This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

It's a nice wallpaper. I see that it's quite simple. How about putting some gradient? Well, for simple wallpapers, they usually don't contain many brushes so the only things that can be played are gradient and the text. Try to make the text more attractive by blending them or something else according to your style :)

Hope that helps~

Nothing wrong with making simple walls but much is expected of them. and somewhere in the FAQ it says a solid fill or a gradient isn't enough for a bg unless you can make your wall stunning and full of impact. for your wall, unfortunately, the fill looks kinda plain. try adding some sort of design or detail to it. for example, tossing in some detail with some vector brushes could be an idea (although i am not generally one to encourage using vector brushes without a good focus on some sort of theme). but that's just a random thought. you have time so please think about it. what does L inspire in you? think about his personality, his likes, etc. use that to try and create a bg that has detail and is relevant to L as a character and to Death Note.

the quality of L seems fine, except for a bit of jaggedness i see in his hair near the very top of the wall and on his wrist. i would get rid of the glow on him though -- it does not add to the overall visual appeal of your work. it doesn't really make sense that L is glowing anyhow.

i would also remove the drop shadow on the text. a general caution regarding default effects: stay away from them unless it is absolutely crucial to use them. default effects often make text look overdone, in a not so good (dare i say, cheap?) way.

keep working and good luck. :D
