AP always sends me a notification about a PM. What is going on is that when check it out, the message simply is not there.

Less likely they disappeared, and more likely your cache needs cleared so the notification resets. it takes time anyways. i've had mine notify me repeatedly for messages i'd already opened, and it went away when i cleared my cache.
other possibility is you've overlooked a message, so there's still one somewhere needing read.
well, the loss of them is also possible, but AP wouldn't notify you of something that it doesn't have. i don't think it would.
