You can grab volume 8 earlier than that if you were to go to Comic-Con in San Diego in mid July. I head out there every year just to pick up my favorite manga earlier than everyone else.

The manga doesn't have one thing that the anime did. The music. The music of Bebop is what made it great in my opinion. The plot was alright and everything, but the anime had such charisma because of its awesome soundtrack.

I usually run the gambit from paying either ten dollars for most manga and about eight dollars for viz or shonen jump manga like Deathnote. The prices don't seem fair though, because I usually finish a single manga volume in about an hour and I don't think ten bucks is worth an hour's worth of entertainment.

I guess most shinigami look similar in the sense that they have lanky arms and hunched backs. But MooFish was very correct in saying that they are distinctive from each other in their own ways. I've always thought of Rem as being the the more simpathetic one and Ryuk as being very sadistic. Ryuk commonly makes comments in small print that make him appear as the bad guy, but Rem always tried to help Misa and to do what was best for her. Kinda a long rant, but it's how I've felt about the two. Anyone else notice that both of their names start with an R? Probably meaningless, but just something that I instantly recognized.

The orginal Trigun manga was 2 volumes, but those two volumes were almost as thick as dictionaries. It took me a handful of hours to finish each one. And I was going to say Zombie Powder, but Kyto beat me to it.

I can only assume the worst from what you just said. I'm only on the fifth volume (because I'm only reading the american releases) and I've loved it ever since I picked it up. As for the movie, if it's going to cover the entire series in maybe 2 hours, it probably won't have any of the "internal monologue moments" that occur in the manga.

Bleach is on it's 229th chapter, so I'd say it's pretty long running too.

Dragon Ball Z was definitely a long series though...
