what do you think about seiyuus?
Usually, if a japanese anime is aired in other countries like malaysia, they'll usually dubbed them into their languages.. am i right? so, to the ones who have watched dubbed animes, especially for malaysians, i want to ask for your opinion about their qualities..can they surpass the japanese seiyuus?
Oh no no no...never!! The originals (Japs) seiryuu's is always the best...and no offense to anyone here, not even the english or the chinese seiryuus can compared to them. Really, the English sieryuu's tone are always so flat with no expression what so ever. Bahasa Malaysia's seiryuu is equally bad. Chinese...well, some are quite ok, I have seen GTO dubbed in chinese, not too bad, but somehow something is lacking there. Besides, most of the original meaning in the wordings, especially those quotations are lost when they dubbed it.

The thing with Japanese seiyuus is that their job is more of an art. they actually put the expressions into making the character vocal. When other countries dub the anime in their own language, it's more for the people in that country to actually understand it in their own language without having to read the subtitles.
I personally really dislike voice actors of other countries, just for butchering a character's personality just because of how they do the voices.
I've also listened to English and Chinese dubs and although some are acceptable, some just fail.

Dubs are plain ugly end of story lol seriously why can't they just let us read subtitles and save us the agony of listening to their hideous voice actings.

There are some good dubs out there... can't name any off the top of my head... but they do exist. However, a majority of them are really awful. Also Japan takes it a lot more serious than any other country does.

Jeez how many times does thread like this one have to come up? We all have already establish the point that Japanese voice actors will always be the best of all. So really I don't get why people keep bringing it back up.
Fandubs are usually better then the ones you find commercially.. (some of the quality suffers.. lack of profesional equipment)
But they always seem to feel better then what money hungry anime selling companies ditch out..
Actually it's more like "they care"..
The dumb actors from dubs usually would "care more" if they were in some childish Disney production or something..

Voice acting there is a real life job, over here in the states its a hobby -_-;

Japanese seiyuus are way better than local ones. most of the characters in a certain network sound the same.

In my opinion it depends on the shows. Like when watching slamdunk I find the dubbing here in the philippines more funny because I can understand their expressions. But majority I prefer the original voices compare to local.
The only languages I've heard anime in were Japanese and English. Personally I hate the English dubbing of anime, it just sounds so terrible to me. I think the english voices are poorly done and are a waste of time. I believe Japanese anime is meant to stay in Japanese for the best experience. That's just my opinion.

I think there's nothing better than the original, so I prefer the original Japanese voices.
The only English dub I've heard is the Dragon Ball dub and I think is very bad, since I'm in Panama anime is dubbed to Spanish (in Mexico, Miami, Chile sometimes..) and there are some very good (IMO) and some ok voices.
For example I like Dragon Ball's Spanish voice acting it's good IMO but I don't like One Piece voice acting (well, since the Spanish version is based on the American super censored version everything sucks but not even the Spanish voice acting is good :S)

I know that this may sound rude to the malaysian "seiyuus" but they're horrible. They don't know how to really do it. I mean, there's no emotion what so ever in their voices. It's just plain reading. Some of them even killed the characters with their extremely bad... seiyuu-ing.
Nothing can supass the japanese seiyuus. They go for training for that job and they're bloody hardworking. I no longer watch dubbed animes. I only go forthe original.

It all really depends on the skill of the actor. Some English ones can match a character really well, though a good deal of the japanese ones do great as well. People like Greg Ayers are a bad example for the English versions though, since he can't change his voice really at all. But then you take someone like Eric Stuart are good examples since either he changes his voice so completely that you can't tell how many characters they play in a series. (I.E. James, Squirtle, Brock, and others from Pokemon.) Its the same with the japanese though, it really just depends on the actor/actress.
