Well for one, the scans's quality is a bit poor, so i think you should fix that first.
then the background next cause its always pretty easy,
uuhh i guess you could put clouds in it, or maybe a landscape background then we'll see how it goes ;)

try using Soft Colors like a light color of Eurekas Hair
like dark colors if you turn off the lights you can see how bright sorry!
