Holy jesus! That was great and hilarious! They ACTUALLY fought on the subject. In the end, Jack Thompson got burned. Damn, that guy is surely an idiot sometimes. Well, it was an awesome Loop though. :P
People are idiots. Games have ratings for a reason. If you're dumb enough to let your ten year old have M rated games, that's your problem. I remember in a Computer Ethics class, there was a debate over the fact that two thirteen year olds were shooting at cars from an overpass and that they got the idea from GTA: Vice City. Was the game to blame? My bigger question is how did the kids get the guns in the first place? Thompson can talk about how kids "trained" to shoot people by playing Doom, but if America wasn't the land where guns are readily available to just about anybody than it wouldn't have mattered.
I've been playing rated M games since I was 8 with 2 of my friends and brothers. You don't see me or them with AK-47s and a Swatiska armband marching down the streets or school shooting down people. Guns don't kill people... retarded thirteen year olds do. I did 2 research papers on this subject in my sophmore and junior year in college.
There has been alot of debate over the years if video games actually influence kids to kill. And over these years, no one has been able to prove this to the courts. There has been countless studies on video game violence and they have proven to show no significant results. Even I can't find any significant results and experiment where video games actually influence real life violence.

Actually, now that I think about it, there have been parodies done on this subject before too. In the movie "Scream 2" the killer, once revealed, explains that he plans to blame his entire killing spree on violence in the movies and even goes into detail on how the defense will work. Until his partner in crime shoots him, that is.
Lol, nice game I'll maybe buy it ^^
(where I live, bullying doesn't exist)

I already have it on pre order cant wait to club something
OMG. That was so funny. I've can't believe they argued for that long bringing all that extra crap into the mix. Anyways, it's not the games fault, it's the people who play them. If they don't like it they shouldn't play it. Besides, it's just a game.
Ratings have been ineffective i guess. started out since Mortal Kombat introduce so much gore in video games and now, still being depicted as much as to entertain players like in Devil May Cry series. even nudity has been part of gaming world and it seems the more systems evolved, the more real violence are portrayed
Parents just look for things to blame besides themselves. No one is willing to admit they wronged in raising a child.
Great video , cant wait to play the game
Lol nice vid there ^^
OMG hate these idiots who blame their kids wrngdoing on games and movies.
Why on earth buy your kid the game in the first place? or let them see the movie?
CCSchlueter is absolutely right about the ratings.
Its not like its printed so tiny you need a magnifying glass to see it

I would say the video is not a complete win for the gamers, Because that gamer guy came off as a retarted. He was very angry and short tempered.
How can any of you truly believe that violent games don't cause violentce. Its a known fact that children adopt to their inviroments. And some violent games give them the message that its okay to do some things like kill people and not have value of life. Parents need to take responsibily to limit their childrens exposure, and some violent games like Half Life are not as bad.
But even adults will adopt to things and will feel different twords different things. Its all about the moderation, and compliation of things. How you put your self together.
Im sure if you keep reading violent books you will feel differenlty about violence too. Its not just games.
Any ways I been playing violent games since I was 10, its all how you play them and how you parents explain them to you.

well that's the part where parents intervene and their role is placed in compromised condition. see, a healthy rearing would give the kid a reason not to adopt all the violence depicted in games but those that have been abused or lacked proper guidance eventually revolt through game violence.

I've been playing violent video games since I was three, probably rounding off 20 hours or so a week, and I'm not know for a violent temper. My parents never jumped in and had to tell me not to shoot people.
But Jack Thompson did have one good point, that I don't think he covered very well. Having a game rating retracted after the game's release is UNACCEPTABLE. Most parents have very little interest in what the kids are playing as it is, having the kid buy a T rated game that is later reclassified as a M game is something that should not happen, ie. Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion.
