Zenpakutu... the katana a soul reaper wields, each captain and lieutenant of the 13 divisions (squads) have their own Zenpakutu. For example Kuichiki, the captain of the 6th Division, his zenpakutu is Senbonzakura (or one thousand cherry blossoms) is its name. His katana can turn into millions of pink tiny shards that resemble cherry blossom leaves but in reality they are all razor sharp blades that can cut through almost anything.
But Zenpakutu's are not only limited to captains but rather limited to how strong the wielder is, like Ichigo and his zenpakutu: Zangetsu (Moon Cutter)

Her zanpakuto is Sode no Shirayuki(sleeve of white snow /Snow White's Sleeve)
-Sode no Shirayuki is regarded as one of the most beautiful zanpakutō within Soul Society and is completely white, including the hilt, crossguard, and blade. The tsuba turns to a circle instead of a square. It is an ice element zanpakutō. The command phrase for its initial release is Mae (舞え, lit. dance!); the blade turns white and a white ribbon forms from the pommel.

Yes it does! but its probably true we're probably not see it pop up in the regular series in a while. God i wish there was a picture of it :P Come to think of it there is quite a few ice element zanpakutu's out there huh at least 4 right?

Lol. Yes, it's true that there are quite a number of ice-type zanpakutous... Hitsugaya's, Rukia's... okay, actually I can only think of two. Are there really four? ;p

Isn't Rukia's initial release shown in the most recent opening of the anime? Or at least its appearance is(it seems to turn the sword into a sort of ribbon). At any rate, I thought her zanpakutoh(or however it's spelled) was going to be making its anime debut fairly soon in an upcoming Bleach OVA.
By the way, I heard that Rukia is apparently capable enough to be given a proper rank within the 13th division, but that her brother blocked her promotion to try and keep her out of dangerous missions. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this, or what seat she should be?

It's true. She could have a proper seat, but Byakuya opposed her promotion to protect her, to keep her out of any dangers. That's how I know from the manga.
And about her Zanpakutou, it doesn't turn into a ribbon ;) the ribbon it's just somehow attached to the hilt of the sword. That's how her Zampakutou looks in it's released state. :) But the ribbon is there with a purpose: when she releases the Zampakutou everything inside the circle formed by that ribbon and from the ground up freezes.

I think it's shown in Bleach Memories of Nobody, the most recent movie(it was out in Japan on December 14th or something like that...I'm not sure...and I can't wait to see it, can't wait to be subbed! XD ).
In the most recent episodes' opening/ending there are some scenes from the movie and Rukia's released Zampakutou is shown too...so I guess we'll have to wait to see the movie to see her initial release in the anime. ^_^

I've seen it in the manga. It's white and very in contrast with Ichigo's black sword. She doesn't have a bankai though. It's really powerful and cool.

Yeah, I know, I've read the manga too, all of it, but I was just wondering, IF she had a bankai how would it look?
Maybe untill the end of the manga she'll achieve bankai too, it would be nice since her Zanpakutou is so powerful and cool.
