Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

I've long discussed this with my friends and read a few articles on psychology that I've encountered at times in a magazine or special report. The concept is that an individual who becomes aware in their dreams that they are dreaming have the power to control their dream however they please. Basically the individual becomes a God in their dream state while the body sleeps.

There are two methods that are said to be at hand here,
1) A total awareness of oneself in the dream. Thus, one is capable of doing absolutely anything they desire in it, they are the God.
2) You are somewhat conscious of yourself but unaware of your power to influence the dream world. Hence, you can make something happen by thinking (in your dream) that you really want it to happen. For an example it comes from an anime, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. So as not to spoil it for anyone it's in a spoiler

SPOILER (click to view)

I for myself have experienced the second method, and I gotta say, it's really different than just dreaming and letting your mind dream of whatever comes to mind, hehehe.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this? Anyone believe it as well? Anyone experienced it? Please share

For those of you who don't know, this is called "Lucid Dreaming". It is rather popular.

I tried accomplishing such a task for almost a year, but to no avail...

I had one lucid dream during a polyphasic sleep experiment* I did a few month ago. It was very short though (about two minutes), but nevertheless an amazing experience. I was fully aware I was dreaming and to some extent I was able to manipulate my surroundings. Unfortunately before I could do more than some exploring the dream ended. I'm planning to repeat that experiment in a few weeks from now with better preparation (and hopefully better results). What I know from others however is that you aren't completely godlike, for example your dreams still have some physic rules you need to obey to (not neccessarily the rules of the real world, so flying, telekinesis and such are possible), furthermore those skills can be trained and you get better with every dream.

*)Polyphasic sleep is a special form of sleep where you take your sleep in several short naps over the day instead of one big chunk. A very popular form and likely the most extreme is known as uberman or davinci sleep (Kramer form Seinfeld did it in the episode 'The Friars Club'). In this schedule your total sleeping time is reduced to about 1.5-3 hours a day, split into 6 equally long and equally spaced naps over the day. In addition polyphasic sleepers often report more intense dreams and an increased frequency of lucid dreams.

I freakin dream all the time and I like it sometimes, but i also hate it alot cuz i rarely get good sleep. most of the time i cant controll what goes on in my dreams, but sometimes i know that im dreaming which is cool but still wierd. unlike most people my dreams are sorta connected and are also related to what goes on in my life (wait actually is that how most peoples' dreams are?? err). neways, yea dreamms are cool cuz i dream about girls alot.

I don't believe it has happened to me yet. Besides taking 6 naps a day, is there another way to expirence this without randomly having a Lucid Dream?

take methoquin. its an anit-malaria medication. its only side effect is extreamly lucid dreams. i usually dont remember any of my dreams but sence i started taking the stuff, i have started remembering more dreams and they are incredibly realistic. like i had a dream where i was a superhero fighting witches. that was pretty kewl.

Lucid dreaming happens to me a good amount of times. I remember many of my dreams (at least for that day or so) and sometimes I become aware that I'm in the dream. When this does happen to me though I don't usually just do whatever I want to in the dream. Normally I'll do something that will hurt/help the incidents that are occurring in the dream. So I don't usually feel like God but its still an interesting occurrence.

It's interesting how watching enough episodes of one series can stay in your head for along time. The sounds, the movements, the emotions...all those come from enough exposure to what you have experienced. It's a weird feeling, but there are even times I wished I was the person.

In one dream, I could be Hinagiku or Nagi from Hayate the Combat Butler, teasing Ayasaki to death. Or in another dream I could be Haruhi, doing everything I can to stave off the demons of boredom. Or I could be mulling about chocolate cornets and melon bread.

Outside of anime and manga, I have premonitions of many things. One may include visions of failure, or visions of being late for class. Sometimes they actually do happen, or not at all. Sometimes I am talking in my sleep, or conversing in my dream I am having. Once every month I have a bad dream, and every few weeks I have one in which I am having a nice outing with some idol or talented musician, culminating with being in bed with that person. And then we would discuss about other things.

So, dreams can be controlled. And they can as easily be stopped if they get out of hand fast.

Besides the times where I've had repeat dreams, and I've remembered the last time I had that dream while I'm dreaming, I've only had it happen to me once. I was only partially aware that I was dreaming, but it was enough that I was unable to get a car to unclutter and unlock, and later I was able to skateboard instead of run.

It's...sort of happened to me twice. :D
Once, I was supposed to wake up at nine for a school activity. I drifted into sleep again after waking up, and I found myself hovering over a man and a girl. They were talking, saying, "Yes, I know...And the nine--"
And then I heard somebody (me?) say, "Wait, nine?! WAKE UP!" and I actually woke up with a jolt. XD
The second time, I was supposed to bring materials for a school project, and I had a really bad nightmare where I forgot ALL of them! In my dream I was in my classroom, whining, "This is too awful! It's not supposed to happen!" And then I heard a man say, "Well, you're only dreaming, you know. You can change it if you want. Better yet, why don't you wake up?" So I did. XD

I'm not sure about the second one...Is that lucid dreaming? I mean, sort of having some subconscious entity step in and wake you up for you?

I've experienced sleep paralysis once. i was in mythology class in high school and i fell asleep. well, about half way through the class i woke back up but couldnt move. i listened to the teacher for a while and then decided that sence i couldnt move that i would just go back to sleep. the next thing i know, class is over and people are telling me to wake up and to go the next class. it was trippy.

Well, either way, in my dreams, i do stuff that i want to do (meaning im the one getting the attention) but im always unaware that its a dream. So i guess im doing a bit of both O.o

Experienced sleep paralisis once as well, was one heck of a weird experience. You can't move no matter how much you try, so I just went back to sleep as well XD

I've long discussed this with my

times in a magazine or special report.

The concept is that an individual who

becomes aware in their dreams that

control their dream however they please.

in their dream state while the body sleeps.

There are two methods that are said to be at hand here,

1) A total awareness of oneself in the dream.

anything they desire in it, they are the God.

2) You are somewhat conscious of

yourself but unaware of your power

to influence the dream world. Hence,

(in your dream) that you really want it to happen.

For an example it comes from an anime,

the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

So as not to spoil it for anyone it's in a spoiler

This dream method is like the Haruhi,

where she has control but is unaware

of that power she possesses. So things happen

because she really wants it to happen,

but not because she herself did it.

I for myself have experienced the second method,

and I gotta say, it's really different

than just dreaming and letting your mind

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

after all

when you dream something you are

everytime in a different mood

you are happy

sad...

and such things

if you dreaming something that's

you know [maybe in 3 days you will cook something

really cool at a party]

that's will happened

then you try to do that's...

like what happened in your dream...

But if you dream something really bad

then you try to do something else

at that's time /day [or what ever]

maybe i don't understand you full

plz forgive me

but if you really believe in your dreams then

they gona be true ...[i] maybe
