Anyone here has stopped watching Bleach or Naruto?

I stopped watchinf Bleach after ep58. it's just the sort of anime that has so many things going on but have nothing going on in terms of character development.

As for Naruto, I can't stand it because of one-too-many fillers, not to mention that I find most of the main characters annoying as hell. In fact, I can say that aside from Neji, Hinata and Shino, I dislike everyone.

I once stumbled into this manga and read through the first two chapters. Maybe that wasn't enough to give it justice but I did find it rather draggy. I mean, sure, there was this whole big revelation in the beginning but the mangaka takes too long to establish the reaction and it becomes a drag.

However, I guess I'll go check it out again sometime soon since the story picks up in volume 2.

P/S: I highly doubt it's coming to Malaysia. The content is definitely too mature.

which character that you like but rarely seen in the anime

Ichimoku Ren from Jigoku Shoujo and Jigoku Shoujo Futakamori.

Souseiseki from Rozen Maiden.

Ai Haibara/Shiho Miyano from Detective Conan/Case Closed.

And let's not forget Aoshi Shinomori from Rurouni Kenshin.

Oh, and Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter.

One of the best games ever! ^_^

Can't wait for the anime. It would be nice to have the characters in P3 make an appearance. But from experience, I'd say that they'll only be mentioned in casual references (like how Maya and Tatsuya from P2 were mentioned in P3).

However, the Persona series definitely has some of the best storylines so I'm really looking forward to the anime version.

Final Fantasy XII

it's a pretty good game but not the best of the FF series imo.

When I first got it, I kind of disliked the battle system. It gets SO tedious in the earlier parts because levelling is a real chore. I mean, I had to spend HOURS on Vaan at first because below lvl 10, he's pretty much useless. Besides, I used to hate real-time battles (I quite Dirge of Cerberus five minutes into it because of the battle system).

However, once I got used to it, I actually found myself liking it. It saves time and with the addition of gambit, makes it easier to manage the whole party. Most of all, I like the fact that I don't have to micromanage everything. Just set the gambit and let the other party member do what they're assigned to.

Speaking on the subject of license board, if you're a person who feels like your characters just HAVE to have every weapon and armour there is, then you're definitely in trouble. Just decide early on what kind of weapon and armour that character is going to use and concentrate on those license points. It's almost like the Grid system in FFX. I've already finished the game and I've still got 6000 to 9000 LPs to spare. Plus, use equipments to speed up the LP collecting (even EXP) process.

Storyline-wise, I honestly find it a real bore. It doesn't have the depth of its predecessors. Besides, you'll find yourself getting more involved with sidequests like hunts and esper hunting than immersing yourself in the intriguing plot (NOT).

One of the misgivings I have about this game is the complete, utter, and total uselessness of the espers. Summoning was supposed to be one of the key points in an FF series and espers are sort of like those GFs in FF8 and Aeons in FFX but they definitely lack the power and awesomeness of the latter. I just collect all of them for the sake of collecting but I never use them.

Plus, I can't find myself attaching myself to the characters. I mean, I like Balthier, and Ashe (beside Garnet, I think she's the best female FF lead ever!), and sometimes Vaan too. I don't like Penelo (weird hairstyle, cliched girl-next-door/childhood-friend type), and I absolutely have no feelings about Basch. Fran kicks butt but again, kind of dismissable. The only character that I really love is Larsa and he's not a regular character (he only joins as a guest character sometimes).

In short, it's a good time-filler. You'll definitely spend HOURS on it (I spent 120+ hours on it and most of them were spent grinding to fight the espers and hunts) but when you've finished the game, you'll realise that the story left very little impression on you. You don't even need to have a high level to defeat the final boss. In fact, some hunts and espers are a lot tougher to fight compared to the final boss. You'll find that storyline bosses are complete jokes compared to sidequest ones.

And did I tell you that it has no replay value whatsoever (provided that you finish collecting espers and completed hunts before finishing the game)? Once you're done with it, off it goes to the shelf until one day you muster enough boredom to look at it again.

Certain Animes you hate and like and why?

Haha, I hate Honey and Clover because of the stupid chibi lead, too. I really hate anime that has a female character where practically every male character in the series have the hots for. It's worse if the female character keeps going back and forth, acting all torn between the guys. It's revolting. I guess that's why I hate Ayashi no Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi (Yuu Watase doesn't exactly rate a high opinion in my books), Peach Girl, Hana Yori Dango, etc.

The kind of anime I like are usually dark, a bit depressing, with a mature theme. Example would be Death Note, Jigoku Shoujo, etc. Definitely no cutesy anime for me like Karin or Kamichu. But I also like good shoujo animes with a bit of slice of life in it like NANA and Nodame Cantabile.

