How many hours do you think an Anime characters prepared his/her hairstyles?
Hello, this strange topic I started coz recently I attend to some cosplay contest and saw how the contestant told their stories about how many hours they prepared just to imitate the character's hairstyles.
Let's just try this character:
CLOUD STRIFE as an example...
In my opinion, he prepares at least 4 hours of his day to prepare his hairstyles with some wax or things that makes his hairs stand up facing this sky for all day long. How do you think, guys?

I think that the anime hair styles should stay in the imaginarry world of anime. I saw some guy at school who tryed the hair style of Cloud (FF7). In reality it's not something to cool...

If it's one of those character with normal hair, I would say a short amount of time cos they just need to comb a bit. For those with big and spiky hair (like Cloud or the Dragon Ball people), they have no need to prepare the hairstyle cos most probably they set the hair using a very strong gel or somthing (probably cement mix) so the hair will stay like that forever even sleeping or bathing. Logically speaking, they most likely don't want to spend long hours setting their hair every single day when there's criminals to catch/galactic villains to kill/girls to flirt with. Thus, the likely solution is to just make the hair stay like such.

Dude, I can back you up on this one. I had to do the finishing touches on a wig for a friend who WAS cosplaying as Cloud. 50% of that thing was hair wax and gel! And I used this industrial-strength hairspray to keep all the friggin' little spikes up... my fingers got glued together because I used so much. Then I had to trim all the little stray hairs and re-comb the places that were crooked. That wig had already been professionally styled- 5 hours- and I obsessed over it for another 2...
I can see why Cloud is always in a bad mood, I just can't see why he puts himself through that tourture every day.

I have seen may anime and I think lots of hair style is so hard to do. I agreed that some of the hairstyles are not too hard to do like most characters that got a spike hair. I think you just need the gel and wax a little bit to do it, but some of them are like, no matter how hard you try to set you hair, I don't think you will be able to do it even you spend your whole day. Example is Yugi from Yu-Go-Oh. How many wax and gel did he use for his hair everyday? I can't imagine when he set his hair every morning (or he never wash his hair or taking a bath).
Anyway, I think in reality, only a very few of the hairstyle from anime will look good tho.

But all that gel/glue/wax would make the hair hard and resist movement. Cloud's hair sways in the wind so those are out.

Lol well lets see if they start doing there hair 8am it is going to take them till 7pm to get it done. Thats for the characters like Cloud Strife. But for people like Ichigo it will take like 1 hour lol.
I've seen some people pull it off. There was a guy back at my high school that did Cloud's hair well, and I've seen a picture of a boy who got Sora's hairstyle PERFECTLY for a cosplay. Otherwise, I think it's rather difficult. It's something you either have to do well for it to look good or just settle for a "realistic" version, which I think can look just as good.

Wow yea it would take forever for some, and a shit load of hair gel.
though i wish i could get the same styles, without 7 hours work, and not look like a douche. Seriously my hair sucks i cant grow it long or else i'll get a bad half afro thing, and im not black niether do i have curly hair.

Hm, Cloud's hair is very hard to determine. Is it cement? Is it gel? Is it wax? Who knows. It must be some type of special chemical that enables his hair to sway with the wind.
But if it were cement/gel/wax, I'd say it'd take about seventeen hours of standing in front of a mirror squeezing bottle/wheelbarrow after bottle/wheelbarrow. Then followed by another seven hours of styling/managing/snipping those split ends. And before you know it, a whole day passes him by. don't dun dun.

An anime boy's hair always looks full with mess.. Hahaha.. So I think that's their natural hair.. But some cool one, just like Yugi or Cloud as all say, maybe, we need more than 2 hours.. Hehehe!

Even though Cloud's had prepared all the things he needs to create an 'immediate' hairstyle, I'm still wondering how many times a character, such as Cloud, take a bath? Do he repeat the cycle of mixing ingredients to make his hair again?
Maybe he has a 'small' summon that always by his side to help him make his hair. :D :D :D...
