Ok so another even shorter series. not really sure of the whole plot thing but it does do a good job of poking fun at most of the major nations in the UN with in the first 2 minutes.
i guess this could maybe be considered like, ...... well truthfully i really have nothing that i can readily think of to compare this too. but if you watch it (only takes about 5 minutes per ep) and don't like no t much lost and if you do like it and know somthing similar please let me know i'd really like to find more anime like this. Also if you have any brilliant insights into where this story may be going (if anywhere) share it with us or if you think its pretty random then well that's ok too.

Ok so after watching a bit more of the series i guess the plot (sort of) is to go over the events leading up to WW2 and i guess give some more back ground to european history , in a comical fashion . which could bring up another question. Do you think that teaching by use of anime, or other non traditional methods, is effective?
well if you want to answer that go ahead or if you just want to discuss your fav. character/country thats fine too.

Well, theaching by anime would be an interesting idea. But that anime ain't doing that. Rather, you should already have a rather good grasp on history to find this anime amusing.
You can't really watch Hetalia without knowing a few history basics, but knowing every single detail of the war isn't necessary.
I have learned a few random things from Hetalia, but I wouldn't say it's meant to teach.
I'm surprised there isn't a bigger Hetalia fanbase at Anime Paper. It seems so popular on other websites~

As short and silly as this anime is, it has managed to gather its fair share of flack from all shorts of political-correctness groups and has been pulled from at least one television station in Japan. Personally, I'm morbidly curious as to what they'll do for the holocaust or the rape of Nanking (to say nothing of how much political-correctness groups would just ****ing go bat**** crazy tearing out their hair and screaming to the streets).
On another note, the show is random as hell, funny, fast-paced, and perfect if for those with advanced ADHD.

Ditto.
I'm also surprised by how unpopular it seems to be here.
Also, foxnewsnetwork, The holocaust isn't really touched upon in Hetalia from what I've read, although there is one strip that could possibly be related but it isn't really said explicitly that's what it's representing. (Although it may have just been too subtle for me to notice, heh.)
As for the Rape of Nanking, well, there's one strip that possibly represents that as well. It basically involves the Japan character suddenly turning on China with a sword while China is sleeping, but isn't handled as a heavy subject as nothing in Hetalia really is.
The same kind of thing has been done before in other shows or movies, making light/comedy of historical events and wars, so I don't see why there's so much controversy over something like Hetalia that is so harmless.
It's really a shame to me that it was pulled from having its television broadcast because of it..
