COD4 is SO fun

It is a really good game. There was always something about an FPS that i never liked, but COD 4 is the first one that i think is the closest they can get to perfect gameplay wise. I was so convinced I tried out COD 2. it was rubbish.
That said, It's my second time playing through the game, and this time, I'm on advanced mode. I keep dying.

After putting down cod4, i realized that i got insanely better at halo 3, it might be that cod4 had helped me become more accurate, or that most of the good halo 3 players are playing cod4

No, it was probably just more fast paced. I seriously doubt the "realism" that people say. I do think that COD4 spoiled me rotten though. I tried playing ArmA the other day and didnt really like it. I also went back to some halflife 2 and it didn't spark me as cool as it used to.
It's certainly fun, but it still has its limits. Like the earlier games in the series (and most FPS's in general), the single player is largely just a "roller coaster on a rail" game; the levels are linear and give you little room to maneuver side to side, but it's the moving forward part that's fun about the game. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer thinking types of games where you scope out the situation, plan your moves, and accomplish your objective in a method of your choosing; the original Ghost Recon (from 2001 or so) and the first few levels of Crysis are good examples of this.
That isn't to say that CoD4 isn't fun, far from it. It's just that instead of being told to do something and following my compass while killing enemies along the way, I would've liked to have more open-ended options towards getting to that point on my compass; sneak by the enemy, pick them off one by one, or just charge in with guns blazing, instead of only being presented with one option.

I like COD4 because its FPS and also its different from the other FPS I have played in the past. In COD4 you been able to customize your weapon. even though is not the first game to do that. Also when you are in a higher rank it won't mean that you have a better advantage with all the weapons unlocked. It seems that they made this game to be better balanced for the newcomers and people who are good at FPS. Also, I liked the whole perks because you get to choose which one to pick. Even if you have to choose between have or more of each kind of each category. As for me I like COD4.

Call of Duty 4 is the best game to come out in 2007. The online gameplay is extremely fun. I'm about to be on my second prestige.

I bought the game just recently and the single player campaign mode was neither very long nor challenging. However, I did enjoy playing online, now there is a challenge. What really frustrates me though is when I atempt to find a game and it just says downloading game settings and never progresses. Has anyone else gotten this error and if so, do you know how to fix it?
Its very great, especially the part with the Specter Gunship. There are too little choice of weapons though, but the sniper rifles and RPG makes up for it.The best part on playing it was on the final stage where we're fighting against time to get to the control room.Currently on my third times playing the story mode,I finished Hardened mode, and keep getting killed on Veteran mode.
Overall, its far better than the other CoD games.

I play cod4 on pc (obviously for keyboard / mouse), my roommate upstairs plays on his ps3 (i can't stand playin with the controller, its to slow lol), just wish they had it so you could play against eachother, that'd be so awsome
I've played both on our 360 and PC. And honestly I play on the 360 more then on my PC. While I do admit the PC has more control aiming and such, it is just as fun to waste people on the 360. The single player was short and as said earlier, pretty linear, but they made it interesting and fun. All Ghillied Up was by far my favorite mission but the control room one was fun too. The multiplayer is what has me addicted though. Me and my roommate play on my Live account and just got through the 3rd prestige. Playing through and achieving challenges is a blast. Also losing your weapons makes you bounce around to use weapons to achieve challenges and gets you good with all guns. For example my roommate only used SMGs before prestige but now, like myself, we are pretty adept with all the guns. He still doesn't like LMGs as much but can use them when needed. My live account is m0sEs888 if anyone wants to play (the o is moses is a zero)

Multiplayer wise:
Halo 3 does require you to think, though not as much because it relies solely on raw skill, since everyone is on the same playing ground with access to the same things as the other team the only things that give you an edge are your wits and your skill, strategy is vital at the top tiers of any hopper, namely ranks 45-50.
Call of Duty 4 on the other hand doesn't require as much skill, someone who is able to hold the Left Trigger to aim, sit in a corner for 8+ minutes and wait for someone to pass by so he can cap him is granted to have a great time in Call of Duty, much of it revolves around staying still in a hidden place, then also it's a rubber-knife, marshmallow-shooting-weapons, let's-see-who-has-the-best-connection fest, many of its problems can be seen through the kill-cam, if the person you happen to be shooting has the best connection chances are that you are already dead by the time you start taking aim if you both "see each other at the same time", you can literally empty a whole clip on the enemy just to see on the kill cam that your gun didn't even shoot, to your enemy you are nothing more than a mindless drone that was sitting there ready to be shot.
It takes some wit to move around the maps without getting stepping on "random" grenades that people with the Frag x 3 perk joyfully throw everywhere each time they respawn, usually you'll spawn already standing in a grenade with a 0.1 second fuse and die prematurely.
The game to me is a change of pace only, it's a very good game even though I just mentioned the things that annoy me, everyone that has played it is charmed by it because it's insanely easy to pick-up, play and kick ass in it, it's one of the best looking games I've played and it's certainly one that will last for a very long time, though some of the weapons and perks are a bit unbalanced so that drives me away from the way sometimes.

nothing777The campaign was a bit short, but this was a great game. I play it on the computer and online is as good as the previous versions. I must say, I was skeptical about a third Call of Duty, but they pulled off another great game. As for veteran on single player, I've been getting into multiplayer, so I haven't gotten around to replaying the single player campaign.
Glad to see antoher PC gamer here (although I have a wii, and ps2, my brother has a xbox and a 360 so by no means do I dislike consoels). There is a reason why Call of Duty 3 sucked, it was NOT made by infinity ward. It was made by anther company (their name escapes my mind right now). IF you notice the executabble for Call of Duty 4 says iw3.exe (infinity ward 3).
The game's single player is amazingly fun and action packed, but gameplay is sorta outdated. The multiplayer is simply amazing though. Last time I loved a game's multiplayer so much was counter-strike or day of defeat.
WotchingBleh, that's because Halo requires you to play without thinking. And if you play COD4, you start thinking too much which doesn't play well in Halo. I'm about halfway through the campaign and it's pretty neat. The multiplayer is also pretty decent, but the whole rank system where you earn your weapons is a bit unbalanced. It does encourage you to use a variety of weapons, though.
The rank system is NOT unbalanced. IT is very easily to get all the important perks easily and the weapons you start with are some of the BEST. The reason they made it this way is if they introduced a whole ton of stuff all at the begining, many players would be overwhelmed. This way you get options slowly so you can explore them all and make good use of new weapons and perks. The only weapon classes that has a initial disadvantage is sniper and light machine gun, but you get better ones pretty fast.

The single player isn't any fun for me so I just play it for the multiplayer.
