I agree, kinda why i liked Ghost in the Shell, it not only has great visual effects, some comidy, but the key point to me, is that it portrays something human about even the most inhuman of things, both the will to survive and the yurning to define ones self.

For my point of view, a great anime should have: - nice graphic design: because its what gives a first impression, and its the way of show the world of the series. - More than one plot, or one primary plot, with secondary plots give always a more relaxing and efficient way to tell the story. - Balance: like nolimitz says, have some action and some comedy and something well balanced. - Different personality characters: why? because all the people always want to see someone like they (in real life) to apear on the series, or someone that fits their personality

* in some cases have "evolution or chages" in the charaters, I mean the grow up or change with time or situations ** and if the anime require them, a nice mechanical, enviroment and costume designs.

Id change the end of Elfen leed, have it last about 10 seconds longer and show who is behind the paper door. also would like to see the Director guy from the orginization that makes Diclonious, to die. yeah. theres my 2 cents.

my Gf was one of those people, then she came over and watched Howel's moving castle with me. she hated it being in japanese, but thought that it was a cute story.... im slowly working on her watching another. *evil laugh*

after spending a weekend watching the entire series of blue seed and evangelion and naruto (that one hurt) i started identifying my friends as the charictures from the animes without realizing it. one of my friends said id watched too much of the naruto series when he tossed a pen at me and i caught it then threw it back while jumping. (i looked like an idiot but it was fun)
