Gundam Wing was my first as well and it made a huge impression on me.
The first Gundam that I watched was the Old School "Mobile Suit Gundam"from 1979. I got it from my local library and after that I decided to watch the whole thing in chronological order. I'm currently watching "Victory Gundam"... I didn't bother to see "G Gundam" though.

Oh well here goes, my first Gundam series that I watched is G Wing but I wouldn't watch it if only I haven't played the game in SNES. That game is the one that hook me up to the anime, cause the mechs are hella cool and well the game is great considering it's bandai which kinda have trouble producing great anime games lately :P.
It's not that I'm not old enough to watch the gundam before Wing but back in that days they only shows Doraemon, Akakage, Saint Seiya, and other miscellaneous animes on tv.

Gundam Wing was my first series, that was shown on YTV. Well, i ve saw some parts of G gundam when my brother watched, but everything really started off with Wing for me.
For me as it was for most, Gundam Wing basically started me off into the Gundam series. I remember watching the first episode on Toonami so many years back and I automatically got drawn into the series. I really haven't seen any other mecha anime, apart from Voltron, around that time so it really came down as very interesting and sort of a new concept to shows.
Then I say 8th MS Team on the midnight runs. Great series there. Saw only parts of some of the other series movies before hitting G Gundam, which took me a while to adjust to since it was different from the other Gundam series; overall Rain and Allenby won me over, and Gundam Seed, which basically speaks for itself.
Toonami should show it again...they should just play an entire "Old School" block of old school anime. I'd definately tune in for that.
In terms of Gundam Girls...I'd give props to both Rain and Allenby from G Gundam and Aina from 8th MS Team. Rain is...simply amazing and Allenby likes having fun, their personalities match their looks and Aina...wow. Lacus and Cagalli are already shoe ins, they're both great though I like Lacus slightly more because she's so kind and cute and can sing. Cagalli has that "I-can-kick-your-ass" attitude but is also caring on the inside and very noble. Good qualities in a woman.

In my case, my first Gundam series ever watched is New Mobile Report Gundam Wing. Back in ´95, I buy this series in Amazon and see it complete in a few days.
I buy it, cause I like Anime (by that time, I´ve allready see Evangelion) and I like the DVD Cover (which shows Wing Gundam and Heero), that´s alll I need to buy it.
When I started to see it, my mind suffer a blow out.
And that´s teh way I started to see Gundam.
After Wing, I see the original series, 0083, Zeta, Double Zeta, Seed, Destiny; 0080, 08MS Team (includding the OVA Miller´s Report), and allmost every Gundam saga aviable (only remains to see Turn A and Victory).

Lets see my first gundam was Gundam wing Zero, dont know if it goes under the name in other countries, but it tells the stories of duo, trowa, etc and has a total of 3 seasons i believe. only ones aired here were season 1 and 2 was a very cool show

The first Gundam I watched is Gundam Wing. It was aired here in the Phillipines in 1997 if im not mistaken. I really like the story so I researched about Gundam and found out that theres a lot of this Mobile Suits.
I really like this series except Gundam G which I think is.. well I dont like it at all.

Mobile Suit Gundam is the first I saw, and will always be the best.
Well, Zeta may be better. I wouldn't argue against that.
U.C. Gundams forever; Wing and SEED are nothing compared to them.

I couldn't agree more! But I must confess my first experience with Gundam was when Cartoon Network started airing Gundam Wing. I've never felt Wing was all that special but I'm glad I experienced it because it opened me up to all the other Gundam series out there, particularly U.C. Series.
