Wow. This took quite some time! This is my first time vectoring from a black and white manga scan. I rarely vector, and this was my most different! It was quite a challenge, but at the same time...I actually had fun. :3 Yah, I said it. I had "fun." That's odd for me these days...since I usually dislike the wallpapers and vectors I work on. Well, I like this one. I hope that more people do, too. Now then, here's the nitty-gritty.
I used my scan...I thought this one of Ritsuka was so adorable!! I find it funny that people that aren't familiar with Loveless find it hard to believe that he is a, well, "he." My brother and another friend of mine were like, "You mean 'she,' right? It's a girl, isn't it?" Hah, no . Anyhoo...scan: ^0 Then I continued to vector! This was definitely one that I worked the hardest on. I spent a lot of time on the outlines because I made them really thick at first...and then erased them away. I don't usually do that. I wanted to make my vector different from the original so I changed some things. I got rid of the clover in his mouth, made the clover in his hair yellow so it's more like a flower, and I gave him butterfly wings. THAT was definitely the hardest part. -__- Wretched butterfly wings! I didn't know how to make them look right...I tried so many different versions...different shapes and colors. Then I ended up making them with the freeform pen tool using my tablet. They still haunt me...and that's kind of why I have the layout as I do now...
As you can see, it's a close-up of him. I like focusing on faces, I can't help it! I had the full vector of him in there in the field, but it was annoying me...looked too small, and I didn't want to look at the wings. So here's my other version if you wanna see/download:
The vector had over 100 layers, but I think that's just because I don't know how to combine shape layers like I should. :/ It took about a week of working on and off...so probably well over 10 hours. ^^; Then a couple more hours for the wallpaper. My first fully vectored wallpaper, too! I usually use brushwork for the background, but I didn't this time. Oh, and I found those butterflies for the background here. What else to say other than this is one of my brightest and different wallpapers yet. I wanted it to be very summery. Warm colors everywhere. I kind of feel stupid that I did all that work on the full vector, and then I didn't even show it all off. XD I guess that's why I'll submit it as standalone later! Well, I hope you like this! Thanks for looking--comments are greatly appreciated.
Full vector accepted: View.

Waaaa, first comment! Your latest wall is gorgeous. Awesome vectoring and creativity from that black/white scan! I absolutely LOVE the colors, they're so vibrant... and blend nicely with everything. The wings you added to him back really give the wall a great effect. It's so happy and warm, great job! <3

I haven't commented on a wall for a while but when I saw this I just had to. Ritsuka is so cut and I love the bright colours, perfect for summer. I really don't see why people think he is a girl but that's just me. I love it! +fav

I think your vectoring is really good but some more work could be put in the edges and lines :] Otherwise, I like the color choices and the wall is very cute. Good work~~

Ritsuka is so cute... This wall is very colorful. I wish you would have used his whole body and made the wall more scenic, but that's just me. Great vector work, too. :'D
Also, if you wanna combine your shapes of the same color, and you don't wanna get things to cluttered, you can press the "+" button before starting again and it'll be added onto that same layer shape, without automatically making a new layer. hope that helps for future vectoring. ;)

This wall is perfect, you do such awesome work you really don't give yourself enough credit, the vectoring is top quality, the colors are bright and glowing like a rainbow and the wings are transparent which is just lovely, the butterfly's make the background that much more beautiful. I just love your style. A+ and a fav .(n_n).

It's nicely done... I prefer if the orange bg was a scenery... and her violet hair is contrast to the orange bg..

Wow, love the bold colors used on this. The vector looks great! Perfect combo =D
4 years, 11 months ago
wow, that's really amazing that you put all the pretty coloring into there! *impressed* i love mostly everything about it. except for the hair--i feel like it's missing a shine or something and doesn't look authentic enough. and i must admit it's extremely difficult to make hair vectors look good. and also, the wings are a bit bright on the eyes for me. but i suppose i can see the look you're going for--colorful, bright, and summery? all in all, it's a happy wall and i like it(: keep up the good work ^_^d

Lovely colors awesome.... your way vectoring and using brushes.... the combination of colors area pleasure for eyes love it...

Great job making that from a black-white manga scan. It costed some time as I see, 10 hours can be pretty long, when you are lazy (as me). I myself like more the scenic version as the close up, but thats just my opinion. +Fav

thumbs up for you! you really done it very great!
a black and white manga scan turns into a wonderful art
Ritsuka looks like a girl here because of his facial expression, he's so cute!
here it goes, first the colors you used is brilliant, it makes the entire wallie full of life, your able to show the "fun" you felt when making it
second those outlines are really nice, the clover usually it's color is green but you make it yellow that looks like a flower here, nice idea!
third those shapes you used are cool! then you put him a butterfly wings, really amazing!
and final how you vector this loveless wallpaper is really gorgeous! i like it very much n_n
Good Job to you!

