Hi Guys :D its me with new wallie of Kiki 8)E first of all here's the original scan that i've found it on Google and its small and having alot of texts:http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/kiki/kiki_usabvhe_vhs_sub.jpgbut i like it and i decided to make a wallie of it |(n_n)| i've made the lines with the pen-tool and then i've coloured it and i've use the burn-tool to make the scan looks great , and i take the cat ( actually the cat isn't with the scan ) so i take it and made it vector and put it with kiki to looks fit with the wallpaper, now about the whole wallpaper: this background and this wallpaper tooks me hours to make it , actually the background tooks me 1day to finish it because i want something fit and looks good with the whole wallpaper, and i've made the sea , mountains, clouds and make them looks like the anime, and grass ( i've made the grass by myself with the pen-tool ) and i've added tree, and some grass , and when i finished i've added texture and i've changed the colours like always .(n_n). i Hope you guys like it! ^^ ~Enjoy~

It reminds my a little of your last wallpaper, probably used a similar technique of painting and smudge combination. Since I liked that one, also this. You make nice wallies, AG. It's a cool thing to make wall from your fav anime right? :3 +Fav

well, i fink its really cool. i like the water colour type effect, but now that i think bout it, its also the same type of brush/smudge effects =D i also like the bright colours used which makes the wall stand out more than other. Very good. ^_^

Ok, I have several problems with this wallpaper.
First, why do you use that SAME tree brush in every single wallpaper you've made in like the last couple months? If it's not in every single wallpaper, it dang well seems like it.
That mist stuff, it was in your last wall too, and when it might have been necessary in the last one, it's definitely not in this one. It's a bright, clear day. There should be no mist at all.
Your clouds. Kiki is obviously looking at these clouds from far away, beyond the mountain's horizon line, but they are huge, too huge. They need to be smaller to get the whole perspective of this wallpaper, maybe make them smaller and then a tiny larger as they appear closer, and this gives great depth to a wall. I think you should have painted your clouds too. It's just something about stock clouds that throw off a painted/vector wall. @_@
Your mountains are flat, and your grass is flat too. The grass needs more shading in areas, and just not the tops, darkened grass on the tops doesn't make sense... It just doesn't look right in my opinion. =/
Your vector. I really wish you'd of taken the time to vector in her line art, because with the way you burn the edges of every different color on her it makes her just.. well look bad. You didn't pay attention to the shading that was on the original image, you just went around and darkened all the edges of the scan and thought "good enough, I'm done." And again, it makes it look so flat when you "shade" your vectors like that with the burn & Dodge tool.
I strongly suggest you paint your vectors if you want them to have nice shadows, because burning and dodging just isn't the best way to do it, but the lazy and cruddy looking way of doing it.
Please don't get offended by this rather large critique, and if it was rude it was not intentional. I just try to give advice is all. -_-
Good luck =)

Your latest Ghibli walls have gotten better and better. :) I love the style of this one and how it is consistent throughout, which was a low-point for the other two because there was less consistency. I like the papery look and texture to the wall. Only thing holding this wall back are those STUPID BRUSHES you used for the tree in the top right corner and in the distance. Those do NOT fit with anything else in the wall, but since it is minor I guess I can let it pass. Haha.

I have to agree with the critique from Bern HOWEVER...... I think your vectoring is improving by every wall. And it is great to see you trying hard at your vectoring... which can be hard at first. =) (Especially the fact that you are kinda still learning the basics of vectoring.) Your vectoring will no doubt get better by every wall, so don't give up and just keep on trying. ;)

I don't get it. First of all, let me preface this with the following. I'm not being mean. I'm being honest, as more people should be. Art or anything of the like, is not about making people feel good or being popular, it's about creating and improving. When someone tells you theres something wrong in a painting you have done, you take note, and move on ad don't make the same mistake again. This is something I truly feel you have no grasp of. Now, onto this wall. It is clear to me, tat you have no concept of lighting or depth whatsoever. I'm going to explain it to you here, and I hope you take what I say and use it the next time you do a wall that involves these things. I'm giving you advice to help you improve. You need to define a light source. Clearly, yours is the sun. The sun is an easy one since it's so far away and gives off such a broad light. Even so, it has to be in a specific area in the sky, and this will dictate the ways in which the shadows fall. According to the clouds, the sun is in the upper left. This means that shadows would form on the lower right of the objects. Thats the basic idea. There is obviously more than that to something so complex, such as bounced light and reflected light, and backlighting, but thats something to learn later. As for depth, if you stand on a tell hill and face a mountain range, things are not all perfectly clear and in focus for miles. As things get farther away, they fade out. The atmosphere gets in the way. So, the mountains you have...they would be faded out. Also, depending on where the focus on the wall is, certain parts would be blurred out. In this case, she is in the foreground, so the background would get blurrier as it goes back. If she was in the background, then the foreground would be blurrier the closer it is to the screen , and sharper the closer to the character it is.
As said by others, that mist makes no sense. it's too late in the day for it to exist. That would only happen early early in the morning. I have imagination (I'm an animator...I have to), but it's also not helping the image, so it looks out of place.
So there you go. Basics in art that you need to know. Yes, NEED. I hope you take this info and use it to make your next wallpaper better, because as far as I'm concerned, with how long you have been walling, you should have a basic understanding of the concepts I just mentioned.
Quality over quantity.

I think a bit more depth and perspective would have made this better. This is a great image that could've been smashing with a bit more detail... to me it looks to "flat".=( )
But I'm absolutely no pro and this is much more than what I could do. Love Jiji looking back at me! .|(VcV)|

Kalico had some good points, and it was a good criticism, but I felt it was a little unbalanced. He/She didn't point out anything good about this. One thing you do have is style, and a very good one. I like your sharp edges, and soft inner shading. It gives a good feel to an already great Miyazaki wallpaper. : ) I'm sure you'll pay attention to details such as the light source in the future, but I honestly can't say I noticed too bad. Peace!
