Wolf's Rain. Ugh. Four filler eps back-to-back in the middle of the second season which were all recaps - some using exactly the same recap sequences as the previous recap ep - just from the POV of a different character with his voice-over. Just stupid. Apparently BONES couldn't procure the footage fast enough to continue with production, so they created the filler eps so they could fulfill their contract obligations to the broadcaster (MBS, I think.) The result was that anyone who liked the series had to go and buy the OAVs they made at the end of it all which were the final three-four eps of the series combined into OAVs.

Second prize, since I hate Naruto and have never seen Bleach - probably goes to Inuyasha. They've got this great story arc going on about fracturing the Shikon-no-Tama and trying to beat Naraku to all the shards, yet they take all these detours which have nothing to do with the main thread, and which all seem to begin with Inuyasha angrily saying, 'Kagome, why aren't we looking for the Shikon shards??"

Currently I'm into Eureka Seven, and have only seen the one filler ep in that series - but it's rare in that it incorporates a bit of new footage and actually advances the overall storyline. It's still a recap/filler ep though. Still...I've seen far worse. (*cough* Wolf's Rain *cough*)