*is having a jealousy attack* I know I commented on it on TheO but I couldn't not show my support here as well! This wallie is so well done and deserves all the love I can give it! p(T_T)q I want to vector as awesome as you! *goes to cry in emo corner*
Um, back to the wallie itself lol. I love every bit of it and I'm glad you also put up the full version, though I like them both and can't decide which to have on my desktop! And I see you used shapes now (forgot to mention this in TheO), I suppose it was easier to do than with Stroke Path. And yeah, those wings are CRAZY! You sure had a lot of patience in making them but I'm glad you did, they're so sparkly and cute! <3
You get extra points for the awesome color combination, it gives off such a summery feeling! Truly a good idea to start the summer with! +fave from me, 'tis always difficult to vector a manga scan and you pulled it off marvelously! Keep up the great work, ok? I'll be [strike]stalking[/strike] looking forward to your new works! :)

kawaiiii that's all I can say when I see his little face the wallie looks awesome quite a hard work and a great piece!
Super nice job on this congrats

Zakuro-chan... I'm proud of you. I mean, you have shown us great vectors, but this time, the original image was B&W... And it turned out SO well - the accurate lines, the colouring. Awesome! The wings you added yourself are pretty cool as well. The colorscheme of the entire composition is really attarctive, lively, good.
Now, the other side of the coin. First, I think some butterflies actually fit, but the BG looks busy and confusing. The previous statements could refer to both versions you uploaded. But let's separate them: I totally think you should submit your version with the entire vector as a new wallpaper. Because it's a waste, IMO, to use only a part of the vector. Also, that way, the wallpaper breathes more properly. More pleasant, more "scenic" (if you know what I mean), more interesting - I like the secondary version much more, actually.
See? When I talked about "diversity" I meant something like this. Heh.
EDIT: I will alter 1 f the "suggestions" - rather uploading the 2nd version as the main, and the current main one, as an alternative.

Yay for another Loveless wallpaper! < 3 I think your vector looks great, but it will look even greater if you spent more time cleaning up the outlines. Still, I love the way you did his hair and face ^.^ The background, with all its warm pleasant colors look awesome, and you did a great job of blending everything in~
Great job!

Well this wallpaper is amazing, enough said. You put a great amount of time into the wall and vector, and for that you deserve a +Fav. Overall the color scheme is great, and the butterfly scheme works to perfection, especially with the focal point on the character and his wings. You spent a lot of time on it, and you should be proud of your work, great job.

I love the burst of colors! It's making me crave juice! *goes to get some water ==* The purple hair is nice hehe.
I also like the full body version better. It looks a bit fresher to me. I think it's because he's in such a cute motion that the whole image should be shown. I like the sparklies and the partially transparent parts in the wall. It adds to the juiciness. Having said that, I think the blurry parts in his wings make the wallpaper kind of dirty and confusing, because the blurry parts look more like smears of color and I don't think that matches the crispness of everything else. I also think the grass and the clouds are choppy in some parts, and while messy is cute, I don't think it looks like the right kind of messy here. But overall, good job!! You're becoming better and better!

thatta a girl *pats Zakuro's head and praises her bishies collection ... but suddenly stops for how creepy and suspicious that was 0,0'*
This is a painful looking vector *hands Zakuro some eyes drop* it really shows how hard you worked on it, looks great. But I'm not a fan of the butterfly brushes. Looks too real for this kind of wallpaper and takes our attention away from that more-feminine-looking-than-me boy >_>.

Lovely done :3 My favorite part is definitely the cute lil violet blush (XD) You version looks so bright 8)E and warm. Just amazing. Great job on those butterfly wings.I know how hard it is to add something new to the already existing scan. (i had a lot of failed atempts at that) I planed my wall to be bright and shiny too but it got wrong somewhere . . . . in the beginning i think. Love those little details like those lil sparks.

I am in love with the bold color palette that you used for this wall, especially since this is from a black and white scan! And I have to commend you for the way the butterfly wings meld with the rest of the picture even though you added them in.

Zakuro-chan this is AMAZING! It's awesome how you improved with the vectors, and I must say that this is your best one|(n_n)| ok how can I start, first of all you started from a manga cover but the painting looks just perfect ( I love his hairXD yes he is a HE! haha sometimes it's hard to believe) the wings were a really nice touch for it, they give more detail to the wall, still I like more the complete version, it looks more scenic anyways you made an excellent job! keep it up Zakuro-chan!

OMG ! Ritsuka is just so cute in this, good job!

Such an adorable picture of everybody's favorite cat boy, Ritsuka. And, in my opinion, the bright and vivid color scheme helps tremendously to capture and draw the viewer's eye in.

Hello and Greetings once again Angel. Now as a guy, I don't know if I'm allowed to like "Loveless," but I can't help myself XD. Along those lines, for me to say this is one of the best walls I've seen in a bit may cause people to ask questions /(O_O)/
I'll take the risk though! This wall is fantastic. Everything from the vector to the brush stroke choice is fantastic. The image of Ristuka is simply adorable. I've noticed poor Ristuka always ends up dressed like a girl in a lot of images of him, but hey, he seems to pull it off just fine. The butterfly wings are very nice, and add a nice stroke texture to the wall. The colors are very commanding, which I always approve of.
All that said, I see nothing bad about this wall at all. Its simply gorgeous, and deserves many A's! Time to click the Fave star ^^.
Well now I feel i need to go make a comment on a wall featuring a sexy lady, so the lovely people at AP don't wonder which side of the fence I'm on...p(ToT)q
(All joking aside though, stellar wallpaper here^^)
-Cheers!

Ah I remember this taking you some time. I was all "what the heck is a vector o_O" haha. Yeah, great job on this, I think the vector and the wings look fab. I'm not as big a fan of the background... I'm not sure if the extra butterflies fit as well as they could... But I love butterflies so I won't complain XD
Very cute and colourful ^^

I like the closeupness of it, too! It really makes Ritsuka the focus (as opposed to making the focus be "a cute scene with an incidental Ritsuka in it". The butterfly wings are great, too; they have that cute little feel that's just right for this (because butterflies can go two ways, cutesy or elegant, and you went in the right direction here IMO.)
