Third tryout and it keeps going

First, you need to fix on the bg, the tree and building look blur, the sky is empty, you can add some stars (you might use dodge and burn tool also to make it better).
Second, you need to clean the scan (dont use the erase tool, instead try using pen tool). The quality of the scan is poor, you can either find the better quality of the scan or vectoring it.
Okie that's all ^^
Good Luck :D

I think the best thing for this paper would be to vector the scan and maybe choose another BG. you BG looks kind of blurry and the sky looks pretty weird. Your scan is sort of blurry as well in the face area.
I think this would be a really good paper if you Vector your scan(and it's a pretty simple scan so vectoring wouldn't be too tough) because that char(vectored) in front of a BG with leaves in the fall would look really nice.
Good luck

Well, for me, the bg looks too real for your chara. It's too red. You have to do something about it. Using filter or other stuff. I just think that it doesn't blend well enough. Must say that I can't vector or using pen tool, so I know that cleaning with eraser is really painful and surely takes lots of time. But you sure have to fix the chara / scan.
I believe that this wall can be really nice, but you have to do much things about it first.
And the moon... Well, I prefer you lessen the tree, add a bigger moon, some petals,
and some stars for the sky... And your bg around bottom-left... You have to do something with it. It's a bit strange for me.
This is a great advice I get from my thread, give it a try if you want to.
Ummm... not a pro. Can't give much useful advice. Good luck for your wall.

zazou8888About the brushes looking too real you can probably use some smart blur tool to get ride of some details and then it will look a bit lore cartoonish and manga style but I guess you can find better ways...
Here's an other way to do it... But it's more hard and you need to know what you do with your software...

anyway about stock photos, I'm not really the right person to ask
i recently started taking pics and edit them for my wall
this was the first 1 i submitted here
for anime wallpapers, i don't like the stocks to look realistic so i usually duplicate the stock 3 times
on the middle layer i median about 7pxl and blend it with darken (play around with the opacity here coz at 100% it looks like crap lol)
anyway the 3rd layer you might want to overlay or soft light it
depends on the colours on the picture and contrast
i tend to play around with different blending options to see which suits best
then merge all layers, at this point you should get a cartoonish or anime kinda feel to the bg
i do this to get rid of the realism so i can use it with anime chars
this is simple and fast way to do this
you can however also take your time and paint over your stock
it takes longer but looks nice
i think there's a more detailed tutorial on this at biorust.com

Well... The thing with the starless sky is made like that on purpouse. I suppose I could add some clouds but I don't won't it to have stars unless that's completely necessary. I blurred the castle and the trees to make it seem like there was a distance between them and the char in this pic and I shaded them darker and lighter as the trees come closer. I'll try posting the same one with small differences, like another char and a different format for you to check out. At first there was a smaller char of the princess with her long hair and some red leaves floating around but I thought she was too small.
