How is Japanese Anime better than America Cartoons?

When it comes to anime it seems to have deeper story lines than American cartoons. As for the animation some of the earlier Disney cartoons like Alice in Wonderland the animation was very very good compared to most anime out today. In america animation is generally aimed at kids and younger teens while in japan it has a variety of audiences. Mostly do to this older fans seem to prefer anime over American cartoons with few exceptions for me, of course Swat Cats, and that block of toons on tv around that time I still hold above most anime.

I think anime appeals more to adults. I mean I admit sometimes I watch Family Guy or The Simpsons, but (most anyway) anime deals with mature situations such as sex. Not that our adult cartoons don't, just that they make perveted jokes about it.
They both have good stories but Japanese anime's is better coz' of the drawings..they draw pretty well and i like it more...
I think there is a much deeper and richer story line and better characters in anime than in "normal cartoons." like look at naruto. thats been huge in the west as well as in asia. also Ghost in the Shell is gonna be made in to a proper movie. that in it self is a massive testament its success (even before this it was used as inspiration for the matrix, many scenes in that were based on those from GitS)
Depends on the cartoons, I am not biased I hate american cartoons to the core but for one The Simpsons I grew up with it and still love it(movie excluded, was awful). I generally hate american TV shows for that matter!
I only watch anime otherwise I read or do more constructive things like build a shelf or something even play games!
I cannot sit in front of the TV and watch TV like my family does, I just hate it!
You cannot compare the two they are different as the Japanese have better and more meaningful culture than the americans do so trying to compare them is like trying to compare a cow and a donkey they have nothing in common except maybe for walking on four legs. Thus the similarity comes in between the two that they are both animated and that is where it ends!

Japanese anime have much prettier characters and some actual plot. Most American cartoons that I know of are mostly satyrical and make fun of politics and people but the plot in one episode is not related to that of others. Plus, Japanese anime have voices that sound cute and high pitched, which I don't see that often in American cartoons.

There is many different genre when it comes to anime targeting all different age levels and they all tend to have a storyline that one can follow. While American cartoons on the other hand is usually just animated animals/creatures for little kids (Tom & Jerry, Mickey, Dafty, and etc...) doing funny acts or action cartoons (Kim Possible) for the older kids, and adult cartoons (Futurama, The Simpsons, and Family Guy) but they all tend to lack the storyline that Japanese animation gives
American Cartoons use to be good I Remeber the cartoons i grew up with they were awesome!! but when we hit 2000 all the American cartoons went gay... for goodness sake Spong Bob Square Pants is one of the top cartoons in the USA.... 
Anime though does give you more but i think most people forget that we(manga-anime lovers) can go online and go pike and choose what we want to watch well in the US we are bound by tv time...
Japanese anime is better 'cause it has:

2. better drawing
American cartoons isn't bad either, but a lot of them just too serious in storyline.

It depend on your favorite. I dont think one of them is better than others. Its totally different type. I agree than Avatar is also nice cartoon

Japanese anime tends to have a better plot, plus they have the coolest expressions like sweatdrops

I can't agree with the idea that Japanese anime > American Cartoons. I've grown up watching both and have enjoyed them equally. I do think that some Japanese anime attract the teenagers a lot more because of how different it is, but American cartoons might be more directed at the younger audiences (8-12 year olds?)

Ah.. nice opinion malice san. I just realized that Most american cartoon dedicated to young watcher. So audience from my age 18++ feel not satisfied with light story and want more difficult and deep story.
So I think its come back to our favorite type of story. maybe because I like light story I like to watch both Japanese or American equally

American cartoons are just bland and boring. Japanese animes are just better overall. They have better story, characters, and themes.
