Awesome scan but it looks like it could be extracted better and there's tons of jagged lines, kinda looks like it's from being resized. you did a good job cleaning it considering how bad the scan is but here's a pretty good extracting/cleaning tutorial (just in case):

overall you need more going on in the wall. i would put the scan smack in the middle of the wall and extend (draw) the wires, make them connect into walls/panels that are on each side of the wall. your bg has to be more than just a gradient. you need to tie in the movie more, picture her in this labratory and build it around her. that or make it grunge or abstract/tech, both you'll have to use textures and download some brushes.

right now as it is it won't be accepted, it needs more design elements/theme. good luck and i can't wait to see where you take this cuz it really is a great scan :) though i'm wondering if full nipple like that might be too much. i'm all for it but i know others might not be... ;)

This won't pass submission because of the nudity - just a warning. The borders are very distracting... from what I've learned, people use borders because they can't think of anything else. Be a little more creative in your efforts. I agree with what blu3angl and chibicrystal said, picture an environment Motoko would likely be in (like the experiment lab that this scene is from ;P) and work from there. Work on it until you're proud of your efforts.

I really dig this scan and personally don't have a problem with the nudity. Considering the view and that it reveals what's underneath her skin, I think it's pretty tasteful. I think you have a lot of options for what you can do with the area around the Major.

IMO, you might to try and match the dymanic of the scan. If you keep the background bland or low key, then you risk losing the punch that you'll need to get it accepted.

More in the background is the way to go, make it look more technical. Prehaps as stated above, trying making it so you can see what she's hooked up to (like simple wall units, be creative!) The gradient and the border are too simple, and the green is really random and doesnt fit with the main image at all. It looks like it should be more a more dark wallpaper, rather then a bright one.
