THE END OF THE WORLD...
Omg, Im learning about the Mayans at school and remembered about their calendar...
my teach said that its only off by about 33 seconds...
they predicted that the end of the world is on December 21st 2012
so, is it really gonna happen? theyve been right about everything else...
PS: one question, if the world is really gonna end on 2012, why am I going to school?
The world isnt even gonna last long enough for me to get a real job or finish college...

Even though the Mayans were theoretically correct about a lot of things, this one won't be true.
UNLESS
Some idiot (Bush! *Ahem) or another country decides that the world is better off ending at 2012.

The Bush Administration won't even be in office by 2012, so many should feel comfortable if they're worried about that.
Remember, US Presidents (apart from the exceptions made in history which led to stricter rules today) can only stay in office for up to 2 terms (8 years), no more.
The Mayans knowledge of time was by far astounding. However I would doubt the world will end in 2012. The long calendar ends by that year so many assume it notes the end of the world or possibly they just ran out of room to keep counting.
Yet, analysists and historians have noted that major historical events that were rather drastic and even catalysmic were predicted by the Mayans and their calendar many years ahead of their time. So it is very possible -something- might happen on that day.
There's been quite a trend and significant interest in the "end of the world" on the General board. It's certainly interesting, but I've seen so many new threads spring up about the topic. Can't anyone try and talk about something that doesn't involve massive extinction or the end of something?

Lol, I'll believe it when it happens. Now days any psycho can say "The world is gonna end by xxxx-xx-xx at xx-xx:xx nn". I mean, come on, that some guys are lucky, maybe.
Even the famous Nostradamus got a few hits, and a load of misses.
Get high, maybe you'll see how and when the world's going to end xD.

One of his predictions was a global incident around that year, those studying it translate it to mean a nuclear war will begin, starting out of the middle east. A ruler who wears a blue turban and has a crescent moon as his symbol will launch an attack, leading to global famine, death, etc.
So, anyone like that comes into power there, we need to kill him right away! XD

I'm more worried with that meteor heading for us, than what the Mayans had to say about us all dying in 2012. But, that's just me >__>
I can't remember if the year was 2021 or 2024 or another date thats in the 20's when an asteroid of significant size is about to pass quite close to the earth, within the boundary between earth and our satellites- that I do remember.
Here's hoping I'm not correct on 2021 and the Mayans didn't misplace the 1 and 2 up

Predictions, predictions. I predit, and mark my words, that Bush will no long be President of the USA.
:O I hope I get it right. My other prediction is that no other Bush will get to power unless they bribe the world. With money or crude oil. (If you push a little, maybe refined oil).

Eh, I have mixed feelings about this. I don't really want to believe it and I don't halfway, but on the other hand I actually do after reading the details of it on the net. Bush no longer being president is right, though, since someone could only hold the president position for 8 years maximum...

If it's anything I learned from "Back to the Future" and "Doctor Who" is that the future is not written and there is no real way to predict accurate future outcomes. Also you go to school to perhaps learn a way to prevent eventual catastrophes rather than allow them to happen and possibly hurt people you care about. Admittedly I do believe that people should live life to the fullest as if it were the last days, rather than watch them go by.
By some freak accident, human or natural, the world may just end in 2012. But I don't particularly mind if the Earth goes poof by then.
Hmm... I feel no one can be totally accurate all the time. It's not really humanely possible, but then again, I stand corrected.
I'm positive that everyone knows the end of the world will cometh. Look around us, any sane person will tell you we're killing the planet. There isn't a real need to find out when. I mean, what's the point anyway? So that we can all fall into debauchery and be immoral humans towards end time? LOL.
Anyway, I hope I'm long dead and gone before any end time comes around. It definitely won't be pretty.

I hope it lasts for more than that, i really wanna grow up and have a big family before the world ends ^^
