ideas for making this fit dn?
Lol i don't know what's with me and connect my topic title and description to my wall. but down to business.
some of you might remember this from december, and i can't find that thread. it's probably long buried and locked by now and i comment in sz too regularly for me to want to look for it through my post history. why am i working on this again? because of some encouragement from august! :D i've decided i'll try to finalize this wall in time for the script refinery contest deadline...which is on the 28th. i've put off this long enough and i don't want to be too last minute. >_< whether i will actually submit this to AP in the end will depend on many factors, as my non-cute/happy/colorful walls never seem to receive much positive response.
anyhow, i think it is missing something but it could just be the fact that i am not used to being the least bit minimalist with my works. your thoughts?

for where i left off last time:
1. curved text
2. extending the one circle of light beyond the rim

considering the shadows in the bowl, it seems that the insides follow the shape of the outsides (you know... one of those 1-3mm thick porcelain/tin things). in which case the the design of the bowl i would think would be really bad as a candle holder o.O (curved slope away from the center and all). to adjust for that you may want to tinker with the shadows a bit so they are not so dark to give off more of a gentle *'U' shape instead of curved W
or... i could just be needlessly rambling :D
*the improve legibility can sometimes be a pain >_>

I only have one thing to pick on...
And it's the same as before : the bowl...

For the rest it's all the same : I really love the cool look of this wall and also the really nice feeling getting out of it... Not meaning it's a nice feeling but you got it so well! :)

@dragonoflore: wow...i check back and you somehow magically knew i posted this. o__O xD nice to see you again. anyway: i don't have the original psd with the candle separated from the rock ;_; (zazou should know the pain of this quite well) so if i rework the text, i have to rework the entire rock base of the wall. and i'm not sure how well a displacement map made with the rock will perform when i use it for a displace filter for rasterized text. x_x i'll work something out but the thought of redo the rock hurts my head. i have no idea how i actually made the rock from scratch ^^; just a lot of random experimentation.
and i don't want to extend the big ring of light, if that's what you meant. because if i do, too much of the wall will be lit up - i want to keep the dark ghostly mood. as well, it'll get cut off by the top edge of the wall and zazou complained about that previously ;]
and the bowl's not a "w" because there is actually a rock in front of it. don't ask me why because i have no idea what i was possibly thinking at the time i put it in. -___-
@zazou: don't confuse the arc of one of the circles of light with the bowl! look more close and you'll see that the actuall bowl part has a flat bottom and two sides that curve inward. i think only dragonoflore understood it. >_<

OHHHHHHH ITS A ROCK IN FRONT OF THE BOWL! haha~ this can be one of those cool ones where you only notice slight details if you look closely enough :p
i only mean to expand the one ring in the bowl by about 2 mm or so to bring it out of the rim :p but if it makes it too bright... meh ^^

Because right know, with the coincident of circumstances it look bit out of the way and it influences the whole image. You know what I mean right? Don't worry. i won't escape from submitting this, i don't think. since you guys all want it submitted and spirit's even promised me a +fav, and i like my candle, i'll submit it. i'm just not fully confident in my dark walls...only my bright walls do well. *rolls eyes* it sucks that ratings should matter to me >_< but even though i'm probably going to be too lazy to fix the rings of light arranged for the lense flare, friday isn't that far off! and besides, i'm waiting for a reply from another friend about this wall.

as well, i know somebody mentioned that i should give this wall color. what do you guys think about this: i add one color to this grayscale so that it comes out that everything has the same color but of different tones. so for example, what is dark gray would be dark green. what is light gray would be light green. something like that?
