Anime/Manga Club?!
Has anybody ever heard of or is in an anime club at school? I was kinda considering starting one at school, but I can't seem to be able to brainstorm any ideas. It's either that or a jogging club, or both. (The new sd43 program requires 80 hrs of moderate-intensive physical activities for you to graduate :bs:) I've thought of organising a trip to an anime convention at the end of the school year, but I dont know where the conventions are in Vancouver. Also, I can't imagine a dozen people watching anime on the same TV - I've always watched it by myself. Maybe I should assign "homework" so we can discuss during a meeting. Or maybe we can do some visual stuff like making our own manga.
If you have any ideas can you plz help me?

Yep our school has an anime/otakon club. It's at East Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, NC, so if you ever move somewhere come here! (even though its boring as hell)

Hmmm...I never heard of it...sounds strange to me though cause I thought it was normally meant to be something like swimming club, football club, blah blah blah club but not anime club. Perhaps there might be but I'm not so sure of myself since there's no much of the evidence...lol

Well I go to an anime club. We watch a few titles at once, people suggest what they want and then the president decides ultimatly what were watching. I always thought if you wanted people could bring in there manga and exstange it with others but the manga wouldn't be able to leave the room and they'd have to be really careful with it..not allowed to eat near it. All I fear for that is someone ruining mine or stealing it or keep forgetting to give it back to me, you know? You could also start a manga! But i'd have to be monthly so people could get little bits of there story done or enough time to submit a short story. You could photocopy and distribute or if money is tight you could just post it on a bulleton board where everyone will see if you could work that out with the principal or someone. It could be a really great idea. All you have to do is mash out the details.
My School, John Marshall, used to have an anime club. It sarted out fine, but then people began to arguee about anime. So the whole club was torn down. i was really depresed about it since it was the only anime club I could find. So I feel so dillusioned about anime clubs.

Anime..?? Manga...?? Combo! yup, I have haerd it before eventhough I have never tried it out myself. Probably I will try it some other times but sad, I had graduated from that school now so I guess there is no more chance for me to join in again...sooobbbbb...-_-
My school.. me and bunch of frineds got together and formed an anime club. We wrote up constitutin and everything to get approved. As the year went by, it just kinda fell apart. :/ We didn't have a large anime fanbase at school so ya :/ Sucks.
Err theres no club here nor close of here would be nice to have clubs like that

My old high school had 2 or 3 anime clubs. One was strictly anime - you go in, sit, and watch whatever they have for that meeting. Another was split into a Dragonball-only "sub"-club and general anime. Don't ask why; I think they just got too many fans of DB and so had to break them up. There was probably another one that died after half a year.
Me and my friends started a Japanese Culture club during our junior year. We watched anime, for the most part. But we also did some culture-related meetings in which the members would present something - like music or customs - about Japan. We also tried organizing a trip to the sakura festival but the day it landed on rained. So no one really showed up.
And as far as I'm concerned, my college doesn't have an anime club. Pity, really. >.>

At my school, there are a couple of clubs dealing with anime, manga, jpop/jrock, drawing anime/manga, and japanese culture. I go to a pretty big school, featuring one of the widest selections of clubs in the city. I've thought about joining a couple of clubs, but I'm just too busy with school, the upcoming wrestling season & everything else. :(

My school has an anime/manga club. i'm not in it but they meet up once a week or so and watch anime dvds that people bring in and exchange mangas. i know cuz they used my old french room for it and my sister's friend's in it. ^^ they haven't gone to any conventions yet but every person who likes anime wants to go to one right? so planning for a trip to a convention would be cool. just look it up on the net. conventions happen everywhere. if you want to create your own manga or something like that then you should talk with everyone once the club is formed to see if they like that idea. also even though you might watch anime alone some people actually like watching in a group so maybe you can alternate what you do each time you meet. like watch anime one day, have discussions another time, exchange manga, etc.
