I don't think anime could ever really replace American cartoons and their audiences anyhow as they're both structured too differently. Most anime tends to be more dramatic and generally speaking, hard to get into if you haven't watched the first few episodes. Whereas you can watch cartoons when you want and still get the same enjoyment. It's hardly fair to only use cartoons like Teen Titans and then compare that to all other anime. I could just simply select cartoons like The Simpsons and Clerks compare it to Sailor Moon or DBZ and say that all anime is crap. I think anime is enjoying it's rise right now as everyone jumps up to see what's new and foreign, and after everyone's gotten used to the 'enhanced' animation the amount of people liking it will decline as its seen as a usual thing. There are also cultural differences to consider that make anime less enjoyable.

I don't really care what you call it. It doesn't make a difference if you refer to anime as cartoons or cartoons as anime. It won't make either seem less or more mature. If your an American it makes more sense to see anime as cartoons and vice-versa.

Sasuke vs. Naruto

I prefer Sasuke to Naruto. I think Sasuke is more of a realistic character to him, he has his merits and his flaws like everyone else and it's not surprising that he went with Orochimaru. Also I like the fact that he's honest with himself and the audience in terms or his character, he is who he is whether selfish, scared whatever and I admire that quality in a person. Unfortunately I've never viewed him as a purposely lonely character who thinks he's too good for anyone, I can see he was like that at the beginning but his character developed from that.

Naruto on the other hand, I'm pretty neutral when reading the manga, but the anime with his bright colours and annoying voice actor makes me dislike him. He's also incredibly self-righteous, too self-righteousand and can't bend at all-if he doesn't like something he'll just view is as stupid instead of perhaps seeing merits or flaws to it. I also don't see why he continues to use a happy facade all the time if he's feeling miserable.

Perhaps something changes later in the manga and I haven't read it but the demon fox in him also makes me dislike him more because whenever there's trouble he's never able to use his own strength and in the end seems to win by using it's power and it seems like a cop out. Whereas when I compare this to Sasuke, he only has his own strength to rely on.
