---I know fansubbing is a widely known by anime fans and especially higher level Otaku's, but what do you think about it in general? Do you enjoy it watching new series that haven't debuted in a language you understand and are greatly appreciative of subbers efforts? Or do you feel like wounding the subbers with a spiked bat because they mispell a word or translate completely off?Just wondering what people think about it.---

Welp, I wouldn't know any in translations, so for me, fan-subbing is awesome. I think that when actually converting the anime into English, they totally (on almost all occasion) f-it up. IMHO, fan-subbing is awesome, because you keep the beauty of the original, whilst still being able to understand.Though on certain occasions (such as Yu-Gi-Oh!) am very glad that they translate, because of Crawford's (Pegasus) voice... ._.;;; (Besides, Darren Dunstan = My hero!)

Love fansubs. Hate dubs. Quality fansubs are better than official DVD subs, and definitely better than import DVDs. And they don't include the god-awful dubs (at least most of the time they're terrible), so that's a plus. American dubbing industries just don't understand.

---Have to agree about the dubbing quality. The transition from Japan to U.S. definately loses something as can be easily seen in series like Crest of the Stars (on G4Tv). However, series with bad dubbings are usually on cable and satellite stations and are (for the most part) free to view. Anime series that can be solely viewed on DVD or VHS tend to be better dubbed. There are exceptions as I have not seen the Anime Channel and have heard moderately good things about it.---

I love fansubs, especially quality fansubs. I rather watch it than watch the horrible dubbed anime because the voices just don't match the characters! I saw Full Metal Alchemist on Adult Swim and god, the voices were horrible. Most people who haven't watched quality fansubs probably preferred the dub version. But I'm pretty used to reading the words at the bottom of the screen and watch the pictures at the same time.Plus, it's nice to see the nice little Karaoke stuff in the OP and ED of the anime. Fansubbing has gotten better and better while dubbing just awfully stays where it is. You think that ADV and other companies would hire better voice actors and actress or at least have the sense to pick which voice fits with which character.

I usually enjoy watching the anime for what it is and ignore most errors... unless the quality of the translation is just horrible and is almost undecipherable.

I generally prefer fan-subs over dubs. I can't stand some dubbed versions, but some are actually pretty decent. I tend to try to avoid watching dubs on T.V. unless it's a show i really like. then i just watch for the fun of it. Probably the most recent series i've seen dubbed are Kiddy Grade, Gundam SEED, Inuyasha and Witch Hunter Robin.. Kiddy Grade sounds pretty bad. I love fansubs! Otherwise I would <b>never</b> be able to see the new AMG TV Series... Long live fansubs!

Well... i watch fansubs because:-They are updated. How long are fansubs released before dubbed ones are? - They are free. FREE!!!!- You get to sing along knowing what the words mean.- It's not chopped. Nothing is edited out. thats about all i can think of right now =/

I think dubbed anime is farr too overpriced, so unless I really REALLY like the series + the dub, then I'll buy.As for subbing in general, I like it cause we get the releases much earlier than dubs would be + japanese voices fit the characters better (IMO), unlike the thrown together voices in most dubs.

I love fansubs.i even love the lower quality fansubs, because hell...they're not getting paid for this. it's anime fans helping anime fans. and just that whole thing itself makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.i have nothing against american dubbing...although i prefer not to watch it and think that they do a god awful job on almost all occasions. there are a rare few, while not perfect, are well done (i.e. Trigun)do i prefer fansubs over american licensed subs? on some occasion, yes. the reason is that fansubbers ike to fully explain things that may be unusual in our customs, while american licensed subs will just cover it up by sticking something we'll understand in instead. or, they won't explain it and lose people completely.i do buy liscenced anime, but without fansubs, i wouldn't buy any...it's too expensive to jusy buy blindly like i used to. and if i bought blindly, it was extremly rare...i normally got recomendations from other people.it's nice to be able to keep up to date on whats going on in the anime in japan. plus, it helps wallers out by getting out the newest series walls accuratly and quickly. less random backgrounds, more backgrounds that go with the story.also, not all anime is brought over from japan, so we get to see the ones that havn't been ^-^

I always prefer fansubs - of course, provided that the fansubbers are doing a good job. Nevertheless, most fansubs do a really good job in timing, translation and effects. Official subs are crap filled crapness sometimes. Fansubs usually give me a good idea on whether I should invest on an anime set. I'm definitely gonna get me some GitS and Samurai 7 since they got licensed pretty early.
