Poey

Greetings,

After over decade running AP we've made the tough decision to suspend normal operation of the site for the near future. Sadly there aren't enough hours in the day and it was time to make a decision on what to spend our efforts on. It's a pivotal time for our other project right now and we do not have the focus, manpower or system resources to run everything we have got right now.

We'd like to thank the community for their support over the past decade. It's been a pleasure.

Pro users may still log in below. We are no longer accepting new registrations.

Best,
AP Staff

Amazing image! Great choice of scan, and this got me REALLY excited for the third movie...

The wallpaper looks good, but I'm questioning the technique you chose to expand the image to the left/right. I'm don't know much about photoshop, but it looks like you used the Clone tool or some form of copy/paste, because I'm seeing a LOT of repeated stars going to the left (look at the three bright stars, and their surroundings). The same thing happens when I look to the right. So that's something to be aware of next time you work on patterns like this. Make it more random somehow, or create it yourself to ensure that it isn't repeated. I hope that helps!

Well done! Great choices for stock images and brushes, I think the background blends well with the vector you chose. I think the colors work well, with a duller background. The colors fit your choice of song to inspire the title. (I'm a big Porcupine Tree fan... and I'll be honest, it's the reason I decided to comment hah!)

I will say that the realistic clouds and greenery at the bottom don't really coordinate with the animated character. It seems strange and takes away from the blend of the overall imagery. If they were drawn as well, then I think it would be better. It is very subtle though, because you chose them well.

Nice job!

I love this! Great scene to choose for a wallpaper. You really brought it to life as a wallpaper. The colors are fantastic, the stars are in good taste. The thumbnail had me worried the stars would be too busy; in full-view it's much cleaner and better, although I'm still wondering if it's overwhelming or not. It does distract me a little from the scene itself.

Great job! I'll be using it on my desktop.

Amazing idea, very well done. I have no negative feedback. I'm using it as my current desktop wallpaper because it's somehow personal.

+fav, you deserve it.

Major, you did a GREAT job with this, I'm impressed. It has a very clean look, conceptually everything works, and you picked a great background for the scan I think. This has a great mood. Nice job!

Coheed and Cambria

The thing about Coheed and Cambria that I've always truly loved is their effort towards promoting the album as a unit of musical enjoyment. Way to many people are willing to just download one song and listen to it on repeat until their ears are bleeding but Coheed and Cambria have the good benefit of putting together great albums which tell stories and practice excellent balance. They are certainly one of the few musical groups that come to mind in terms of their support for the album.

Indeed, I think they're one of the most accessible groups that create album-based music, which I'm a big big stickler for.

I like Coheed a lot. Extremely catchy while still having real musical integrity.

You could change your avatar, OR you could just wait 11 months and suddenly it'll be in style again.

Do you think that you should follow your heart what you say or what others tell you?

Sorry if I complicate things, but here's a bit of a reality check... (AND ACTUAL MUSICAL ADVICE)

I'm a senior Music Major (getting my bachelor's, then going on and getting my Master's). It's definitely a lot of fun if you're passionate about it and you like the department and the people. However, remember that the degree may or may not truly apply to whatever you want to do and that nothing is guaranteed. Music isn't a very stable field, a degree in Biology would probably be more practical and useful for job-finding in the real world. Following your heart is all well and good, but remember that part of being human is our intellect... be careful you don't follow your heart off a cliff.

That said, again, I am a music major and I LOVE it. I don't want to graduate, I feel like I've learned so much and I still have so much to do while at school (which is why I'll be staying for a Master's). If you decide to go into music (even if you don't STUDY music and get a degree in it, but if you just go into music in general), then DO IT. Never let anyone tell you that you can't do it, and never let up. It's a big plunge, and you have to be committed. This also means that you'll have to put a LOT of work into it. It's not just saying "ok, I'm committed now" - it means 8 hours every day for a few years completely devoted to practicing to get a to a professional level, then working on establishing connections with other musicians, getting things together, etc. Even this doesn't guarantee you'll make a living, but it's a good start.

So... first you'll have to make up your mind, however you want to do that, and if you do "follow your heart", then goddamnit put a tracking device on it and follow it wisely.

Heh yeah well prog heads are a rare breed, especially out there I would imagine. I'm lucky I live near San Francisco, so I get a lot of shows. International prog acts who tour in the US sometimes just hit LA or something in southern California so I get screwed though. Oh well.

TOMORROW!
