Which would you rather choose?

My question is a complex one so you might want to think before you answer... If you were given a choice of either accomplishing your main goal in life or being happy which would you chose... I know many of you are thinking " What? That's impossible, if you accomplish your dreams your happy," but i said ONE DREAM, and only one. For example, if it's a happy family you wish for, then you can't be rich, you can't have the job you want, etc. Which means you gonna have have to think about what you would give up, remember equavilent exchange... So name the one thing you want and why you chose it over something else...

Happiness. accomplishing a dream is great and true, it can make you happy, but if i choose eternal happiness then ill never stop being happy. i dont have to worry about my own legend of climbing mt everst or diving in the atlantic occean and taking a picture next to titanic, etc dying out or memories fading because happiness will always generate memories and more happiness.
i choose happiness =D

Now just rememeber happiness is not without stuggle, realize that you are never gonna get any of your dreams. I'm not talking about heaven, you'll be broke and alone but always have that general feeling like you're content, but whenever you see something you wanted to accomplish you'll know you'll never get it and i am talking about any dream you've had... But if you get your dream you'll be a movies star, but you won't have no family or friends, just your ability to act. Basically i'm asking, either one physical dream or one emotional feeling...
Oh and i would chose my feelings cuz i have had major dreams fail and be accomplished, but being happy allows you to endure things that most never would.

I wuld choose happiness~~ tats all that truly matters isnt it..??i mean, you could achieve a dream and realise that you might still not be happi...or it might not be exactly what you want
I would not chose happiness.. I dont think being happy as a dream.
I would chose immortality, of course i would like to have the option to
kill myself whenever i wanted(not think it, but like today's suicide).
Though this dream is abit far off......it's still a dream though ^^

Well I have a few high goals in life, and part of life is trying to achieve them so once they are achieved you might find yourself with little to do. With that in mind I would chose happiness so I can be happy and strive to achieve that goal.

Happiness...For me, this is accomplishing not just one dream, but all of them, and so much more...
Wait, it's permanent, isn't it? *shrugs* I guess it would be, if that is how I would choose to define it...If it were otherwise, it'd no longer be happiness...

*thinks about it*..I would choose my dreams..though i got dreams that is so high that I might not reach..but according to my thoughts if i had reached my dreams happiness and sadness would be with me too..for happiness are being seek but it wouldn't be forever that sticks with you..
^.^You should also feel the hardship to catch happiness
Mmm... i would choose either happiness or health, but i think i'll go with happiness because if you are happy that means you've accomplished all of your dreams ^^.
Uh...dream...i don't need happyness if i got what i wish for..anyway if my dream come true i wouldn't feel happyness or sadness anymore.
anyway...hapyness is a usseles emotion like love XDDD

I don't think there is necessarily a need to distinguish between the two depending on what your dreams are. If your dreams aren't materialistic in nature, then happiness is the fullfillment of both those dreams and needs. For me, achieving happiness IS achieving my ultimate dream. I also do not think that this will be a hard dream to fullfill as life is what you make of it, and even through rough, hard, and trying times, I'm able to see the positive things in life. I have very few life critical needs, and as long as those needs are fulfilled, I can be happy.
If there were a discrepency, I wouldn't have to think twice about choosing happiness over any kind of materialistic dream I might have (this would include vain things such as success, fame, etc).

I'd first have to think happiness because it just makes sense. But then I might look back and take a gamble on my dream. ... T.T
Interesting topic.

That is a curious question because I always have thought that the fact of accomplish your dream give you happiness, but if I accomplish all my dreams sure I going to be happy, happiness is not a state of mind that never ends, happiness is not forever, that I think life is not like that also you can have other emotions or other states of mind if you accomplish happiness so whats the reason of living, you accomplish happiness and life depends on fighting to rich that things, I think that a life with all dreams and happiness accomplish so easy will be so boring.
Well. I'm not too big on dreams for myself. Once you become a Father, it's all about family. Seeing your kids succeed is great happiness, and incidentally a dream of mine I guess. So I guess that I would choose dreams just because my greatest wish it to see my children succeed. But then.... winning the lottery could be a big help in making them succeed. Couldn't hurt either. ahhahaha
Well if I were given an explicit choice in the matter in which I was guaranteed not to be happy but guaranteed to achive my "main goal" then I certainly would go for my dream. I mean that's like a free ticket where you can set your dream as high as you want to go. If there were any sort of maybe in there it wouldn't be worth it. That is after all what life is about, maybe you'll achive your dreams, or maybe you'll be happy.
Right now I have no goals in life, I just go with what life deals me and do the best that I can. To tell you the truth I have no real direction in what my "one dream" would be, nor do I need my happiness handed me on a silver platter so I'd rather not be given a choice in the first place.
And what if your dream is to be happy in life? If it has to be one or the other does that mean the universe implodes?
