Is anime that much better than manga?

My friends say that anime is better cause they can see it in motion. But I told them that anime left out some important stuff that the manga has.

actually, that what i thought at first but then i found out that kind of reasoning is very shallow and senseless cause motion or sequencing of animation per frame isn't the best way to categorize a good manga or anime.. there's still a lot more to be observed.. and to date, im leaning more in manga than anime..
Even though I advocate more for the Mangas, one should note that not all Animes abbreviate the storyline (although this sometimes lead to excessive filler episodes)
Another thing that I've noticed is that animes employ a higher level of cencorship. Well, not all (Hellsing Ultimate for example) but a lot:
-In MAR anime there's just some funky flash of light whereas in the manga the hard hits are more realistically depicted (well, it's b/w anyways so you could always wonder wheter it's just sweat and not blood... heh)
Or Rapunzel (I won't say more not to spoil too much)
And in episode 47, Gido's lower body is hidden in the shadows whereas the manga lets the reader see what happened
-In Eyeshield21, Hirumas' weapons are often over-exaggerated or looking like some plastic toys and not the real deal they're in the manga (or him shopping in the US has been completely cut out of the anime)
-The very swastika like seal on Hyuga Neji's Forehead has been transformed in the anime in a simple x (I must admit i was a bit surprised that the japanese censored it down.
Just to name a few examples

Usually, anime is shown on TV (except for OVAs and movies) so every TV channel has it's censorship regarding matters like violence, sex, etc... so usually a lot of things are left out because of that.
I like manga better because there aren't so many filler episodes (Tsubasa, Naruto, Bleach...) and I like reading.

The manga are better than anime, also because the paints are beautiful!!
Manga is better because you can read it any time, its portable, quiet, perfect for school, more info longer story, and E-Z'er to learn Japanese
Manga is much better. I read it all the time and the art is always better in manga because in anime the art is different(ex. Full Moon). Plus the storyline is always changed up like in Full Moon when Mitsuki doesn't know when Eichi is dead and in the manga she does. Also, in Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne the plots are out of order and stretched out.
For me they complement each other! Anime is fun to watch, and you can clearly understand the actions of the characters and also their different reactions! In manga, the art is great and some events in manga are left out in the anime, so if you have the manga, you can more fullly understand the story!! Manga and Anime are very important and they are equal!
It really depends on the genre of the show and the director of the show. usually, shounen series with lots of action will of course be preferred on animated format over plain black and white pages when it comes to hardcore fighting actions and such. however, manga carries the humor much better, and somethings are just better written then said out loud.
about 60% of people i know enjoy manga better than anime.

It depends on the plot line.... for example, Mahou Sensei Negima. The anime was a disappointment since the artwork was done badly so for that case, manga is better.... Personally, I think they are both the same for me... anime can bring out funny scenes better than the manga. As for the manga, it doesn't have fillers.....that's one thing that satisfies me......
Manga is the best! On manga, we can see many things than anime.
Just look at Samurai Deeper Kyo, I think the anime is a little pitifull coz the story is so short and the storyline doesn't same as the manga. And in manga, the picture is so artistic and the paint job is amazing.
But sometimes anime is much better work, coz the storyline is same and the pict is same just like One Piece. But in One Piece, we can find Pandaman in Anime and it's the minus (^_^) I love the SBS forum in One Piece...
Maybe just that. The best from anime is just we can know how the chara voice (well, actuali it's seiyuu) and the great song! I like both, but I really love to read manga.

I think manga and anime are both good ^^
I'm a moody person, so there are times when I prefer manga, and sometimes I prefer anime...
There are animes that better than its manga,
but a lot of manga better than anime...
So, since making anime and manga are hardwork,
I really think they're both the best!! ^^

I think it really depends on the series. I love seeing the characters in color in anime though but I don't like it when they censor things. Most of the manga seem to have more freedom when it comes to content.
Hmm, I still prefer manga overall for the storyline, pacing, impact of certain scenes and the wonderful, beautiful illustrations (of course!).
Anime simply brings in some effects which may be missing from the manga, but to me, it only works as a support. I really adore anime, but I always look back to the manga for 'authoritative' facts and storyline.
In any case, just don't take off any one of them!

I like the manga more since it is more detailed than the anime, as you have said, animes mostly leaves out some stuff/storyline that the manga has, and some of it are qute funny too, but they had to miss it out! But the anime is good in it's ways, the characters moves!! it is coloured... and i love some of the voice actor's lovely voices. XD
