Do you prefer anime with 13, 24, or over 40 eps?

'_' Personally, I prefer animes from 13 - 24 eps. I feel that the plotline can surface and then be completed in a way that fans will find satisfying.
Lo0000o00ong animes with over 80 eps put me to sleep :faint: ..but that's just my opinion!!

I guess it really depends on the quality of the anime. great anime such as one piece, i really wouldn't mind it running forever xD also, i think genre comes into play when thinking about it, because i like sports anime that are long~ like prince of tennis and whistle.
i guess shorter anime have better quality in terms of animetions in most cases, so i think the most suitable number of episodes would be 24-26.
like i said, it really depends on the plot in my opinion.

Between 24 to 26 would be a nice range but personally I prefer to download a mix of 13-ep and 26-ep animes. If all animes were to be only in the 24-26 episode format, I'd run out of hard drive space real quick since I always wait till the whole episode is complete before burning off to DVD.
Usually I avoid longer than 26 episode animes due to the risk of licensing. At most I'll follow only 1 title that 52 ep max (FMA).

I don't really have the attention span for anime over 26 episodes. Plus...once they go past that, it seems like they tend to go downhill after the 3rd season, even if there's plenty of manga to be transformed.
As much as I enjoyed Fushigi Yugi, I felt the whole friggin' thing could have been compressed to ONE season rather than allllll those episodes.

For me it depends on the story I don't really care how long it is if it has a good story, but with others like Lain I don't think I would able to keep up.
Sometimes too much can be a bad thing for example: Dragon Ball,Z & GT you know what I mean.

I'm going with 24 for thr 24-26 bracket. Really it's highly dependent on how the plot develops. Some shows could be condensed to 13 eps from 24-26 and others that are 13 could use a bunch more episodes to fill them out.
Rarely do I feel that I could keep interest for the 52 episode shows. Seemingly the exceptions are currently Fullmetal Alchemist... and the DVD release of You're Under Arrest (speaking of that, someone license Season 2 already!).
I really must admit that doing 13 initially might be wise and then follow up with a second season. I thought the 13 eps of Godannar were very nice, and they left me wanting more... thankfully there's a second season just for that (sub? license? anyone?)
Quick summary... of late, I think Kiddy Grade and Witch Hunter Robin probably could've been squeezed into 13 eps. I really felt Tsukihime could've been longer since it just kinda left me saying "huh?". And of course, Comic Party TV could've been much longer... oops, that's just me wanting more and more and more Comic Party. <!--emo&^_^--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='happy.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah, generally speaking when a series gets longer than 26 episodes, it just drags on more than anything else. Even now, when I had hope in FMA with it's extremely quick pace, I can't bring myself to watch the episodes every week like I used to, cause there's just no real suspense =3
On the other hand, I can't really think of a lot of really "great" 13 episode series. So, as far as my attention goes, I'd rather they just got to the point a lot faster and had a bunch of 13 episode quality series than all the 26 episodes with 8 fillers and stuff.
But heck, it's all about fitting a weekly TV schedule, so they're not even that free to choose '_'

Once several years ago I made a promise to myself never to buy a manga series with over 10 volumes. I've only broken it once with CCS because when I started to collect it, it only had 8. I'll break it again with Spiral, which when I started only had 7 and has now reached 10.
I have a similar attitude for long anime series. For me, I try not to start series longer than 26 because it just takes a lot of time to watch it all. Still, it has to grab my attention within the first 8 episodes or I'll stop watching, so I tend to favor 13-episode series where they get to the plot quickly and don't futz around forever (I almost stopped watching Wolf's Rain because of the recap episodes.) 26 episodes tends to offer more room for character and plot development though. I suppose in the end it all depends on how much I like a series, and how willing I am to sit through x number of episodes...

I love and hate 13 episodes animes. Why? Cause they're action packed most of the time and when they end, I ask "What? MORE!". Like Jubei-chan (which is theoretically 26 episodes chopped into 2) and Gunslinger Girl. 26 episodes can be quite draggy sometimes for me already. Like RahXephon, man, that was one draggy anime.

Personally, if the series can what it it wants done, with as little filler as possible, I don't care how long it goes on. However, the longer series seem to pick up a lot of filler shows, so I tend to check out shorter series first.
To me, the length of a series doesn't really matter; there are some 13 episode series I think are way too short (Kino no tabi) and some that outstay their welcome (Aquarian Age). I personally prefer 24-26 episodes, given that the producers don't ram in too much filler/recap episodes ala DNAngel, Spiral and Wolf's Rain. It's enough time for them to develop the story and characters properly; Cowboy Bebop, Azumanga, PlanetES are good examples of how to use 26 episodes resourcefully.
More than 26? I have a short attention span; which is why I'll never watch One Piece, HunterXHunter or Inuyasha-though I did keep up with Naruto for a while til like 40 episodes before I gave up. But I did finish Hikaru no go (took me like 6 months) and I'm watching Fullmetal Alchemist at the moment as well.
Episode count---who cares; it can be 13 episodes of pure crap or 52 episodes of pure class. If it's good, you can never get enough of it. If it sucks, you wish it'd hurry up and end.
Apologies for rambling. :faint:

I'm with atreusmonk. I see anime like Naruto that takes 5 minutes out of every 20 minute ep (leaving 15 minutes <!--emo&:o--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo-->! ) just to explain what happened in the last 15 min ep, in full detail :faint: ... [fanboy]FMA however, just passed it's second season and the plot only seems to be getting deeper. <!--emo&--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo--> [/fanboy]

I prefer 13 or 24 episodes , because if there are more episodes its usually start to be boring .

Most of the series I watch are of the 26 ep. variety. Cowboy Bebop, Blue Gender, Outlaw Star, Big O 1+2(which I thought was pretty short. They could've made a third season to wrap it up), Witch Hunter Robin etc.
I've never watched very many series that were over 26 eps. in length. They would include:
-Inuyasha(my fave)
-Yu Yu Hakusho
-Dragonball, DBZ, DBGT
-Gundham Wing(which I believe had 46 episodes).
The plot does seem to drag on in some of the longer series, most notably DBZ. Witch Hunter Robin could have been done on 13 eps. because the first ten eps. or so just deal with hunts. It's not until ep. 11 or so where the plot picks up.
I have no personal preference for series length. It's just pretty much what I like to watch.

I usually prefer series with around 26 episodes. The ones with 13 are either short, or too long (I seriously believe Onegai Twins could have half of its length), and those of around 50 tend to lose quality over time, be for the fact the the series should have been shorter, or that it had too much plot for too little time. I'd point as example of the latter Gundam Wing. I simply loved the beginning. But then, for some strange motive, everything began to occur too quickly. <i>Way</i> too quickly.
Those longer are prone to a myriad of problems, like slow-motioness (InuYasha) and worsening of quality - not only plotwise, but technically as well (Naruto - is it just me, or those new animations are so much crappier than they used to be?). By the end, they've usually lost the traits that turned it interesting by the beginning.
