Well... I wanna clear things up. As I said RAM can affect download speed. But it is extremely rare.

Why? Because when you are using P2P, you download random packets and HDDs suck at handling random access. When you are downloading at a very high speed, your HDD will overload and this causes the download speed to go down dramatically. This is when RAM in form of disk cache plays its role. If configured properly, disk cache can put off or even prevent (in some cases) HDD overloading, thus the download speed doesn't go down.

More RAM means more disk cache, therefore, there's more chance that the HDD will not overload. Less RAM means less disk cache, so there's more risk of HDD overloading and causing the speed to go down.

Is this clear enough?

I wanna say it one more time. "This is extremely rare." But still RAM can affect download speed eventhough it's rare.
