Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

For me, it's spelling. It could be the most perfect wallpaper in the world and I'll want it so bad for my desktop, but you know how they usuall have a little saying on them? If a world is spelt wrong, it ruins the entire thing. I can't use it... it would just drive me insane. So I ask you. What bugs you the most? Maybe it's a specific character? A colour? I specific vectoring? Share it.

For me, it's the extraction of pics. Some people are just plain sloppy when extracting characters. Whenever I make walls, I spend most of my time in the extraction process, but some people seem to make that the shortest step. A character used on a wall should not LOOK like it came from another pic.

Same as sonryu, I will love the background and the picture itself, but if the lines around the character aren't too clear, I just can't stand it.

Low resolutions!! There is nothing worse than low res. desktops, maybe back in the 90s it was OK, but now with 20in monitors all over the place 800x600 just doesn't cut it anymore.

I definitely have a pet peeve against a lot of things:
I don't like a lot of vectors, no matter how nice they traced the lines, often I find they destroyed the piece that was original to it. Which is why I never practiced vectoring.

I also don't enjoy resolutions that are below 300kb, anything like that fails. Often enough, pixellations on it make me cringe.

Text is also another thing, never ever USE ANY TWISTY TEXT, fancy text is so... ugh.
use something truetype, something simple, ariel, gothic castellar, felix tilting, be formal, or be designed with flair and simplicity. flashy twisty text is so gay.

Well I'm quite picky about what wallpaper I'll use as:

I don't like text,

I don't like cluttered wallpapers,

I don't like low resolutions,

I don't like jpg artefacts,

I don't like it when the top right corner of the wallpaper is cluttered as that's where the desktop icons are.

Also I generally only use wallpapers with vectored characters.

I myself not perticularly stick to certain type of wallpaper,

It is art work, I know what I feel about at first sight,

I cannot tell the reason; and the feeling is hard to change...

I dislike wallpapers with too bright colours; things as red, yellow, etc... it hurts my eyes when I'm at the computer at night.
I'm not a fan of vectors either, they look too clean and sharp even when they are well done.

I'm not very picky when it comes to actually downloading and then saving, but man, what really gets me is when the title doesn't complement the picture itself - like when it's too obvious and draws the eye away from everything else. I mean, you have a wall that looks really nice and scenic, and then it's ruined by this huge title that draws your eye to the corner or center or somewhere...Which is why I give kudos to wallers who provide textless versions of their walls. XD
Sometimes I also hate it when the details aren't clear or sharp enough...Sort of pixelly, and looking like it was scanned in at low quality. Looking at pictures like that (not just walls) actually makes my head ache for some reason...
Oh, and I generally don't like walls with too- bright colors. (Bright yellow, neon orange, lime green, etc.) Headache factor again. XD

i definitely share that trait as well. for me, text should compliment the idea of the wallpaper, I think many of them become just plain stereotypical text, like if you see a summer theme wallpaper you will most likely get a wallpaper with twisty text that says "SUMMER YAY!! LOL INSERT STEREOTYPE TEXT AND FONT HERE LOL" that is something that puts me totally off.

the other being that color is the thing, everyone can make bright walls, I think it hurts the eyes, starry clouds (which with an occasional well made one could be of desirable effect) the whole concept just becomes... you guessed it, sickeningly sweet and stereotype.

Yes, that is the kind of thing I just don't like, bright colors should be bright, but not in a glaring way, most people just fail that part of walling. AP is very gladly unlike MT where the ratio of bright walls actually are lesser than there.

I hate it when people try to show of their photoshop skills by making an insane background that completely does not go with the picture. Sure, your background looks flashy, but wasn't the point to make an [insert character here] wallpaper?

There are a lot of things that bother me with wallpapers. First thing is that most people over use every single render they can find until you just stop looking at the picture itself. Secondly, the background, too much effects that distract from the image and trying to create a mood and failing miserably at it is what new wallpaper designers do most.

Then there's the text, oh god the text! Don't make it fancy, don't add tons of effects like outter glow, emboss etc, keep it simple! There's also like the others said the image itself, if it's cut out or rendered badly, people will just stop looking at it.

Then there's the artist him/herself, if the style stays the same throughout their carreer, they will lose alot of fans, people want diversity, originality, don't do the same style/placement/color scheme over and over again, variety!

There's nothing worse than finding a really awesome looking wall then seeing that the resolution is tiny, like 1024x768 tiny. I run at 1280x800, but even at today's standards that's starting to get small. Speaking of which, there needs to be more of a push to wall widescreen. I got a Dell magazine the other day and I think there are only 1 or 2 16:9 monitors in there.

The other thing is if the wall follows one of the style stereotypes, and doesn't do anything with it to make it cool or interesting or creative or anything. You see this a lot with the grunge-style walls. There's a lot of stuff that fits with a grunge style, and the bad ones have infested like termites. Someone will come to redo the grunge style and make it awesome again, someday, I hope. >.>

What i hate the most is too much stuff on a wallpaper. Like there is too much stuff to look at then it will be like a bunch of distractions rather then having something nice. Another thing i would hate are like stupid texts that says like world most stupid things. Next is like the wanna-be Vector wallpaper that completely kills off everything. Things such as sloppiness and random things are not tolerated either. [#]-(-_-) emoticon

For me i Would say the use to excess color when its not needed, also i don't like gitter type of stuff, i like a lot of king plane wallpapers with one character medium in the middle instead of having like a background full of stuff in the back...but then the problem is that if you make a wallpaper like that it will most likely get dumped in Session Zero...
