Kenshin wallie on the making
1 Page: [ 1 ]
It's my first time posting in session zero, and that is because for the first time i don't know what else to add to my wall.
It's almost finished but anytime i look at it i think that something is missing.
I did pretty much work yesterday creating the left "japanese-style wall/door" (whatever that is anyway XD )
so that it fit the right one.
I redrew the whole "wooden" parts on the right side too.
i added some blood splatter brushes, but i think something is missing.
I was searching for a katana pic so that i will put it on the back but i didn't find anything interesting.
So, any comments and opinions are welcome, so that i change this one a bit cause i don't thing submitting a wallpaper that doesn't satisfy the creator is of any use.
Thanx beforehand for the help :P

I feel you used gausian blur abit too much on him but that's alright. i would say get rid of the text where it is and have it on the left side, vertically (proper). it would fit perfectly opposite where his head is, there's no blood there, just "white" space. i like the dark feel of this wall.

Agree with chibicrystal about the font, moving it and placing it to the left where theres alot of space. And about the gausian blurr, it goes nicely with the wallpaper.
I suggest you work on your lighting. Maybe adding a fire lamp or something, putting some lighting into the wallpaper will definetly compliment the scan!
About the wooden parts of the doors, I see you've redrawn them, they don't look like wood to me XP I suggest either redrawing it and making it look more realistic with shadows and wood bits. Or just getting a picture of wood off the Interent, extracting and cleaning and adding filters to it, will definetly make the wallpaper look better.
Overall, I really like the wallpaper! Good luck with the improvements =3
Ooh, very impressive. I like the very dark and angsty look it has. I generally agree about the font, just change the font type and perhaps make it look "bloody". And I think that the walls (the wood) look a bit surreal..probably because the wood doesn't look 100% realistic. But overall, it's good, indeed. =] Good job and best luck on improvements! Hope AP approves it (it should, heh!) ^^
Hi!
Some comments:
- I noticed there's this clear cut of blurred area on the right half and a sharp left half. It might help add depth if the background is blurred and foreground esp kenshin as the main character to be sharpened.
- Like what you've done with the paper door - however some suggestions: blur the edges of the wood sticks and perhaps make it more of a rectangular-grid rather than square-grid. You could also add a shadow/silhouette of a sakura tree and tears/damages on the paper door to add to the background.
- Like the blood fx but perhaps they could be blurred a bit since they're in the background.
A great start for a first timer - good luck with it! ^^
EDIT: don't forget your signature

The contrast between Kenshin and the background is too big, while the background is really clear the character is a bit blurry. Next thing is the text on the doors, I suggest changing this or the use of a different font. For a starters this is quite good. Goodluck!
I think you need to make your blood on the left door match the original one on the right, in color, and like supermonchi said, it needs to be more blurred as well. Agree about the wooden parts, they look rather flat. You should be able to find a suitable stock photo to work from?
Enough has been said about the Kenshin scan, I haven't got anything to add.
On the text, I'm in favour of getting rid of it altogether. The font doesn't fit, and the vertical placement isn't very readable. Overall, I find it more distracting than anything. Doesn't really add anything to the wall design.
Good luck!

Well, i like that scan a lot, and the ambience you tried to create, the "after killin someone" ambience, its a really good theme for a batousai wallpaper, anyway, you need to work on the blood of the left door, use the same colors and blur to make it look like the one on the right side, about the wood, i suggest to use the Burn and Dodge tools to make it a lil more reallistic, also i think the text needs to be moved down, its way to high, also you can do something cool like adding some shadow of shinsengumi members so that it looks like they are chasing batousai and he came into the house.....
good luck....
good luck....
