What? It'd prove your point that people just walk past other's sufferings? You're asking yourself the question that any person with half a brain has asked themselves at some point.
People are vicious because they're scared. The whole time. The ones who make it a habit of picking on people are just worried about being seen as weak themselves, and so make sure that they are seen as dominant...any means necessary.
Why are we unable to acknowledge the good works of someone we 'hate'? Because that would mean admitting that we are wrong. Presumably we 'hate' them because we see them as bad people, so to recognize a 'good' thing from them, would be to undermine our opinion of them, and *shock horror* maybe reevaluate how we see them, which we're fairly reluctant to do.
Why do we believe things before clarification or proof? Because being a skeptic is hard work, not least amongst our peers. If A says 'blah blah' to B, and B knows no differently, what do they have to gain by saying 'well, actually...' except to annoy A?
And the most important question; why do we walk by. Because we're a self centered race, in a society all about personal goals and self gratification. We're living in a time when communicating with people has never been easier, but becoming more cut off on a personal level every single day.

Wait, does this apply to where you were born, where you are now, or what nationallity you are?? 0.0 Anyways, I think the US has some major problems(no offense). I don't wanna say anything further about the US. Now, as for China, I'd say that we have even BIGGER problems. I don't like either of them, but I also don't hate either of them. The only thing I want to change is those darn taxes! I work hard for that money and I'm not paying for the old people! I don't care that when I'm old, people will be paying for me! And(sorry for this)screw the Poilce, and roads! They can get their own money!(sorry).