Manga Characters^^

For me, I've always found myself rooting for the strong, silent types. Especially if they appear to be cool on the outside but actually have trouble expressing themselves. More often than not, I find myself liking the baddies in manga more than the main character because of the antagonistic streak in them that felt more real than the whole let's-save-the-world personalities in the main characters.

I also like strong female leads and characters that have weird personality quirks. Basically, I like characters that are not cliched or too perky. A little cuteness is welcome, but not in excess.

Some of my favourites are Nana Komatsu from NANA, Tohru Kouno from Princess Princess, Shiho Miyano/Ai Haibara from Detective Conan/Case Closed, Killua from Hunter x Hunter, etc.

I don't think it's just for kids. Some of them have adult themes. Take Only Yesterday and Grave of the Fireflies for example. They both deal with issues that kids won't understand.

As for me, I confess that I've watched Howl's Moving Castle at least five times. <3 it's so good! The only ghibli movie I haven't watched is Porco Rosso. But I really like Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart and Mononoke Hime. Others I only watched because it's from ghibli. Didn't really like Nausicaa and Laputa. And Totoro was only fairly okay.

What do you think about dream recording?

On average, a person dreams 200 different dreams every night. So if you do remember your dream, it's probably the dream you're having right before you wake up.

I always thought dream recording is a cool idea but never felt compelled to try it. It's usually because I never have the time to. But I love dreaming. Sometimes, right after I wake up, I'd roll around for a few minutes, recalling a nice dream I just had. It's easy to remember then but after a few hours, most of the details would have been wiped away. So the only thing left to do is to look forward to the next dream.

By the way, I always wished I can dream about celebrities or anime or manga characters that I have a crush on. It sounds silly, I know, but it would be nice if it happens. However, it almost never does. Even if it did, I probably never remembered it. There was one time, though, I was dreaming that I was climbing up this really high tower. I was above the clouds when I realised that I was dreaming. So I let go and fell but then Kurosaki Ichigo from Bleach suddenly appeared to catch me. I laughed for a long time after I woke up from that. Heh.

FFXIII: Next big hit or a crash and burner?

Whether it's going to be great or not just depends on the person playing it, won't it? I mean, each FF series is different and different people have different preferences on which of the FF installment they like (did I just type different three times?).

I mean, some people will say that FFVIII was awesome while some will say it's nothing much. My favourite FF so far has been FFIX and I know a lot of people say that it's not very good. Even FFXII, there are people who hate it because of the change in battle system and others who love it for that same reason.

So it's just a matter of opinion if it's a good installment or not. But you can be sure that it's going to be popular anyway since the FF series has a HUGE following. People will still play it, no matter what the reviews say.

I think Beck needs a new season. I'd have loved to see the American tour and Avalon Festival scenes

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight is a good series but I think Merupuri is better. In VK, the story is not very well-developed as it kept repeating the same thing every chapter. Yuuki would reminisce about the first time she met Kaname, Zero would be off somewhere struggling to fight his vampiric urges, Yuuki would say "I never even knew Zero was suffering so much", Yuuki would go off on some pursuit, got herself into trouble and then Zero would come to the rescue.

I thought that Yuuki was a pretty annoying character. And it was a shame since Matsuri had the ability to create more convincing female lead. Airi in Merupuri was a great example. She was strong, not afraid to go after what she wanted and her love for Aram was so pure. Yuuki was just plain useless. She couldn't even fight. In every fight scene she was involved with, she was always being saved by Zero.

Beside that, it seemed as if every character (except for the main characters) in the series was pasted on. They didn't have real personalities even though some of them were given background information. You just have a sense they're there just to fill in the 'beautiful people' quota.

Death Note

I only started reading Death Note because I read a one-shot story that came out before the series were out. It was sort of a prelude of the DN series and Ryuuk was in it (though the lead male char wasn't Raito).

Obviously, I'm rooting for L. Raito had all the right intentions in wanting to create a world without evil but chose the wrong way to do it. But as the story progressed, it was obvious that he became drunk with power. He went from "I want a better world" to "I want a world where everyone worships me". He wanted to shape the world according to his rules, and his own ideals. That's just wrong.

In the end, he's just another control freak. I think the ending was fitting, him being killed by the Note and all. It's what I'd call poetic justice.

Who would be your special "anime someone"?

This is kinda hard. I love L from Death Note but if we're talking about the person I can imagine building a life with... it will definitely have to be Aoshi Shinomori from Rurouni Kenshin.

Apart from the fact that he's super hot, what attracts me to him the most was how instense he is. He's a person who takes his responsibility seriously. Though his utter seriousness can sometimes mislead him, he's always willing to realise the mistake he makes and face the consequences. He looks cold and unapproachable, but he cares about the people around him more than they realise.

Reading the manga (I don't watch the anime) especially towards the end of the series, you can see how much Aoshi grows as a character and there are so many times that I wish he's a real person so I can marry him!

|(VcV)| Aoshi-sama, I love you!
