Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

ABC News
On July 1, California will become the largest state to ban unlimited cellphone use by drivers. The law prohibits drivers under 18 from talking on the phone, and it requires older drivers to use a hands-free headset.

Though it's pretty obvious the ones that are most enthusiastic about this new law are your cell phone companies, third party companies, etc. I'm finding it rapacious for them to spread the news as if it were as monumental as Jesus' second coming.

Good. I hate drivers who use their cell phones, and it doesn't help that I hate all phones in general (you can PM me if you want to know why). Every time I'm driving, I always see someone on the phone, putting on make-up etc., one time I even saw someone reading a book. To me, driving is a pleasure, not something that you do because you have to or it's a chore. Whenever I see someone using the phone while driving it gives me the impression that they don't give a shit about their car or anyone else on the road. I hope this law gets adopted everywhere in the world and they really should be it totally illegal to talk on phones while driving, for anyone.

Such a law is fine as long as the police watch it.
We have a similar one in Germany, not so hard but we have.

To be true nobody cares about it cause the police doesn't even care. I've seen a lot of drivers talking to their phones and the police doing nothing.

I don't know about other laws regarding driving in California but I think there should also be a law for not smoking while driving. Maybe there is one already.

Both, might it be smoking or using the telephone, is really dangerous while driving. People doesn't look their way of driving they have enough to do with talking to the phone or writing short messages (I've seen that on our highways!). This way a lot of accidents happen mostly the driver who used the phone is ok but the others in the other car are badly hurt.

Law is fine but it should be watched that people work after that law.

I might be wrong, but from what I've heard the penalty is not all that high for the first offense, and they are saying how a cop won't pull you over for that reason alone, you'll have to pulled over for like speeding or reckless driving, and if you happen to be on the phone, you'll get a ticket for that as well. I might be wrong though.

Eh?

I thought that that law has been passed ages ago. I guess not in California...

But yeah, its only right anyway. Seriously, if people had their brain in the right place, they would know better to talk on their mobile phones while driving. Especially with the youth's today, some of the accidents come from stuff like that.

It was passed awhile ago, but they it just not going to take effect till July 1st, but I got to agree with you there BlackVice, just seeing people talking on their cell phone when I drive pass them scare me. Why can't people just get it through their heads that talking while driving is a major distraction, people really need to learn to say, "I'm driving right now, I'll call you right back" when they get a call, you just don't pick up. What's even worst is these new phones with the keypad, I actually know friends who will drive look down to their phones from time to time and actually text message other people while driving, it is bad enough talking, but actually taking your eyes off the road to type -.-

I'm kinda satisfied with the law because a lot of times I see people not paying any attention to the road because they're too busy talking to someone. I want people to not do that so much, but at the same time, I don't really know if it should be against the law. Sometimes there are just emergencies when you need to talk to someone (I don't exactly mean emotional..but that could be important in some ways too). So I don't exactly have a particular side for this law...

Glad I don't live there, as I hear gas prices will be well over 4 bucks this summer there. X_X o/

We already have this law (in Australia). If we want to use our phone we need to pull over and answer it. It's common sense really, because mobile phones are a distraction and more accidents happen that way. It annoys me when I see people in their car driving and using their mobile, it's more worrying to see them text messaging someone because that requires more of your attention that when you are talking on your phone. Of course we are allowed to use head sets, I suppose it's just a both hands on the wheel thing...

That's going to become a law where I live as well. I view it as an improvement, but either way you look at it, it really won't prevent anything if the person in question chooses to commit the offense. :\

I like the law in Australia better. I have a question for Uruwashii: Is there ever a time where the side of the road is completely full of people on phones? Or is it not too often to get phone calls on the road?

I don't think people should be using their cell phones at all when they're driving.

If you look at it from a more rational perspective, paying attention to where you're moving a few tons of death metal completely outweighs whatever benefits you might get from a phone; regardless of whether it's hands-free or not.

Sakuradance Yay a question! haha, no it's not something I see a lot of people doing. But I will say I probably see someone talking on their mobile while driving every second day, it is rare though when I think about it, it's mostly the 20 somethings that do it though. Which isn't too bad. It depends what time and where you are though. I travel on all the main roads when there's a lot of traffic during peak hour, so I say we're pretty good.

I live in Los Angeles County in California, and yea, gas is about $4.50 a gallon for regular.

I like that idea too, but I know there is just going to be those jerks who are in a rush and will ignore that rule anyways. And here in the states, you can not pull over unless its an emergency. My friend was driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco (about 400 miles / 650 km) and was getting sleepy along the way, so to be safe, he pulled of to the side of the road and made sure it was as far away from the main highway as possible to take a nap; the next thing he knew, a CHP (California Highway Patrol) officer was tapping on his window and writing him a ticket for stopping without and emergency.

That totally sucks for your friend TiTaNz and he was doing the right thing too. I think that's really stupid, do you have designated pull over areas? Or are you suppose to rent motels or something? (I watch too many movies haha).
