Hmm i agree they hit us with eva then ****off for a while. And come back with Comedys, which doesnt realy suit them. i Mean anime like Eva just lends itself to their style thats why i was so annoyed about all the whako images over and over. Maybe hws21c is right and Anno left and the new guy (whoever he might be) favours comedy and romance.

I havnt seen all of Kare Kano but that episode made me sooooo angry and annoyed. I was a big fan up until then (i mean i still am but eeeeh its just so annoying). How long does Kare Kano go for because i ve seen up to 26 and i cant find past that in australia.

Yea i agree with you FoxyKitsuneko highschools a load of crap. Oh by the way when i say highschool im making reference to yrs 7 - 10, here (not australia but just the city i live in) we have 11 & 12 as a separate school we call college. The funny thing is with college people mature rediculously quick the mixing and changing of schools forces people to make new friends and breaks down the old cruel system and people become a lot less shallow. anyway back to anime and freedom of choice. This "Freedom" that you talk about is probable the one thing i apreciate about right wing governments. I prefer to call this freedom Relitiveism which is what it realy is. Anyway even though i am well out of highschool i still get some funny reactions from people when i tell them i like anime. Most people say "is that like Sailor moon and dragonball Z and pokemon and stuff? arent you to old for that" which is really more annoying than anything (no offence to Sailor moon, Dragonball Z and Pokemon Fans {i like those too, but i dont like their high commercialisation}) because of the high marketability of childrens anime these types of anime are more in the public eye so people who dont know anything about anime constantly associate the word "Anime" with them. this is just in my experiance i dont know if other people gut that reaction. Anyway Ive said all i want to say about people who take anime to the extreme.

Thanks ~FoxyKitsuneko you present a very good argument. just fyi im actually Australian not american, but the way australia is going we might just turn into america, Arg and thatd be horrible! anyway yes i realize the shallow society of my school was really the problem but i think itd be easier to change the general opinion of anime as opposed to the social structure of schools. However i am now out of highschool and things are different the maturity level of people is much higher so they either dont care and are indifferent that i like anime or they like it or they have some reason why they dislike anime, but never the less they dont really hold it against me as my fellow students did. The rights infringment was maybe going a bit far, but there is a shockwave effect to every opinion thats why many peoples opinions are opressed by governments. (he he obviously not any opinions about anime are opressed by the government thats silly). Also as i said i didnt hide it from my friends but when someone new asked me what i was into i didnt say anime, even though thats my most major hobby. I also know how shallow i sounded but back then it was everything.

And funnily enough ive never seen japanese cosplayers. Also ive allways thought anime people look more like europeans as well. hmm go figure.

And why does everyone hate Shinji, i mean i agree hes a whiny crybaby. but he has his charms. Hes quite similar to Kira Yamato (Yes Shinji is worse i know) and everyone seems to like Kira. Cagalli even says he cryes too much. Then again shinji is very mentaly unstable but that was kinda the result of Gainax running out of money so they made more "Lets look at the Train and water of everyones thoughts then loop some squigally lines for a whone episode so we only have to pay for vocals not animation" good thing it acrtually worked in this series. not like Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou the episodes with non moving animation and real photos with some RANDOM narrator GAH somebody invest in GAINAX PLEASE!

There are two in Gundam seed, Flay is the first although she gets heaps of attention she untimatley does jack squat. (allthough i do find her crazy phyco rants quite amusing "ooooooo crazy flay CRAZY FLAY!") but even worse than her is Cuzy (i dont even know how to spell his name) ooooooooooo i hate cuzy hes sooooooo crap. He doesnt do anything but stand there yet he is in so many scenes i was so happy when he left the ship, but i didnt like his remark about Mirielia. Gah i hate Cuzy.

Also Winry is not usless. They just didnt use her as much as they should have. Go Winry. FMA needs winry without her there would only be the tough military women or the kill everybody humunculus women. shes the only girly girl even if the is a mechanic, ok shes the only girl who wears a miniskirt.

Wow he he that post was really long. BTW. I do philosophy at uni and Anime has given me some of the greatest ball rollers ( i know i spell real bad but we do live in the age of spell check). so you could say i am also just like the anime nuts, im bringing some aspect of anime into real life.

Firstly, I Personaly dispise cosplay, not because of the concept, but because i have not yet seen a convincing costume that does not make the person look like a complete goofball (no offence to cosplayers) they never really look like the characters and i dont think they ever will. But living in the age of relitiveism they can do as they wish, i just wont partake in it or watch it for fear of my eyes being burned out of theyre sockets (Sorry im not trying to be offencive {even though that was quite offencive} i just need to stress my strong feelings towards cosplay. Also I believe that there is really nothing wrong with these people, they are not addicted, just Totaly fanatical about somthing, its human nature. All people get drawn into things.

(sorry ~eswhydeee but this is probably going to be quite offencive to you. I dont mean to be personaly its on a majority scale not you, but the point you have presented is what i am attacking) What I hate and what the cause of the Anime->Dork\weirdo association is the idea that what anime is in the extreme (cosplay, conventions, owning hundreds of anime dvds etc etc) is weird dorky or wrong. Because from that idea has spawned the ridicule anime fans receive from yes the Majority of people who are not anime fans. I dont mean to sound arrogant but through school I was not a nerd i was popular and cool and got lots of girls etc. but only my close friends knew i loved anime. Whenever i told someone they were allways surprised and said things like "oh i didnt think YOUd like that sort of stuff" and walk away with a lower opinion of me. Now i know such shallow judgments is just the way school is but the fact that Anime is on the bad end of the scale is because of people frown upon the anime extremists (as i will now call them). And id also like to note that the western world is right now in the grip of almost all right wing societys and governments so if i will quote the philosophy of right wing society "any person or persons may do whatever they want whenever they want as long as it does not infringe on anothers rights". The extremists in the anime subculture are infringing on the lives of the less "Devoted" fans but only through the ridicule of those people. So if anime is ever to reach the positive end of the social scale then do not frown upon anyone with an interest in anime however extreme.

Another thing id like to point out is --> how is cosplay (i know i hate it but that doesnt mean the idea is bad) any different from the girly teeny boopers who buy a mini skirt because they saw Mirisa from the OC wearing it, guess what its NOT! big surprise there. cospay is just like a child imitating theyre hero or the people who wear the clothes the fasion designers tell them are "Cool".

I Agree that he is a fantastic director, i have quite a big collection of Studio Ghibli work and allthough im a bit old for some of them i still love watching them. I dont know what it is. My Neighbor Totoro is the only movie i have seen where i laughed so much at an almost silent scene. (The bus stop scene he he he). unfortunatley i have had no luck in finding some of his less famous work, like On your mark. or any of the early crazy stuff he did for Tv (im not sure if it was him or just studio Ghibli but id still like to see it, i found a preview for some episodes on a chinese dvd but thats the only traces i could find) if anyone does know where to find this stuff itd be greatly apreciated.
