Simple me...

A bleach wallpaper I started. Not necessarily done as of yet. It almost could go as finished (since I like simple)...but thought I'd ask around for ideas or advice. Should things be added and whatnot.

I have two versions...a color version and a black and white version. Though the color one shows how great the artwork is...the black and white one still has some kind of vibe that I like...that's another thing I am unsure of...which to do.

You should toss the duplicate bg idea and begin from scrath. Let him stand in front of a dirty brick wall, or whatever wall you choose. The one you got now is just plain ugly

Alright...took the advice...started something. I'm not really sure what I think about it...I don't know if it's the brick wall looking too fake/undetailed...or what...something seems off. I like simple wallpapers, but I don't know whether it's still too simple. Anyway...it's not like it's done...I'm just stuck at the moment.

I'd definitely prefer color over b/w for this. Looks like photobucket resized your wall down, could you try with imageshack? We can't see clearly enough to comment when it's sized down. So I can't comment much on the scan quality or your extraction. I can, however, see some bits of blue between his left wrist and his waist, as well as between his right hand and the jeans - you'll need to clean those up.

Anyways, Chaz is right, you'll need to do more before this wall has a chance of being accepted to the ap.net. Blown up copy of the same scan in the background is really old and cliche, and a lot of the time, the scan isn't big enough and has to be resized up, which results in severe degradation of the image quality. Try to avoid doing that.

Instead, try finding a suitable backdrop for Ichigo, or making your own background. It's a nice scan and deserves better.

Edit: looks like you got your post in while I was writing mine... the brick wall is an improvement, definitely. Still, the extraction needs fixing, and you can still improve this with more interesting grafitti - the color right now doesn't stand out enough. Also, you should try looking around for more snazzy grafitti fonts for the text. And you can explore using lighting or other effects on the wall, to break up the monotony a bit.

Also, you still need to show us a bigger version - the minimum requirement here is 1024x768. And don't forget to put your signature on it.

Yea I only got one complaint, the brick wall looks too realistic and doesnt suite the style of art that the picture is. I reckon just filter to brick wall. Try using artistic> poster edges or maybe brush strokes > ink outline. If none of those come out decent then I'm outta idea's or you cud try a new bg. Anyway Good luck.

You could also re-cg or vectorize the character although that is alot of work. Its hard to think of a good background, but just keep thinking till inspiration strikes you like lightning :P. Goodluck!

Cool...I'll be thinking about it. I'll try that ink outline on the brick wall...I actually did attempt poster edges beforehand and it didn't look great. Thanks for the idea I'll try it out.

Thanks hamstersanonymous for finding that tiny problem with the scan...after staring at it so long trying to find what to do I probly missed it. I'll edit my last post with a larger picture right after this...Photobucket must have resized it, like you said.

I actually liked the original concept, though the brick wall idea is good too. I think it would have been great to have the color Ichigo in front of the black and white Ichigo background.
