This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

User posted image Hi, I'm planning on uploading this here... to be honest I simply want to download one of the scans and since there's a rule for equivalent exchange, well that sounds sort of fair, just didn't think it would be so much work going about it. And yes I'm slightly stingey when it comes to uploading wallpapers for everyone.
As I read through the faq and all, it seems I need to first see what the comments of others are on this wallpaper of mine before it is acceptable for upload.

The Wallpaper features a Vectored image of Sugoroku Mutou and features his eyes. I got this idea from one of my other wallpapers which I used screenshots, from Kaiba the Revenge and Joey the Passion. Hey, even Yugi's Grandpa needs something like so.

So... comment away... 'cause the sooner this is done then the sooner I can get back to work. Yes, I welcome negative comments, they help improve my work.

:::Edit 3:::
Please Note, treat these "Four" as the same image, the only difference is two fade more and two don't have the names. Think of them as a set, which they are now, just like I did with the Joey and Kaiba ones.

Is that the real size of your wall? The minimum image dimensions allowed in animepaper is 1024x768px. Maybe photobucket resized it, I don't know . . .

I can't see your wallpaper... link goes to photobucket homepage... I think.
We can't critique the little thumbnail >_<
And... where are your other wallpapers? I went to check your userpage and didn't find any...I'd like to see them.

User posted image Sorry that's my mistake, the link was badly placed in. No that's a thumbnail image, as I recall there was something stating that I cannot put the full image on the post.

Edit: Also by other wallpapers I meant wallpapers that I have not added here but used elsewhere.

Well, it's still too small. AP minimun size is 1024x768, as nizsu stated above. You said you read the faq, so I think this could be another mistake, so I'll go and comment the wall.
Now, it would be interesting to see the whole, vector... some lines could have been done with shapes, for example those floating lines on the hair and his ear.
I feel like the text is just filling space and personally I don't like text in walls, meaning it needs to be really good for me to like it. You could at least have tried different effects instead of just blending.
Also, the stony background is bad quality. Either re-cg it, or change it.

User posted image I had forgotten how angry I get when someone critiques me, it just happens. Lucky for me I read that after I just came home from work. A bit of dinner and TV is a good way to get calm.
Yes the file shown is the wrong size, I guess photobucket resizes it. But I assure you, it's made at 1024x768.

OK so I fixed up some things and left some bits as they are.
Check first post for the update.
Firstly, because I was at work all day I could not look up the Joey and Kaiba ones I did years ago, now that I'm at home, I looked them up and found that Grandpa's eyes were TOO low, and it did show less than the other ones did.
So I fixed that up, compare the thumbs and you'll see.
Second you were right, I did use the text just to fill it up. So I removed that.
Next, that low quality background, I had forgotten about that layer being hidden. Plus it was bad, I resized a 200 pixel wide image over 1000...

I of course left the effect, nothing wrong with it, it's based on what I did years ago and it was screens from a game which did the same thing. Hence why I didn't show the whole vector image of him... though I will make another wallpaper later on which does show the entire face.
But turning the lines into shapes, got no time... I drew this on Sunday for something else, and the image of Grandpa is meant to fit into a 150 pixel high image. See for yourself... User posted image
So taking that and then making it 6 times it's size will show the wrinkles and scars. I'm not about to spend another day fixing this image up. Grandpa at 1024 in detail isn't on my to do list yet since I am already swamped. Maybe another time I'll worry about the lines.

OK I'm ready for more comments... (No no, I said I get angry after a critique, but I'm alright after a while. I don't get angry because the person critiques... it's a college thing...)

Ok. Since photobucket keeps resizing, try imageshack.
By the way, if you just want paper to download one scan, there's more ways to get enough paper, if you're going to struggle and go through a bad time to make wallpaper, it's not worth it, you're suppoused to have fun. Uploading a wallpaper gives you enough paper to download about 4 scans.

