Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Hey everyone, I'd just like to know what you all think of DearS!

In my opinion, both the subbed and dubbed versions were good. (Of course the subs are better, but aren't they always?) I laughed so hard when I first saw the dubbed version, the voices were kind of funny, especially Ren's. But the dubbing was superub, the sripts were actually pretty well written, and it's very smooth. As for the anime itself, I really like the art. The chibis were very good as well! The plot of the anime was very apparent, and the episodes stuck to it. The series had practically no filler episodes! However, what I find lacking from this story is an underlying theme. The plot is simple: boy finds alien, alien wants to be boy's slave, boy doesn't want slave, alien turns into boy's slave anyway and embarrases him, etc. But what's lacking is an idea. Like with Chobits, it's robots destroying human society. It'd be great if someone can help me figure out DearS' theme! ^_^;;

So, anyway, what did you think?

That teacher good god, I refuse to believe people like that exist T_T

--------------
That hunter person was kickass.
Lion-Girl was kind of adorable... in a silly sort of way.

Ren was kind of boring what's her name (the one with the big mouth) she was the star of the show, even tho' her name is sliping ATM.

Haven't watched the anime (and not interested, honestly :P) but the manga is super fun.

At least one of the main characters (Neneko) is not the typical "super shy and boring glass-girl that acts too cute", but the opposite... and yes, she's the best character of them all, even with her bossy and touching-nerves personality XD

WOW, a lot DearS haters.
Still gotta love Ren's name: "Ren Ren Ren Nagusarann Rensia Rurunnren Nakora" or Miu's name: "Sia Nostal Ren Naguregyug Thanast Useim Ruki Miu". I'm glad that my name is short. LOL

All in all, I didn't see anything that is suck 'bout it. I think, DearS is in my top 10 fav comedy anime (Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU is #1 in my opinion).

Theme? What theme? There was one? j/k~~! No filler epi? Trust me, it's better than "Air Gear" (which doesn't tell you anything much at all!).
When is come down to on the theme, all the anime is pretty much simple themes. Just adding some stuff here and there that look more, but just go back to same old thing.
And don't forget when anime was made, there was only 3 manga was made. They couldn't make much (or think much).
And if you're looking for Chobits like destroying human society then look into "Saikanon".

Xaki was pretty pimpin' in anime (but I can't say the same in manga)
Nia isn't Lion-Girl~~! She's kitty!
Are you talking 'bout Miu? or Neneko?

It has a huge "Chobits rip" feel when I first watched it through.

That feeling hasn't changed after subsequent rewatches.

However, by itself, it's not a particularly bad anime. Ridiculous fanservice at times and a rather paper-thin plot, but the character designs are appealing (though not all of the characters themselves), and it had some potential. If you haven't watched it, it's not a bad time-killer, but there shouldn't be any huge expectations going in. I didn't really have any, and so I thought it was an okay anime.

I think its plot is not good and it went to the end to fast, but I heard that it has published the caricature,I think it is better than the cartoon in plot. The most attractive point to me is the characters,I love most characters from it.They are cuit or beautiful, like Ren and Miu.How bewitching. In general speaking,it is not bad.

I still gotta say "I love DearS~~!"
I liked more than Chibits, in my opinion. There was few here and there stuff that was boring in DearS, but samething with Chobits. Sadly I skip on of eps of Chobits cuz, comedy part was too boring to watch. But plot was better than DearS (I guess)

As an anime, DearS is pretty good. It was one of the first animes I saw and although I still like it, I have also begun to notice certain clichés in it. For one, the protagonist is a standard high school kid with a problem with girls. But despite this problem, somehow he ends up being popular with them. Second, he never embeds the willing candidates despite all the chances he gets. How boring. And thirdly; the ending is nonexistent and flat as a pancake. You can basically guess it, since it is exactly the same as with Chobits, Green Green, and several other animes I fail to remember now...

I enjoyed the DearS manga series alot. It had your typical fan service theme, but it was still fun to read. The DearS anime started off okay, but it kind of fell apart at the end. The anime had promise, but I wished they could have made the characters more interesting as they did in the manga. I also didn't care for how the anime series ended because it seemed rushed.

Yeah, Manga was really good. And 'bout the anime, like I said before, they only had 'til vol 3 of manga when start making anime. They couldn't think of any good stuff then.

I thought it was the worst harem anime ive watched in a very long time. the supposedly cute girls head irregular sized head and body proportion, automatically giving the author a big F in drawing capabilities. the ost was horrible and terribly sugary, and the characters were all too cliche to make it enjoy to watch. the plot sounded like one from a mind of a little kid (ooo spaceship lands and they want to be your slave/girlfriend! sounds so... retro and 70-80ish)...

i dont recommend it at all.

Awww, DearS isn't as bad as all that! What anime isn't cliché, anyway, really? When you get right down to it, DearS, despite miming the type of typical master/servant relationship that shows up in a lot of Shonen LoveComi, DearS actually comes around in the end and denounces the whole thing. Main character Takeya wants Ren to be her own girl, no matter how much she throws herself at his feet. Don't judge this book buy it's cover folks, it's a bit deeper than it looks.
