The craftmanship alone in this wallpaper is worth a highlight. Shigemitsubaki has transformed two Code Geass illustrations by CLAMP to create a beautiful, new wallpaper. With a unique painting style and a muted blue atmosphere, this wallpaper is definitely worth a closer look!

What are scans?

The scans in APs gallery are high quality jpeg images that depict a character or characters from a named anime; or game characters done in a similar style. Scans uploaded to AP must be suitable for extraction and use in wallpapers.

Submission Guide

First, some words from Nat!

Generally speaking, the types of scans that you would find at Moeboard.net or the "cute" section of the Chan boards will not be accepted. AnimePaper has opted to focus on ANIME. Not miscellaneous CG art by random artists. Specific artists that have enough illustrations to garner a section will be included (i.e. the Renga Portfolio or Keiji Gotoh).

Scans should be large enough that a Waller can plausibly make a 1600 x 1200 wallpaper out of it. No images should be enlarged from a smaller state, and the mods will check for this before any scan is approved.

This means:

* The scan must be at least 1200 pixels in height.
* The character image within the scan should be at least a clear 1175 pixels in height.
* The character image within the scan should be at least a clear 800 pixels in width.
* The scan must be of a reasonable to good quality. Do some initial evaluation first before uploading.
* If your submission's resolution matches any of the known wallpaper resolutions (not restricted to the ones listed in the AP Guide), it is deemed a wallpaper and will be rejected from the scan queue immediately.

Sources

Ideally, you should only upload scans that you yourself have made.

However, if you do find a particularly interesting scan on the web you can upload it here. In this case, you should pay special attention to any terms of use the person hosting the image has specified. It's always best to ask for their permission if you are not clear on the terms of use.

You should not upload scans that can be found on the following sites:

> Anime Project Alliance
> The-OrO.com
> deathgod.org
> gumgum.org
> Kylara
> Scan City
> Castlevania.armster.org

If we receive multiple reports of you uploading scans from these sites, your ability to upload will be disabled.

Kylara has asked to stop sharing her scans at AP, this means that you can NOT take the scans she's uploading on MangaHelpers.

Recently, AP has spoken to Kei from Dokuganryu.com (formerly known as Beyourtruemind.net) and his scans are now allowed on AP, but you MUST GIVE PROPER CREDIT! Link back to his site in the description. If this isn't done, it'll be the same consequence as ripping.

If you own a site that provides scans for download (meaning scans made by you, not harvested from the internet, IRC, 4chan, etc) and want to have it added to this list, please contact one of the mods to get it added to the list.

If you download images via torrents, or search for them on the web, don't be surprised if they came from one of the above sites. People steal images from them all the time, please don't be one of them.

Submission and Approval

When you first join the site, you can only upload 1 scan at a time. This means that you must wait for a mod to check your 1 scan and either approve or reject it.

If it is rejected you can uploaded one more scan, and so on until you get a scan approved.

Once you have uploaded a scan and it gets approved you can then upload a total of 10 scans in any 24-hour period. This is in place to prevent flooding and the swamping of mods.

To submit a scan, press the submit button along the top and follow the instructions.

Please also check the Galleries first to make sure that a scan which you are going to upload is not already uploaded by someone else.

All scans submitted by members pass through an approval process. So what does this mean?

It means that a moderator will examine your scan to see if it meets the required standards. The standards are covered by the points listed in the submission guide above.

Until your submission is accepted, the wallpaper will not be visible on the front page. If the scan is rejected you will receive a PM detailing why. If the scan is rejected, please do not repost it unless directed to by the mod.

If the scan is accepted it will appear on the front page and people will be able to download it.

Please allow at least 24hrs following a submission. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that scans are approved in a reasonable time-frame, sometimes there are lulls in the availability of mods and peaks in the volume of submissions meaning it can take a little longer. We appreciate your patience.

Doujinshi and Fan art

AnimePaper.net is for official artwork only. By official artwork, we mean works published from the company or artist of the series. If the scan is from Chobits, and it is not drawn by CLAMP or from the studio that did the anime, then it is not official, and it is not allowed.

When submitting fan art it should go into the artist's category. NOT the series category. Indicate the series title in the description. If a mod sees a fan art in a series category they will delete it without questions.

Please do note we will NOT accept the piece of fan art you or your friend did, only fanart from well known artists like Keiji Gotoh, Ugetsu Hakua, etc. People's deviantart fanart are not allowed. We also won't accept random cg art.

Hentai and Ecchi

While it's been said in various areas of the site, we do not, under any circumstances, allow any material that is hentai in nature. Artistic Nudity is okay, and it's very obvious what is artistic nudity and what is hentai, so please don't try and put one by us. This means that any gallery requests for hentai games, anime, or manga will be declined, UNLESS the game/anime/manga has a non-hentai counterpart.

Examples are: Air, Kanon, Fate/stay Night, etc. (hentai games, non-hentai animes)

Ecchi is allowed, but anything that is too suggestive, will be rejected. Panty-shots, underwear, all that is fine, so long as it doesn't go too far to be borderline hentai.

So when you request a category, make sure to keep that in mind.

Requesting a Category

Obviously, new anime, manga and games come along all the time, and the category listing does not pretend do be complete.