Now, suggestions for the actual wallpaper:
1. I insist on the polishing of some outlines, try using shapes instead of strokes for some of the lines floating in the hair and the ear, I think it'll look much better. It's not hard to fix even if you already merged the layers. Maybe the ear will be a bit hard, but not much. I didn't mean all the outlines. >_>
2. Try to put something in the white part, I saw your other thumbnails and you could add stuff like that; colors, lightning, clouds, etc (at least that's what I think they were, they were so small after all)
3. Website at the top is a bit weird, you could move it to the lower left corner (where your name is) and make the signature smaller. And change the color, since green clashes a bit too much.
4. The text... the effect in the text... I don't like it. I'm guessing it's the name of the guy written in three different ways, right? Just one would be enough, with some cool text effect. Check www.good-tutorials.com to find something you like.
Hope I'm helping, good luck... and don't be angry, be happy, we're trying to save you from the rejection and the paper fine, since the mods can be very picky. ^^U

ps. I just wanted to see the whole vector out of curiousity... there's nothing wrong with hiding it with the effects if they are well done. =)

User posted image Alright, updated once more, and this time the last time... when I put together the wallpaper yesturday, I was at work. And I hate fixing images up at night, although it goes to show that I really focus less on these things when working than when I have some real free time.
But I'll admit, I actually did have fun doing this.

Ok, First, the white back ground is fixed. I actually pulled out the old files to take a look at the other two I had, now I wish Konami had made 'Grandpa' in a game like so, would have made things easier. But yeah, I think this added background works, never really tried drawing like that, though I had to use PaintShop to give it that texture effect.
Then taking a look at those old files helped me in finding out what size the text were, now sig and web is the same layer copied over. My logo still has to stay in the corner, due to some issues. And I think this text effect is better than what I used earlier.
But I want to keep the varied names, then again to make it look like the ones I did I'd have to have them without the names. Hey, if you can't pick one, chose both, nothing wrong with a few variations.
Thanks for the links to the tutorials, unfortunatly I don't think they have text effect tutes for non-animated Flash work. Then again, I prefer to stick to my own effects, that way what I've done looks like what I've done. And yes, I'm not a PhotoShop user, and proud of it.
However, those tutes will come in handy for classes, students could do with PS tutes like these for their work and practice. Guess you helped me indirectly.

Finally I'm still not going to edit the vector of Grandpa as I really need some sit down and work time for that, hopefully at which time I will also work on his skin and other textures for his face. I made one of Kaiba, and his hair alone was two weeks of my free time. And I don't draw these fast, I take my time since I treat it like a painting. So so fixing those few lines into shapes on Grandpa will have to wait. But like you said, you want to see the full image of Grandpa, so when I fix it up then I'll make a different wallpaper that depicts him as a whole. Just got to add that to my to do list.

On a different note, earning papers, those other methods are not for me... Commenting, I'm like a Simon on American Idol, I never say anything good in a serious comment. And posting posts just for points, it's to me spamming, I just wouldn't enjoy posting then because I wouldn't be really posting. Uploading scans, I assumed someone would have uploaded all of them by now so I got nothing. But I looked today and found that I may have a lot that are not uploaded, so now I just got to find an hour to do the scanning.
Oh and I seemed to have earned enough paper to download that scan.
The only reason I want more paper points now is... I may want to download more scans later in the future. Hey if I want something then I got to give, that's a good deal, makes the download even valuable for the time spent.

OK comment time... Now I remember what critiques were like at college. If only many others were giving a critiqu also, I'd have probably improved even more.
Good Night All...

I think it looks boring when you just vector a big face and put it in the center. Usually, with this kind of wall, people will add more detail in the face, especially the eyes ( you haven't added any effect in Granpa's eyes ;_; ).
You may need to try some vector polishing techniques.. Try to use line weight variation, too. Again, it's my personal opinion, it's ok if you want to keep your own style.

One more thing, this session is created for those who need help. Everyone is here not to listen to what you have done before or after your work. If you want to write about your life, put it in your journal or diary or something similar. It's your choice to follow or not to follow the other's instruction. But if you don't want to take a serious look at your work (your wall I mean), you don't want to fix it, update it, you should not have created this thread in the first place.
I am sorry for my hard words and my English too, good luck :D
