As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Ok you guys must have heard about the muhammad thing Here are the pictures that made them so angry

http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload0/Muhammed_Annette_Carlsen_Jyllands-Posten_Cartoons.jpg
http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload0/Muhammed_Arne_Soerensen_Jyllands-Posten_Cartoons.jpg

http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload9/Muhammed_Peder_Bundgaard_Jyllands-Posten_Cartoons.jpg
http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload9/Muhammed_Poul_Erik_Poulsen_Jyllands-Posten_Cartoons.jpg

Or these are the same but if the links are down try one of these
Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5 Picture 6 Picture 7 Picture 8 Picture 9 Picture 10 Picture 11
Or just use this link All in one

Now in my opinion it has gone real bad, these people only think with weapons. Not everyone then but quite many.

I still don't understand why they hate most of those pictures, few of them can I understand but not the rest.

It's a can of worms. Islamistic fanatics were fated to explode at some point and it happened to be Dennmark who corked the can. IMO, all this is just about religion gaining too much foothold among certain ethnics.

The Prophet Muhammad is held in high respect by all Muslims (people who practice Islam), especially Prophet Muhammad. Has anyone actually seen any drawings of prophets or God in Islam? Nope. It's because Islam forbids all depiction of Prophet Muhammad and God in pictures.

The fact that a newspaper company actually published this considering the nature of the pictures proves their total ignorance towards the Islamic faith.

It doesn’t matter if it was done just for joke (or using the excuse that some can't take a joke). The point is that a religion as a whole was insulted.

The point is that a religion as a whole was insulted.

"We are ready to sacrifice our children for you, O prophet Muhammad."

"Slay / Behead those who offend islam!"

You know, maybe it deserves some insulting. Maybe the whole religion simply deserves to be wiped out.

I can understand that people who practice islam feel that their religion as been insulted, that's completely normal; but why do they try to scared the countries which published the drawings, with their weapons? Why all this violence around this? What do the extremists mean with their ultimatum?

In my opinion, this is just a reflection of our world as it has been until today. 50 percent of wars crisis and tensions that existed and keep existing are due to religion stuffs. Religions conflicts and intolerance are going to take this world down I'm telling you...

I think it's right to be angry about it,
But expressing it with violence is something else..
It almost looks like people in the Middle East are seen as "barbarian" by western people.
-no respect
-only violence
-power
I don't know if that's really the case, but if it is, i always believe not everyone there is thinking like that, in fact, i believe it's just a small group that ( want to) handle(s) that way..

It's gone too far, i agree, but this pictures shows how (some) western people think,
like they're a bunch of rats, let's make fun of 'em. and that also makes me angry,
They just believe in an other sort of god, muhammed,...
well let them, why should we laugh about it right?

I don't think this has anything to do with Islamic extremists or whatever... seems like a common misconception that Islam = extremist. This is about the ordinary people who are *very* offended that their religion has been seriously insulted.

The publication of these strips really reflects poorly on the newspaper as well as the people who created it; it's definitely no joking matter, and this is no longer an issue of ignorance toward Islam or insensitivity - this amounts to flagarant disregard and disrespect.

This hoo-ha comes at a very bad time - as the vast majority of moderate, peace-loving Muslims in the world are trying to show the world what Islam really is, trying to foster understanding of their religion in the hope of rectifying the many misconceptions that people have, trying to live peacefully with everyone... some bloody idiots (yes, that's what I think of them, and I'm not even Muslim) have to come along and push all the wrong buttons, make them all very angry.

Like Dias said, "Can't they take a joke" is a lousy excuse given by those who do not understand well enough the implications of these cartoons. We're talking about a veritable sacred cow here; the cartoons have already crossed the O/B markers and you can't really blame all the Muslim people all over the world for getting mad.

It's very unfortunate and sad that something like this had to happen.

if someone sez "can't they take a joke"
maybe on your side that's was a joke but on other side that's was a seriously a big mess

It's a tough call. on the one hand you have freedom of speech/press and on the other we should respect ppls beliefs.

it's kinda hard to feel sorry for them though. we make cartoons of everything (there were a couple of the US president that i thought for sure were gonna be recalled). it's up to the individual to read it or not. if you don't like, then don't read it.

every religion/race has it's stereotypes, muslims are no different. normally i would agree with hamstersanonymous but when it comes to the muslim people i just have to disagree.

personally i think they just need to get over themselves and catch up with the rest of the world. (sorry if i offend anyone but that's the way i feel)

That is exact!!
Any kind of Representation of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is completely forbidden in Islam.
Actually, you will never find Muslims making fun of any of the prophets (I mean real Muslims, not fanatics...). So the idea of depicting the Prophet is inacceptable and the fact that it was made just for fun (following some poeple' sayings... not sure actually...) seems to be even worse!
I think that each religion should be respected... you would not accept that someone make fun of one of the most important features of what you believe in...

personally i think they just need to get over themselves and catch up with the rest of the world. (sorry if i offend anyone but that's the way i feel)

I have to disagree with this idea. It seems that people have wrong ideas and some not-founded assumptions about Islam. It is true that late international events gave a pretty bad idea about this religion, but it does not mean that all Muslims are bad... One should not generalize... It is like if I said that some people should not get to heaven since they took the decision to separate religion from state and that it means that they simply rejected religion from their lives... while it is not correct (in my opinion at least...).

I think that the problem is not Islam as a style of life (because it is a style of life), the problem is rather the way it is applied today... One should take into consideration that Islamic areas were some of the most developped culturally, economically, and politically in early history... I wonder if you knew that most of the sciences were really developped during the Islamic era and that Europe was then completely sinking into ignorance... That is to say that being a Muslim does not mean being underdevelopped or illetrate or any of these cliché that some people use.

Sorry for talking that much... but I really feel concerned about this issue. I hope that what I said (actually, what I wrote) has not offended someone. That was my personal feeling and view about this issue.

How different are you from religious fanatics, I wonder?

Ah, but the question isn't about me, but a group of people willing to suicide-bomb and "behead those who offend islam." And for what? Some guy who died thousands of years ago, now displayed in a humorously stinging caricatyre? Perhaps they are so outraged because it hit a soft spot, hmm?

I fail to see how these are so offensive when

a) they're comics--ie a FREAKING JOKE
b) other religions are made fun of in the same way

why is it that muslims go into uproar about this, when if you replace buddha, jesus, or some other religious figure in these comics, you wont hear so much as a peep