As such, if you have a scan that does not fit into the listed categories, you should request it. This can be done on the upload page by clicking the request button.

Do not request for categories under the name of an artbook. Scans should go to their respective manga, anime or game categories. If the scans do not fall under these genre, then you should upload them to the respective artist's category.

Please note, the scan gallery is not for original art, photos, doodles or anything like that. These will be deleted on sight and your ability to upload may be disabled.

No hentai galleries. See above, in the Hentai and Ecchi section for details.

Browsing Guide

You can browse through scans from the front page, through the scan gallery listing, or via an individual's userpage.

On the front page you will see a list of the half dozen most recently uploaded scans. For more scans, listed in reverse chronological order, click the "see more scans" link.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a scan from a specific series, click the "gallery" button at the top, and then the "scans" option. Here, scans are listed alphabetically by category and you will find a quick link to each letter grouping. Alternatively, use Ctrl+F to find a specific series directly. When you click the link for a specific series, you will find thumbnails of all of the scans uploaded to that section listed in chronological order.

The last way to browse scans is to see all the scans an individual has uploaded. Go to their userpage and click the "View My Scans" link.

Thumbnails

When you see a thumbnail for a scan you like the look of in the gallery listing, click on it to take you to the download page.

The download page gives you the following information:

> A larger preview thumbnail
> The scan name
> When it was uploaded
> The name of the user that uploaded it
> The series category
> The image dimensions, or resolution
> The file size
> The number of times the file has been downloaded
> The Scan's paper cost (how many paper it will cost you to download the scan)

On the right of the scan, you will also see:

> Zoom in - this shows you a larger thumbnail and does not cost any paper
> Download (x papers) - allows you to download the scan
> Report Violation - for reporting any rule infringements.

You will also see a list of thumbnails of other scans by this user and other scans in the category at the bottom.

If you are the person that uploaded the scan you will also be able to access:

> Edit - allowing you to modify everything from the title to uploading a replacement file
> Delete - allows you to remove the file from AP

Downloading

Scans cost paper to download.

The reason for this is quite simple - it limits the amount of bandwidth that individual users can use and abuse. You can find out more about papers in general by going to the paper section of the guide. The paper system is also there to encourage you to participate in the community - you get paper for contributing, which allows you to take more out.

Please note that full viewing a scan is the same as downloading it, and therefore costs paper. Similarly, if you hit "refresh" or your browser "back" and "forward" buttons this will count as separate views. Please also be aware that if you have any form of "speed up" application or plug-in running, these generally utilise a multi-refresh approach that will therefore cost you multiple lots of paper.

The amount a scan costs is variable, depending on its relative popularity and your user status.

Commenting on Scans and Favourites

You cannot comment on scans.

For a scan, the submitter is not the original artist, so it doesn't need comments. (Vectors and re-cg's can be uploaded to artist's alley if comment/crit/feedback is required).

You cannot add scans to your favourites.

If you want to make a note of a particularly nice scan, or download it in multiple locations, simply copy and paste the url of the thumbnail page to your custom area, or send it to yourself via e-mail.

Rules

1. Size

The scan must be at least 1200 pixels high. (If it is 1600*1200 pixels then it is deemed a wallpaper, and NOT a scan. Do not upload walls to the scan section.) To sum it up, anything that is of wallpaper resolution (both standard and widescreen) should not be in the Scan Gallery.

The main character image must be at least 1175 pixels in height.
The main character image must be at least 800 pixels in width.

Do not resize scans to achieve these dimensions as their quality will be reduced. See the submission guide above for details.

2. Quality

High quality scans only please. This means that the scan should not have a lot of jpeg artifacting, nor should it be blurry or overly affected by the lines and patterning that result from scanning. See the submission guide above for details.

Black and white scans that are manga panels, rough character line arts or sketches do not meet the quality standards.

Do NOT submit screencaps/screenshots (enlarged or otherwise) as scans.

Only JPEG format is the allowable format for scans. PNGs are only for vector submissions as this format allows for transparency support.

3. Ease of use

Characters covered by excessive amounts of text or heavily obscured by other elements within the image should not be uploaded. See the submission guide above for details.

Ideally, scans should be usable in a wall with the bear minimum of fuss.

Two page scans (like magazine spreads) must be put together before they are submitted. You don't need to do anything fancy here - just put them side by side and upload as one image.

4. Sources

Anime, manga and anime style game related scans only, please.

Fan art must be high quality and uploaded to the artist's category not the series. Indicate the series in the description. Please note - fan art will only be accepted from famous artists, such as keiji gotoh, not "my mate Bob".

No Hentai or Pornography. (Final assessment of an image for this is at the Admin's discretion).

Reporting

If you see a scan that violates any of the above rules, please use the report function to inform the moderation team. Whilst every effort is made to ensure these do not get into the gallery, mistakes do happen as we are only human.

And please do not use the report function for anything other than reporting rule violations. Misuse of the reporting system will result in punishment at the mod's discretion.

To report a scan, make sure to include appropriate links. Saying "this is my scan" or "duplicate" is not much use to us, but saying "this is my scan and you can find it here..." or "this is a duplicate of this scan..." is something we can act on. When reporting duplicates be sure to link to the thumbnail page of the duplicate image, not the gallery page number.
