might have been nice. - chihiro... i like how u redid her but i dont like what you did to her eyes. the darken/thickened lines, especially the lashes. i dont know why... i know it makes her look more girly, but i prefer her the way she was originally. putting lashes on her makes her look... pathetic. sorry.

other than the above, i really like the way you did the shadows on both the characters and the bridge (?). very well done!

My fav part is the light house (?) because it looks so 3d. You did a great job as always. I would make the color pallete a bit different but that is just a matter of taste. favs <3

A fav wallpaper, Ms. Bernouli. The lighting is good especially from that lamp. And I have to admit this, the way you paint this wallpaper is really good. Ah, the movie, Spirited Away, is absolutely fantastic ~ It's nice to see a good wall that's been inspired by it.

As others have mentioned, the title matches the background, and I think it's perfectly fitting. The entire piece is.. a bit dark, and I think that if there were a bit more contrast in the painting, it'd help everything in the wall stand out even more, but even so - I have to say that the paint job was done magnificently, and the shading that is there is very well done, too.

Haha, whoever thought that the image was a vector obviously didn't take a very close look at the wallpaper itself. What you mentioned about the lineart was accurate, but I don't think you should be so harsh on yourself. It looks good, and it could be improved with crisper, cleaner lines in my opinion, but at the same time ~ the sketchy look makes the piece seem.. even more authentic and makes the fact that the wall is completely painted become more obvious, so overall - no, it's good. It looks very good.

Haku looks so suave ~ and Chihiro looks very strong. I think the scans you decided on were good choices, and very fitting. I have to say that the styles.. of the background and the characters seem a little bit detached, but not so much that they're awkward. I'm sorry ^^;; the only reason I'd even point it out is because I'm extremely meticulous and I look for each detail, so don't mind my nipping ~

I like the lamp, too; see, the contrast on that was done very well, I think ~ and I like how it seems to glow and radiate from the light source. In the background, I think.. to help with making the entire wall look more like one style would be to make the clouds a bit less wispy and more defined so it fits with the lamp and the characters. However, it does also give off a more "midnight-y" atmosphere, which corresponds with the title of the wallpaper, so hey ~ I might be wrong : )

You did a good job, and I like it. Oh, also, one last thing - I think it's incredible that you were able to make the wood in the piece look so much like wood even though it's painted. I know it's a small detail, but it's just something I noticed. From personal experience - whether it be graphically or with actual paint - making paint look like wood is difficult, so props for that.

Mmm, yes this wallpaper is quite nice. I like Spirited Away and i liked both of this characters. I like how you used dragon Haku instead of Haku in hes human form cause well Haku looks more like a boy here, i don't really like hes hair, makes him look like a girl -.-'

Anyway nice painting~ i like all of the components you have used here. The lamp, bridge and the clouds mixed in with Haku and Chihiro. They all look nice together ^^ I like the lighting of the lamp too.

by what i heard, my plan worked.... got you sweating eh? >:3

anyway, i'll write this in a way so you can learn and improve a bit. 1st since i've followed the process of your work, you made a grave mistake since the beggining. that mistake, was the lack of planning. you were always like "what to put next?" . you even shaded the full character before knowing wich lightning you would put

2nd, lightning could be better. in this it looks kinda dull and fake. you should've spent more time than you've spend refining it, for example, if the light is yellow, most the scene would be drunk on a yellowish, for mostly all tones.

3rd, surely the lamp is way done, however is way too realistic. not that is a bad thing, but in this case doesnt fit, kinda reminds those animes that have 3D CG, but the drawings are ugly as hell (talking on ugly, hate for chihiro o /) thing that i read somewhere, was if you want to add realism to something, you add or remove lines. thicker the lines, less the realism

anyway, as an overall, and considering that perspective isnt easy, mainly if you're trying to make the perspective fit one already made char. i already mentioned the ones that are more bothersome. overall is good

now if you wonder why i took all this time to comment. there is just just 1 thing that pisses me off, and that is reminders, tips, and all kind of ads. even if you didnt done on purpose, you done. remember that person you talk so bad of? you were doing the same. hope this is the last time i call your attention for this topic.

anyway, even tough i critiqued it so much above, its overall is good, good scene, painting could be better tough fav+

I think your painting skills are great and the end result turned out terrific.

Great fusion of the scans. It worked out well. The digital stroke marks feel sort of weird, but I guess thats the style you were aiming for. I guess I am too use to that flat shaded cell look with the occasional gradients.

That's absolutely crazy (in a very good way) to paint all of that wall. I'm highly impressed. Don't worry too much about the line art. By the time anyone gets over the fact that you painted that whole thing, they wont care about the line art any more. Awesome work.

I think there's too much light on Chihiro's face, unless there's supposed to be a second light source - otherwise I think more of her face would be shadowed considering the angle she's at.

I very much applaud your choice of ditching wimpy Chihiro and using another Chihiro image as your source for this.
