$900!!!!!
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6144600.html
There you go, here's the article straight from gamespot.com and from many Sony "insiders."
If Sony keep falling in the stock market, the ps3, if released when it should be, should be costing up around $900 for the full package.
Guys....what do you think? Anyone still going to get it at the beginning?
I'd have to say my love from video games has spanned for 15+ years. But $900...I don't know. That's a tad bit too crazy.

Wow...Sony must be smoking some good stuff over there if they think I'm going to pay $900+ for a console!
I guess that means I'll get a PS3 when the price drops in 2011 Lol.

I wish them good luck and sayonara:) This prize is too high.I wonder myself who will buy ps3?
900? man... I don't know thats is almost close to 1k who in the right mind would buy that? >< I don't know with that much money you can get much nicer things >< that is crazy i hope they get off whatever cloud they are on and reconsider this very much
Wasn't there a topic about this a little while ago?
Anyway, M$ really should stop scaring people with tricks like this. Sony would need to be insane to try and rip prices like this from consumers.

Now I've been labled a Sony addict by my friends but in all seriousness I'll let the price go down before I get it. I can entertain myself with my PS2 for awhile...
Wow, thats alot of money... almost as much as a decent to good computer... theres no way someone would choose to buy a ps3, expecially how it compares to some computers capabilities, theres probably no-one that would buy it (or atleast untill the price drops)

I'm skeptical to believe that Sony would actually expect consumers to cough up $700-$800 for a new console. If this report is true, then all I can say to those guys is good luck.
Anyway, it doesn't make much difference to me. I always had a feeling something like that might happen. That's why I don't plan to get the thing until somewhere around 2011. ^_^

I wouldn't expect the PS3 to actually release at $900. The guys at Sony aren't stupid. They know that if they release a console at more than double the cost of their major competitor, it won't sell, especially if it's pretty much a comparable system, which it will be. I'd expect that Sony won't break $500, because I simply can't imagine people buying a console for over that. Sony wants to win, and they won't with a $900 console.

I prophecise another year before the actual release of the PS3....But whatever...I'll pay whatever it takes to get my machine >_<;

""Our updated analysis indicates that the initial bill of [production] materials for PS3 could approach $900," read the report. The report said that the production cost of a single Cell processor will be $230 at launch, with the Blu-ray drive setting Sony back $350 per unit. However, the $900 price tag presumably includes a $100 optional hard drive, as a breakdown of component costs in the report totals just $795.
If the $900 estimate is correct, that means the PS3 would have to sell for around $775-$800 to maintain a $100-$125 per-unit loss similar to that of Microsoft's Xbox 360. If the $795 estimate is correct, the console could sell for around $699--within the range recently forecast by a group of analysts and developers polled by CNN/Money. "

Your absolutely right, the marketing managers of Sony aren't stupied, they are well educated and have the order to position the PS3 at a competitive position in the market and they perfectly know that that can't be achieved if they will price him for $900.
I personally think that Sony will price his PS3 for a price of about $599, so that he will be about 50% more expensive than the X-Box 360.
Only one thing, sony is going down and down and down and down... :)
it seems that sony really need some money.

With that money, i'd rather get a couple of airsoft AEGs (automatic electric gun) and GBBs (gas blow back pistols). . . KWA just came out with a nice USP .45 *drools*

While 900 on the production side is a little high for a console, sony is going to lose a lot of money on the hardware in hopes to get it back in games. 900 is the cost to build the console, not how much they are going to sell it for. They'll take a hit on the hardware like all console makers do.
If the ps3 is going to be anything like my ps2...then I'll pay up to 800 for the console. Why? Because I'm still using my orginal release date ps2 and still playing games on it. My xbox and xbox360 are waiting in the closet for some good solid rpgs, which may never happen :(. I'm still hanging on to the 360 in hope for better games in the future...I need some good fighting games and rpgs >_<. Sure my 360 has better graphics and it looks nice on a HD panel, but the games (as good as they look) aren't much of an improvement in the gameplay department.
I've spend a lot of money on my computer and upgrade it every two years (approx) JUST to play the newest games (still waiting for TES:Oblivion). I'm sure I'll be fine with a console that'll last at least four years and is only a quarter of the price of my computer. At least that's how I look at it. I don't think that 600-700 isn't resonable. What would I say is too much? Well if it cost more than my computer I won't go for it.
I wonder how much games will cost on blue-ray media?

Wow $900 that is a little to much. I will probably wait until the price drop to maybe 300. but i would still eventually buy it.
