Jigoku Shōjo,地獄少女
Drifting-AshoreHell boy was just like Ai except more egoistic. Seriously him as the antagonist? I would wonder how they would include the basic sending people to hell motif in that.
I am also at awe how the anime storyboard managed to cram everything (prologue, character background, Enma Ai and company scenes, Yuzuki at school scenes, Character development, Climax etc...) within 24 minutes.
Rey-AsukaYeah,it's still speculatio and were more than halfway through mitsuganae.
You're right these purely assumptions which may or may not be accurate. The good thing about it though is that everyone can get around and share their own opinion.
ambstrikeI thought he was sent to hell in the first season, how did he return? If sending him to hell doesn't work, is there any other way for Ai to defeat him?
I remember Hell Boy mentioning before that he'll once again escape from Hell. I have a theory that Hell Boy has grown powerful over the years. As to how Enma Ai will triumph over Hell Boy, we can only guess.

Hellboy did say that he was sent to hell before and will come back again although when first "killed" he was not sent to hell; he simply died think, this time, he was sent to hell body and soul by the Master of Hell throught the Jigoku Shoujo.

Yes, Enma Ai ferried Hell Boy to Hell body and soul. In fact, as she was rowing the boat, Hell Boy proclaimed that he'll come back just like he did before.
Most of the eps were too formulaic for my taste. I like the eps with Ai's back story though...

Yeah, they have the basic formula which worked then they used that reputation to try to introduce new themes. What I'm wondering is will it still be good; it might just start to become a drag.

also hajime's recollection was one of the most dramatic episodes of jigoku shojo.

According to the anime (last two episodes of season 2) Ai Enma was not robbed of her emotions; she chose to seal it away herself to avoid pain and the possible intrusion of her emotion during cases. During the last two episodes of season two, she broke the covenant she had made with herself to save that boy. My question is why? Why break the deal she was about to be liberated from? An injustice has been committed before quite similar to this one (season 1 the nurse) why choose to break it now?
The boy was considered cursed like she was so she felt sorry for him.
although I wasn't happy about what happned to the nurse.

Well, then why did she release her emotions on that certain boy? It's an unfortunate turn of events, unless it was manipulated somehow, I doubt the boy was "cursed".

I've been away from AP for quite sometime. I need catching up. Anyway, those thread that you usually hang out to like School Rumble, I'm yet to watch that series.

Yes, she did defy her "employer" (so-to-speak) in order to save the boy. Actually her job to ferry people to Hell is an act act of atonement for killing the people of her village. Her reward is the freedom of her mom and dad if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, here's, my take on your question. I think she deliberately tried to save the boy because it strongly reminded her of her own self in the past. At any rate, I'm glad she did because:
1. I felt sorry for the boy. I felt enraged by that girl's action putting all the blame on him. She appeared to be an ally at the beginning then she turned around and started accusing him for all her misfortunes, eventually sending him to Hell.
2. It led Enma Ai to choose a self-sacrificing act which somehow quelled the Lord of Hell himself resulting to the release of Enma Ai's parents.
PS
I can't seem to remember that nurse episode from the first season. Can somebody remind me?

The nurse episode was when a drug addict "sacrificed" an innocent nurse who suffered for others (so to speak, she allowed an old man to vent his frustration of losing his wife to her by tolerating his accusations). As for the girl, how can you blame her; she just lost her brother to the town (technically, the boy indirectly led to the "death" of the police officer/girl's brother). While this seems cruel to us, the viewer, the emotions of the girl lead to this. She was the ally of the boy, even risking her own life to save him. Also, I don't think the Master of Hell was that considerate, you think Enma herself released them?

I remember now, thanks. I don't like that episode much. To be honest.

That's what I hate about her. She has done so much to save and protect him. Her own brother was trying to do the same thing. In the end, she tried to undo everything they'd worked so hard for. And what would sending the boy to Hell do? It won't bring her brother back. She sorely reminds me of that annoying girl from Jurassic Park movie. That scene where a T-rex was sniffing her and her brother from a van. Like what will lighting a flashlight do? God! I hate kids like that.
Drifting-AshoreAlso, I don't think the Master of Hell was that considerate, you think Enma herself released them?
Enma meaning Enma Ai? I don't think so. Because if she can, she would've done so in the beginning.

Hrm, all good points, but, your right, the girl acted stupidly but, she's a child, she was also in shock from losing her brother so suddenly. "Youth is stupidity." I always say; she though it would all "go away" if she got rid of him.
As for Enma, she probably was too scared or too weak maybe, or maybe by committing the "crime" of not ferrying the boy to hell due to personal interest she was sent to hell and therefore fulfilled her quota (possibly).

You were talking about the detectives sister, hotaru.
actually I think they have a relationship.I remember this scene where they were hiding in a small shrine and hotaru was hugging takuma or the other way around.

Episode 20 of Mitsuganae is entitled Hell Doctor vs Hell Girl, and episode 20 of season one is entitled Hell Boy vs Hell Girl. Could this Doctor be Hell Boy back for a rematch? Tsugumi is a nurse now, what would be her role in this episode? I can't wait.
